They've already made their money, why are they even bothering to make the game still?
I mean I get why they have to do it, but I don't get why anyone would defend it. I sort of hope they're hit with a massive amount of refunds, but seeing the SC fanbase, I doubt it.
...
Just play Elite instead.
Man, Elite is a shame. It's so CLOSE to being good, but the shitty law scheme and resultant carebear societies has made open play an empty and joyless place.
>Scam Citizen
I just feel bad for everybody who backed it now. Or I would, if it wasn't so obviously bullshit from the very beginning.
Just play freelancer instead.
post >yfw you didn't fall for Scam Citizen.
I never gave them a penny and never expected their full dream to come to fruition. But i want to game to actually come out and be good. I am defending it because it is a step in the right direction a fuckhuge empy world day 1 was unesesary and at best a waste of resources at worst a detriment to the game.
>tfw you could never join the bandits

Sorry but I'm all out of (You)s for this month.
I thought it was free so I registered with a throwaway email, only to realize I need to buy some $50 virtual dildomobile just to get access to the download
...
It has shit flying mechanics and combat.
Personal taste, I find the flight model far nicer than SC and the player skill in comabt far more meaningful. Elite isn't cluttered with thousands of kinds of space gizmos, it's just the fundamentals of its space dogfighting, and there's plenty of depth there already.
Ehh i think the gizmos would be cool. Do you use a hotas? And have you tried a sc module? I think with a mousr snd keyboard elite would be giod enough but I can't helo feel it's very vanilla. It's a nice chill game don't get me wrong. But I'm not gonna have funny flying around fragging or playing with friends.
>flight model
>space dogfighting
>plenty of depth
cameheretolaughatyou.jpg
as long as it's fun I don't really care
100 systems seems very unrealistic based on what they've released
but MAYBE if it's actually successful and people keep playing it they'll reach that in 15 years. MMOs last a long time
it's more like a mix of air and sea battles when you add in the bigger ships. Of course it will have depth because it's a video game with lots of mechanics and weapon types not a literal flight simulator where you have one gun and two missile types
It took them 5 years to realise the scope of their project was so unrealistic that they had to cut it down by 95%
WTF!?
You know what's sad? When i see this, all i realize is the game has only been in development 5 years, it's not as bad as I thought. There have games with much smaller scopes in much longer development hell. Not really a defence. Just an observation. Your still a fucking retard for preordering a game before development fucking finished, or some dumbasses here before it even started.
>buy 15 000 dollar ship in preparation for epic space adventure between hundreds of star systems and thousands of planets
>dev decides to spend their money on coffee machines and sliding doors for their office instead
>suddenly you're only able to fly between 4 planets
>by the time all the shit they originally promised comes out (if ever) everybody will have ships just as good if not better than yours
I'm happy with Elite Dangerous, glad I didn't get scammed by Robert Scammer Industries.
Still, it's a pity that there are so few space games.
>>by the time all the shit they originally promised comes out (if ever) everybody will have ships just as good if not better than yours
Or, more likely, nobody is even playing anymore
Is it too late to get a refund?
we just had Battlefront and Battlefront 2 coming this year
How are the Battlefront games similar to a space faring game like Elite or SC at all?
its star trek
You know space sim doesn't mean just any game set in space right?
you know you cant read?
literally said
>Still, it's a pity that there are so few space games.
SPACE GAMES
battlefront 1 was shit and 2 is going to be p2w though
Yes, I meant games where you control a space ship in a simulation manner, hold your tits there.
I have a learning disability pls no bully
literal retards
>getting angry because even tough the topic at hand was obvious you decided to shit the bed
their biggest problem seems to be that they have no idea how to expand their studio despite having the funds to do so
shits running like a shitty little indie hole in the ground but it could be an absolute behemoth if they knew how to manage personnel and budget correctly
If this game failing (and it WILL fail, nothing can avert this at this point) doesn't cause regulations to be passed to make crowdfunding scams like this harder to get away with and protect those who back projects like this better, I'll fucking eat my hat. This game is the poster child of crowdfunding and it's going to get a LOT of attention when it fails and Chris Roberts and co. try to sneak away with the money scot free while CI collapses behind them. and they better hire bodyguards or something with that money because I seriously don't think they will be safe after this shit implodes. Like seriously with the amount of money some people have put into this there are going to be death threats and attempts on this fuck's life.
You say that like it's a bad thing. I understand that they've abandoned a bunch of promises (which shouldn't have been made in the first place). But it's in the name of making a better game. You can't have a game try to do everything, with it also being particularly good at any of it. That said, Star Citizen better be really fucking good at what it sets out to do with these revised goals.
This shit happens all the time with non ctowdfunded games desu. It has nothing to do with CR trying to scam anyone. Google development hell.
Sure. But i don't even know if that would help this particular project. A lot people end up sitting on their hands waiting on others.
>by the time all the shit they originally promised comes out (if ever) everybody will have ships just as good if not better than yours
In real life.
>It only took.it 6 years and 100 million for them.to.realize it was too big
And people still defend it
Oh.lord this is a cult alright
Kek
I watched The Room for the first time a few daya ago and listened to the Disaster Artist audiobook.
I feel enlightened, like the veil of reality has been pulled from my eyes.
I did not fall for Star citizen. I did not. I did not! I did NAWT!
Oh hi Mark.
>you control a space ship in a simulation manner
So basically KSP and orbiter.
>And people still defend it
When it was discovered they were getting a massive loan people were saying it was a good thing because "banks don't give loans to failing businesses" despite that literally being how banks do hostile takeovers.
