Single player's pretty good and as long as you're not an autistic retard that needs literally every unlock in a video game there's enough content in the online department to keep you playing. Advertising for the game never lied about the game (except for the load times on PS3)

It's not a perfect game, with load times for online being abysmal, lots of modders/hackers, a lot of the story's 100% completion is finding scraps of paper/collectibles, but you tell me where you can get a racing game, a TPS, an FPS, and an open world sandbox with every part incredibly polished

a big game which is easy to get into, does not require loads of time to have fun with, has popular themes, lots of different elements to satisfy different groups, brand myth, has homages to some popular Hollywood movies and is quite polished

doesn't mean I'm a GTA V fan myself, but it has some advantages it would be hard not to mention

Because while the story itself is underhwelming, the single player is still a top notch gaming experience. And Online is a fun grindfest if you manage to find decent people to play with.

I've been there. And not caring about money was the most fun I had, fucking around in freeroam like it was meant to be, no MMO shackles. Then they went full gulag on ban policy and it just wasn't worth the risk, prices spiked shortly after and I spent way too much time repeating the same content over and over. Only this time the profitable stuff didn't even have room for optimization as heists did, so it was just mindnumblingly boring.

I never really understood the big draw of this game and its series. I like the saints row games more but that series self destructed in the end. At least saints row games dont get over involved with a plot and let you get straight to the shooting and explosions and punching hookers. If I want some dramatic urban crime story I'll watch the wire or the sopranos or some mafia movie. People also talked big about this game having a super detailed los angeles, but what do I care? I wasnt even mad in saints row 3 that steelport felt generic and boring because I was too busy doing activies and missions. Also this game has a shit ton mods from what I notice on youtube but new vegas and skyrim became big modding communities before GTA 5 even existed.
