Is it a good game, should I play it ?

Is it a good game, should I play it ?

BDO thread

Well it does a good job catering to its niche audience..
You can reach level cap within a day through: finding an area on the map, Grinding till you hit the area level cap, and proceed to the next one till you hit max level..

However endgame in my opinion is pretty lame, you're going to be grinding for materials and other things for the entire endgame.. It lacks an interesting endgame if that helps..

If you want a good endgame than go to ffxiv or wait to see how the next WoW xpac plays out..

10/10 character creator

Theres more negatives than positives

Good:
Character creation customization
Beautiful world
Trade system
Ranged combat feels nice and awarding

Bad:
Pvp balance
Quest system is korean grindfest
Melee combat is floaty

I just tried it for the first time. The combat seems neat, but it suffers from the same bloat as every other MMO out there. You get dumped in a village and taught how to basic attack, and then the game tells you to go kill goblins. Your screen is filled with hundreds of icons and numbers and popups, and none of them are clear about what they do or what you should be looking at.

I played for an hour and quit because I was level 16 and still had no idea what I was doing and it just kept heaping more and more systems and actions onto the pile without telling me what they actually do.

>level cap
Retard.

its basically 50 though, who the fuck does anything after that except grind?

>50
Kill yourself.

>this game is too complex for my simple baby mind

You literally know nothing about the game. hilarious. What faggot streamer you watch made you play? you retard.

>brainlets

I'm sure it's a fine game for those who choose to spend a lot of time learning the systems, but it failed to interest me. Why would I spend any more time playing a game that isn't fun within the first hour?

The systems aren't complicated at all, you're just retarded, all you do is whack mobs dude I don't know how you manage to be so dumb you cant even whack mobs lmao fucking retard

90% of mmos only get fun at end game.

He is actually right but it is funny he only lasted to 16 before his puny mind exploded and was to lazy to google anything.

Mmos need to change that
Be more like vindictus or guild wars 1 or destiny where its fun from the start all the way to the end where you reach grinding tryhard

>vindictus
Terrible example, it's bland as fuck early game.
BDO can be fun if you enjoy the combat but it feels like shit at the start and the end.

>level cap = 50
stop posting

It's a good MMO to sink your time into, pick a class you enjoy playing (by watching the awakening videos) and then start doing whatever you enjoy AKA fishing/gathering/fighting/etc make as much money as possible and keep doing what you like until you're bored of it.

Protip your class doesn't matter, the person with the most gear will always destroy the other one.

Is that your character user? I want the preset file if it is.

>it feels like shit at the end
How does it feels like shit when you can have every single skill of your class unlocked stop spam like a motherfucker and one-shot pretty much everyone else with less gear than you?

Tell me whats bland about it
You pick up monsters, barrels, rocks, and chuck them around
If you pick the big black guy, you can even grab the bosses

I did whack mobs. I also had hundreds of flashing icons and numbers flying around my screen and had no idea what any of them meant. If a game is going to give me information it also needs to contextualize that information. Telling me that I gained Energy Points means nothing to me if I don't know what Energy Points are. Black Desert tried to dump every system in the game on me as soon as I started playing. That's not good game design. Complex MMOs can be good, but they need to stagger the introduction of systems to avoid overwhelming the player.

Its more so the movement feels bad and makes the combat feel even worse.

Lvl 16 takes like 15 minutes kid, you're braindead, go play FFXIV idiot haha

It seems like you're upset that I didn't like your game. Sorry you feel that way.

No it's garbage, get better taste OP

Yes, and you can't have it, that's no fun.

aww, could have made a great alt

It's shit. It's purely a Korean mob grinding game. You get best in slot gear as rare drops off mobs. You get your best income by grinding mobs. You level the fastest by grinding mobs.

And the best part is that it wasn't even a top 10 Korean MMO when the decision was made to localize it. You're playing a mob grinding game that even Koreans don't think is good.