>they were getting a massive loan
What the fuck? $150m and counting isn't enough for a space sim? Lmao
>kickstarted in 2012
>promissed 100 star systems on a 2014 launch
>ff to 2017
>only 25% of the FIRST star system is done
>0,25% overall done
>IN FUCKING 2017
And yet people keep tossing money to that scam
Well, Robert needs vacations! And million-dollar cars! It's totally not him spending the game budget on frivolous shit for his own pleasure, he legitimately needs that to deliver the greatest space game ever, user!
I'm currently saving my income for another 15000 ship, that should help them to get those systems done faster
Star Citizem is a dream game, you pay for the game and then dream about it, that's what you paid for.
Legit question user, is he really doing that?
I want this game to be a success I truly do, but I have no intention of giving them money ever before the game was ever complete.
>There are people still thiking that Star Citizen will ever come out.
Pre-ordering a game is one thing, pre-ordering the promise that maybe a game like this and that will be made is a whole other thing. How did kickstarter even take off at all? It's so easy for the project to end up wasting your money.
I wouldn't mind if it's like putting down $5 for a copy of the game whenever it does come out or something like that as well as having access to the beta or demos and such. But people are putting down hundreds and thousands of dollars on empty promises.
They are paying for dreams, when you pay for the game you feel like you own it already, so you fantasize a lot.
I love/hate ED, and personally couldn't be less interested in Star Citizen.
However, I do very badly want SC to become all it can be, just so Braben and his chimps would have to get off their fucking asses and make ED all it can be.
Considering what SC has to show for over half a decade and literally hundreds of millions of dollars, though, I guess FDev will just keep coasting on the crest of being the only space sim with a budget around.
Disclaimer: The source of those claims is Derek Smart, who has a long history of hate for this game, and Chris Roberts in general.
According to Smart, Roberts has an extremely high salary, along with things like a personal chef, stylist, speech coach, and other things, paid for by the company's dime.
His wife has also been using the company's equipment and property to film her own private projects unrelated to Star Citizen.
Again, this should be taken with a grain of salt, but Smart has it all fairly well documented and laid out with sources. Up to you wether you want to believe it or not.
God speed user
Also >mfw schadenfreude while watching this disaster.
>wanting a video game to be good
I think you're on the wrong board, friend.
>be inna discord
>reading one of the admins going on and on about how cool scam citizen will be
>tell him it's going to be shit and it's a scam
>him and his assmaster get anally aggravated saying they've been watching the game since they funded it many years ago and the scam company is trying to push gaming forward whatever the fuck that means
>they go on to say they're happy with what they can play right now even though they've given the company more than 1000 dollerydoos each
I knew I was right
There are pictures on the internet with their million dollar coffee maker and the custom 100k doors they used in their offices. Theres even pictures with him (i think) on his new luxury yacht. This is not from some guy who hates him and the company
Feels good man.
>5-10 star systems
>space game
Can someone explain this bullshit? How is that a space game?
...
Alright, I'm in for ~50$, how do I most efficiently bail out of this shit? Do I ask for a refund? I'm in Europe, quite sure there are laws that give me the right to a refund since they are not delivering the stated product. Do I just sell my shit to some sucker? Could probably get more than a refund with the LTI and shit.
Mods, please don't allow misinformation shitpost threads. This autist op is getting annoying.

Planets aren't space. If you want planets play literally any other game, they all take place on planets. SC is a true space game, just like space it is a whole lot of nothing.
...
feelsgood
>Reduces scope
>picture implies they're done with the game now before even finishing one solar system, but is barely even readable
Did you retards even look at the picture?
It's meaningless, how stupid and contrarian can you people possibly get?
>We could be having Freespace 3
>Instead we have scam citizen coming out never ever
Just play No Man's Sky, there are quintillions of planets to explore
Also updates are being released regularly
If you mean it implies that because development is so fucking slow & delayed that it will never come out within our lifetime because CIG are a bunch of retards, then yeah.
...
>Mods, please don't allow misinformation shitpost threads. This autist op is getting annoying.
explain. most of us don't give a shit, we are here to point and laugh.
Thank you user
...
So good, boss
>misinformation
Game should have released and be completed already, you got scammed, nobody is spewing disinfo here, you're worse than a whore that pays to get fucked instead of charging for the fuck.
This is virtually the biggest vidya/pc project of all time. Why does Sup Forums want it to fail so badly? Is it just salty console mouthbreathers and poorfags shitposting in these threads?
...
I play on pc, I don't want games to fail but I don't like to get scammed.
I didn't get scammed in fact and I saw the failure from a mile away.
They seem to be doing a pretty shit scam if the game is actually in development.
Honest questions: What do you DO in elite? I played it, I played it for a while but then I realized there's nothing to fucking do except fly to one end of the galaxy, pick up some cargo, fly to the other end of the galaxy, turn it in, but a slightly shinier ship, repeat. It's a screensaver.
I'm looking forward to seeing the game get finished eventually and play it when it's done. And none of you can change that.
Feels good man
The game was supposed to be finished in 2014, however only 0'25% of the game is completed in 2017.
You may wanna call this development, but I like to call it selling demos at the price of diamonds.
Seems to me CR has no idea how to estimate release dates but that doesn't make the game a scam, does it?
mfw I will never pull off a massive vidya scam
Yeah, The Room is so much better if you've read Disaster Artist
In that case then the depth doesn't really come from the difficulty of combat then does it?
Aerial combat in flight sims is heavily reliant on skill
LOL remember pat contrary put a few hundred into this.
Do you think they can pull this on a reasonable time at this rate of working speed? Be serious.
A few of my friends did but they got out with their refunds before the ship hit the iceberg.
