What are some examples of DLC that is better than the main game?
What are some examples of DLC that is better than the main game?
>Bioshock's Infinite DLC is better than the main game
That's not saying much. That's not saying much at all.
>Burial at Sea better than Bioshock Infinite
No. This dlc has just so many plothole in it, it's not even funny.
The only good thing in it is Rapture Elizabeth
In hindsight, I should have probably used this one instead, but Burial was the first one that came to mind.
>hearts of stone
>the divinity 2 one
>ss3 jewel of the nile
>road to gehenna
>the hard reset one
>Forced stealth gameplay
>Better
Yeah, nah, suck a cock
Still isn't saying much but its true.
Shivering Isles, the main quest in Oblivion is complete trash.
But Shivering Isles is not DLC. It was from a time long ago, where things called 'expansions' existed.
If we're counting those I call dibs on Mask of the Betrayer.
I haven't gotten around to playing Minerva's Den yet, but why is it considered better than the main game? I thought Sup Forums loved the main game.
Was Shivering Isles the last true expansion?
It's a utter mess as far as plot go's and really shits allover Bioshock 1 but I still had more fun with it than Infinite and I honestly liked it better than Minervas den, it felt like they were trying to make Infinite 2 but were lacking time and budget so they just shoved a ton of stuff into a rather short playtime.
It's fucking crap reinforcing the fact even god like powers are useless when combined with female incompetence. At least I can jack off over my Taffer's Delight cheevo
Considering the Xcom2 expansion dropping next month, no.
...
But it's also from the period when dlc started to exist, is it the missing link where expansions degraded into dlc?
Arguably, Shadowrun Dragonfall and Hong Kong could be counted as thus. Xcom: Enemy Within was one too.
There are probably a lot of others but it's true that DLC is usually much cheaper and profitable (Oblivion's horse armor and Capcom SFV crapfest are among the most greedy examples).
Arguably I'll say even dragonborn is an expansion
White March
Artorias of the Abyss
The Old Hunters
Scholar of the First Sin
Blood and Wine
that dragonborn one for skyrim
Underrail Expeditions
Enemy Within
...
>but why is it considered better than the main game? I thought Sup Forums loved the main game.
Minerva's Den being better than the main game doesn't mean the game's bad, just that Minerva's Den is really good.
...
...
It's not all that better but it feels better because it's a lot of content for a short dlc campaign
I personally consider it Bioshock 3 since we are never getting a Bioshock 3 because infinite ruined the franchise but also because it covers the last thing they can do with the story
In reality it's just mostly cut content from the main game because of time restrictions
FEAR 2 reborn, playing as a replica was cool, too bad it lasts for about 20 minutes tops until you shoot other replica again.
It had better writing than the base game but that isn't saying much.
>How it used to be
Hey we got this gamet we made and it's selling pretty well, it took us a while to make and we aren't going to start a serious project for a while. This is the perfect chance to make an expansion pack since the game is already coded so it's easier and it's already released so people won't be demanding a release and we can relax with time limits
>How it is now
Game is planned with two dlc from the get go
Extra early dlc is shipped in the disk since they had to finish the game but then had a bit of extra time to finish a couple things and upper management decided to squeeze an extra buck from the mass of people finishing the game and wanting more
Micro transactions
Season pass
It felt like a System Shock game thank to the map alone
it's pretty much the same
That's retarded. Expansions are part of DLCs
not better, just as good.
It's not better. The gameplay is the same, the attempt of horror is laughable compared to 1 & 2, and the plot is insulting.
I completely agree that DS3 is the weakest title of the trilogy by a mile. The only reason I think the dlc is better, or less shit, is because it pretty much cut off the possibility of further Electronic Arts fuckery.
But it's an even bigger fuck you compared to the base game thanks to the cliffhanger ending
Artorias of the Abyss, the Crowns trilogy, Ringed City, and Old Hunters are all the best content in their respective games, especially Old Hunters. I'd say that expansion alone is probably the best expansion ever released and there are some genuinely fantastic expansions out there.
I wouldn't really call it much of a cliffhanger. The brother moons either consumed earth or turned it into one of their brethren. Unless Isaac and Carver or the Earth Defense Force pulled some retarded alien miracle out of their ass earth is fucked. Also the chapter titles spell out "R.I.P.".
That's what I'm saying. The whole thing is a cliffhanger designed by dev as the final Fuck You to EA. Despite being a dumpster fire, 3 ended quite nicely. We all know what's going to happen in the DLC's ending but what a shitty way to end the series.