BDO sucks its a shit game with shit systems and shit balance made by dumb chinks but I also like to make fun of idiots who cant figure out basic stuff or even use google because their tiny pea brains cant fire enough neurons to both breathe and think at the same time

If you're used to WoW, the movement (running/jumping) will feel extremely awkward at first indeed, I experienced the same thing.

Once you get used to it, and to your class; the only exceptions are Ninja once awakening who has a VERY clunky gameplay especially if you can't combo for shit.
Every other classes plays smoothly and has at least 1 mobility skill.

We don't really need to debate though, you could just go ahead and watch a few videos.

I have an IQ of 138. I simply don't care to find out any more about the game because I didn't enjoy playing it. That's all.

The marketplace is the most retarded shit i've ever seen but it needs to be that way to make it harder for RMT China faggots.

You're a dumb idiot sorry

Nice.

Then don't play it, who the FUCK cares.

It's the only mmorpg worth playing right now

Apparently the guy getting upset over the fact that I stopped playing.

ur dumb and an idiot sorry kid but i gotta say ur very stupid

>big tits elf

let me guess you are a overweight wizard

I dunno why the chad you've been talking to keeps sperging out so hard but he has one decent point. If you stopped at level 16 you didn't really give the game a chance.

If you just do what the black spirit tells you to do for the first hour of the game you'll be introduced to all the basics of the game and how to fight shit/level up your skills. He'll also lead you to a town called Velia, which is literally packed full of newbie quests entirely designed to teach you how to do every single thing there is to do in the game, step by step, if you feel like learning how.

You can also just ignore everything on the screen that isn't killing monsters if you want because killing monsters is not only the best way to level up by a factor of quite literally 10,000, it's also the best way to make money.

>wizard
>female
What about you start playing BDO instead of tossing random senseless guesses.

>Having to google shit that the game should teach you is good game design

I got to the stone crypt and stopped because I felt like the spirit was rushing me through areas and that I had skipped stuff or was leveling too fast. Usually by that level in an MMO you've gone through all the tutorial stuff already. I guess knowing that there's a specific town with more in-depth tutorials makes it more appealing to give it another chance.

What is the max level, anyway?

Yeah.........

You're totally right.................

Thanks reddit!........................................................

You aren't very bright are you, maybe you should work together with and try to figure what user meant by that, good luck!

I think he was referring to real life

>female
>witch

No, it's a glorified single player game where 90% of the multiplayer content is trying to grind the same mobs everyone else wants to grind and everyone being mad at eachother because of it.

All korean games are about grinding for the sake of grinding and BDO is no different. The gear system is extremely shallow, making money is a linear process with no intrigue involved, and money is the pillar that holds up every other facet of the games design. Getting better gear revolves around simply throwing money at it over and over again then going and grinding more money. Literally every system in the game is designed to hold you back so that you will want to either pay real money for cash shop items or to make you grind an insane amount of hours just to get something reasonable done.

I don't even want to get into the annoyances like the auction house system with it's locked prices and the fact it's 99% impossible to win bids.

There is no max level, you can keep grinding forever. There's a soft cap at 56 (when you get your awakening weapon) and a slightly less soft cap at 60.

The first 50 levels in BDO go by really, really fast compared to every other MMO I've ever played. As has been pointed out 1-16 is like 10 minutes if you don't goof off, faster if you're making an alt with gear from other characters. Don't worry about leveling too fast.

>wizard
>in real life
fits with my
>senseless
observation.

So what is your point, just shitposting?

I'm level 42 and I stoll have no idea what I'm doing, I just autorun from quest spot to quest spot and shitpost on Sup Forums meanwhile

It should be known that the 59-62 grinds go from 100 to 1500+ hours per level and climb exponentially higher as you go. So for any reasonable person the game caps at 58-59 and going beyond that means you've lost control of your life and are wasting precious hours playing a korean grind game with absolutely zero endgame or purpose to it.

What ranged combat?

>make test character
>want to delete it because unhappy
>game tells me I need to delete some pearl bullshit before I can delete the character
>do exactly that
>realise what I've done
>tfw you delete an item you paid cash for in the bundle
Too embarrassed and depressed to make a new character and contact support to get my value pack back.

