Not playing video games is the most vaporwave

That would be vaporware, friend.
Vice city maybe, even the neon lighting kinda fits
Serious period example probably Tetris CD-i:
youtube.com
A more recent example that kinda fits might be NO THING, it's walking simulator extreme edition:
youtube.com
pc-98 games
cyberdillo
Worlds
Hyperlight Drifter or Hotline Miami.
Not even close.
Those are synthwave
Ecco The Dolphin
maybe it'll come out some day
yeah this seems nice, I remember when the trailer came out, wonder if anything will come out of it anytime soon
Half Life 3
I have my own personal conspiracy theory that HL3 was internally canceled years ago, but they decided not to announce the fact.
Why would they do such a thing? Because the promise of a possible Half Life sequel emerging one day is free publicity for Valve/ Steam.
Think about, every time Gabe so much as mentions the number 3 in a sentence, retards from every corner of the internet flock to Steam, just in case.
By keeping the hope of Half Life alive, the userbase grows, and thus they sell more games.
some user once shared a small vaporwave game he made. it was dumb but kind of satisfying
dropbox.com
>inb4 dolphin porn and lostboy
>inb4 i aint clickin that shit.jpg

that's cyberpunk, not vaporwave, dummy

that isn't even close to vaporwave you fucking clod
>people unironically saying vaporwave/futurefunk is a style and not just a genre of music
Cyperpunk is vaporwave as fuck

you're a faggot and don't know what vaporwave is, blow me
Last time we had this thread, some user recommended Namco museum
do you even know what the terms cyberpunk and vaporwave are
well i guess i dont know what vaporwave is exactly, i just thought that SS has elements used in vaporwave style(color palette, the cyberspace parts also the general "retrofuturistic" look)
hotline miami
>color palette, the cyberspace parts also the general "retrofuturistic" look
None of that is vaporwave
more synthwave than vaporwave
vaporwave is a weird thing because it isn't really a genre as much as it is an aesthetic meme that captures stylistic elements of the early 90's and early internet age, so stuff like japanese text, roman columns and statues, windows 95, etc
it comes from music, where it's basically slowed down and distorted generic 80's slow music, as if being played back on an old casette over a mall's loudspeakers
youtube.com
it's hard to really explain
SMT Soul Hackers
NiGHTS
I finished it, neat, the enemies are freaky and I'd love to play more levels
This x100
LSD
What's your favorite vaporwave album, Sup Forums?
Some good ones already mentioned.
All I can think of is Receiver.
Although not really a game, Janus VR also shares some of the same aesthetics.
so this is just cyberpunk minus the punk?
no, nothing like that.
more like, early 90's VR expectations plus early 90s meme shit
Gaball Screen
I was gonna post the best and most dank vaporwave ever created, but you posted le sad frog maymay so I won't.
NiGHTS into Dreams
>S U R F I N G
My guy
eh i like to think it's like the flipside of cyberpunk, so not in the alleys but in the skyscrapers, and since there is more separation between the classes in this future, it is in the bubble of high tech, high life.
at least that's derived from what i've seen of the genre. and might be like cyberpunk, which is just as hard to nail down.
>implying it ever started development
You fell for (((their))) trap goyim
Especially the Sega CD version
He posted that album, dumbass
I know you fucking retard, I posted a non shitty meme version of the cover.
how do handle being such a fucking sperg in your everyday life?
I don't have to deal with meme loving retard fucks like you in real life so I do fine.
Roll Away for the PS1.
Kaze No Notam for the PS1.
Any PC-98 game.
I don't love nor did I post the meme, I'm just not a sperg who gets angry that someone posted a meme image on fucking Sup Forums of all places.
Is there a word that properly describes mid-to late 90s Japanese electronic music? Stuff like this
youtube.com
youtube.com
Rez and the PS1 GitS games are good examples of what I'm talking about
Forgot pic related
Yikes
I'm not angry, I just think you should kill yourself.
this
...
I should kill myself because I'm not visibly upset by someone posting a meme image on Sup Forums, of all places?
This is what you're going with?
Hard Techno might fit the description.
Nice, kill yourself anytime
>visibly upset
>visibly
aha
Na, you should kill yourself for being borderline retarded.
...
Is vaporwave really meant as a satire of capitalism? Whenever I listen to it it just makes me nostalgic and appreciative of shopping malls and old computers
Close but not quite what I'm looking for
I'm really just fishing for recs because I've been obsessed with Ken Ishii and Takkyu Ishino for the past couple of months
Thanka for the yt link
youtube.com
>that music
>those backgrounds
>the strange lack of sound effects making it feel like you're not actually affecting the game
The whole "satire" element always felt tacked-on so it could be DEEP
I wonder if there is anyone who actually believes that replying with only a reaction image actually conveys some sort of deep poignant message. I feel it's just a half-assed cop out used by half-wits.
I live in Miami Beach. After a rainy night it's amazing through the city listening to vaporwave. Fits the locale so damn well
...
System Shock is NIN as fuck but not even close to vaporwave.
youtube.com
anyone who says its satire of anything is a moron, its literally just a meme aesthetic thing meant to sell merch and get social media notes
Amazing, well played, I bow to your superior knowledge of internet memery.
It's a strange blend of satire and appreciation. What I'm sure started as an ironic joke ended up becoming a legitimate genre to most listeners - there's a reason why so many artists have their own interpretations of the genre. People joke about A E S T H E T I C S but there is a legitimate appeal to the kind of sound that Vaporwave tries to emulate (or outright steal).
So at this point, no, not really. At best it's more self-aware than something like Synthwave.
Shut up already.
Make me fag cunt
VA-11 Hall-A my friend.
I really love that "not Head Like a Hole" bassline
Cyberpunk=/=vaporwave
I know it doesn't fit under any description, but Baroque and vaporwave give me similar feelings.
Else heartbreak
Pssh, whatever...kid...
I just got Vapperor's album Acid Arcadia and it's pretty dope
not the guy you're replying to but
you think you're so fucking slick
but meanwhile we're all here laughing at you
We could've had one:
There's something about this shit that's always made me feel uneasy. I love it
Unf.
>we're all here laughing at you
That's fine, it doesn't make you any less retarded though.