Most classe's skills are mid-range so you could call it ranged, I suppose.

I'm not even sure they would have given you anything, you took an item and deleted it without knowing what it was, it's basically you're fault.

Press O, go to recommended, do the inventory expansion quests. After that you can stop doing quests if you want or you can keep doing them for contribution points. If you just want to level then go grind and make sure to loot everything and sell it afterwards.

In this game you can start making money from get go, you don't really need to wait until lvl 60 or something to get going. Don't sell black stones even if they're worth a lot, you will need a million of them. You probably haven't even upgraded weapon yet. Most people just buy a rosar mainhand and up it to +15 as a first weapon. I'm sure you have enough money to buy one and upgrade it at least a few levels. More levels (after +7 for weapons) means more chance of failure.

>I'm not even sure they would have given you anything, you took an item and deleted it without knowing what it was, it's basically you're fault.
The store page explicitly states that you need to activate the items included in the bundle, so I assumed I'd have to do that and it was some dumb quest item. I'm new to MMOs and the game and wasn't thinking straight!

Don't worry user, it couldn't have been that expensive.

I can confirm a lot of this

combat is pretty fun, but it wears thin later on when you need to grind for hours to make any level progress (level 56 is where you really feel this pain)
also gear and upgrades are so important that getting upgrade materials becomes your top priority, but some of them are so hard to get, and upgrading has a chance to fail, meaning it's entirely possible you spend a week trying to get a concentrated black weapon stone (through RNG), and then have it just outright fail to upgrade your weapon

I enjoyed it for quite a while, but now it feels like I'm just spinning my wheels and barely making progress, yet unable to move on to do something different because my gear isn't good enough and I'm not getting lucky with drops to make my gear better

I understand that, but from a company point of view it sounds like
>some dumb player deleted an item without reading it and now he's asking for a compensation, what should we do
All of a sudden the answer becomes really clear.

Honestly it's not your fault, they really don't explain much to you in the game and right off the bat the UI throws a fuckton of garbage at you that can easily overwhelm any new player.

>Each character has a pearl (cash shop) item inventory that is individual and separate from every other character instead of having one pearl item inventory that is universal among all the characters of that account

Only Koreans could think up something that stupid, the entire game is filled with obviously poor design decisions that no one seems to care about fixing.

That's okay, user. After I got pissed off I decided to try that other MMORPG that shalln't be named and am having a pretty great time. I didn't like BDO much from what little I played. The only reason I want to play is because my friends play now, but I guess it doesn't matter.

>Only Koreans could think up something that stupid, the entire game is filled with obviously poor design decisions that no one seems to care about fixing.
I should have taken 30 seconds to think 'what is this item' but it seems so dumb that the store page literally states you need to go through a redeeming menu to get any of this shit and yet part of it automatically got added to the first character I made.

Oh, and also even though I never really got into the game the fact that both your forename and family name need to be unique is absolutely fucking retarded.

I literally lost 3 sharp stones yesterday trying to upgrade with 20 failstacks. I still don't feel too bummed about it, shit happens.

Then again I'm mostly chilling at the moment because I'm really interested in Mystic so I'm not sure if I want to keep grinding after 56 for now.

>he went back to WoW
a-user..

The worst part is you can't even go to the market and buy some off the auction house because of how poorly thought out the whole market system is. What should be a 10 second deal to get more sharps is instead 3 days of spamming bids on hundreds of stones and not winning a single one.

Not that one, the other one. Also, there's no 'back'. Beyond trying a couple of MMOs for a few hours, I'm completely new to the genre. Unless RuneScape at the age of 12 counts.

I have managed to get one through RNG in about 2 weeks, and I'm terrified to even attempt to use it to DUO my weapon, and every time I try to failstack it ends up going through whenever I get to anything +20, meaning I wasted tons of stones, lost the failstack and upgraded a shit piece of gear

also it's such bullshit that the game gives you your awakening weapon at +10 at 56
if you want to fight sausans well you basically need to have at least PRI weapons, a +10 is almost a slap in the face if they think that's enough

What's a good mmo where I don't have to interact with people?

>he plays the MMORPG where people are calling you names if you tell them that you skipped the story
n-no..!!

...

The story's actually somewhat enjoyable, user. I'm going through it, doing side quests from time to time. I'm almost level 50!

I made a maehwa and even with PRI blade I can't do sausans in any reasonable pace. I got lucky and got into a group grinding there so I managed to get to 56 after a few hours but now I'm still weak as fuck. I've decided to farm Manes for now to get some money and try to upgrade my gear.

At the moment I have PRI blade, +15 awa and +15 white hornbow, armor is kinda shit but DP is not that big of a deal. My accessories are pretty garbage though, I don't know what to replace Jarette's earings with until I get money for blue corals or something.

Hey there imposter-kun.

...

I concur

>Female(male)
>Witch

>wait to see how the next WoW xpac plays out..

>Want to get back into WoW
>Have a ton of cool shit like the high warlord title, a vanilla white raptor mount, and the collector's edition pets
>Feel like if I show any of that stuff off but have no knowledge of the game beyond the beginning of BC, people will bully me
>It's all optional but I don't wanna hide it because people should know I am a member of the founding patrician class

I'm very conflicted. Maybe I should just play BDO instead. FFXIV is garbage and doesn't have any fun classes or abilities.

I wish I weren't so autistic.

Look up the dim armor quests, you can get rings, earrings, necklace and a belt free from quests that are equivalent to 10 million silver items off the market. As a whole the set is better than Jarette and some pieces can be upgraded to pri and so forth, all for free.

You're welcome for the free advertisement.

I already have rings and belts at PRI or DUO but earrings I need. Thanks.

>Want to sell my Account for this korean p2w garbage grinder
>They don't let you change e-mails

Fuck man I got jewed real good.

That orange, barbie doll elf is hideous. You can really tell when she's next to other characters.

Why the fuck are you pretending to be that guy anyway? It's really fucking strange and borderline creepy.

Actually scratch borderline creepy, it really is just creepy. Ever tried speaking to a shrink?

most people dont even know from wheres that stuff
honestly i dont even remember special edition pets and i played since vanilla
at max you'll get people asking "from where you got that?"
dont go back , you'll regret it 5 minutes in

This is why no one asks you for your opinions.

By spamming your character here that's exactly what you're doing. This image is pretty funny. It's like she's trying really hard to ignore the plastic bimbo standing over her.

It's not his character genius. He's an imposter who keeps pretending to be the real creator of that elf.

I'm not spamming my character I'm just having a discussion with everyone else in this thread, why do you single me out?

So? He's posting it, and he defended it. That must mean he thinks it's a good character too.

>dont go back , you'll regret it 5 minutes in

I guess it's not really the game for me anyway. I like tanking in PvE, but I like hunter and rogue in PvP. I always hated that divide, and was never able to enjoy raiding as a result.

If rogue were ever given an evasion tank spec or hunter were ever given the ability to tank via pet, I'd re-sub in a heart beat. We all know that'll never happen though. I think the ideal design for any MMO is to give every class two roles from the healer/tank/DPS triangle though. I wish that were more common but it seems only SWTOR really tried it.

Why are you singling yourself out? Why do you feel the need to identify yourself on an anonymous board?

It's not his character genius.

I'm posting screenshots of the game we're talking about, related with the topic of this thread. I'm not identifying anyone or myself although it seems someone think he knows who I am but I'll just ignore it.. It is an anonymous image board after all.

Posting the same character in every post he makes still identifies him, user.

It should also be noted that you can't trade in this game outside of a few very inconsequentially small items. So if you want to help a friend with some cash, nope. If you want to buy an item directly from someone, nope, enjoy the auction house roulette.

Koreans are master Jews.

>it's not his character!!
Holy shit someone is 12 and not trying to hide it what so ever

tfw when to play but IP blocked.
