That Mario Sunshine HD texture pack that makes the HUD really ugly, and the 60fps/widescreen patch that breaks the game's physics.
This, all 2d elements like the HUD and dialogue boxes get stretched to fuck, but also most games cull objects as soon as it's outside of where the edge of the camera is supposed to be, so you have stuff popping in and out on the sides. Pains me that so many people insist on playing games like this. Dunno why they're so afraid of letterboxing.

Exactly. The creator of that is making a sequel to it, all graphics are voxels, each invidual part of voxel is rendered in 1x1x1 cubes on (G)ZDoom engine, so it means your FPS will be ~10

It's something gimped upon in actual public release games the first since they they need quite complex geometry to look good. Something for the sake of t "isn't seen often" and "my pc can run it".
People often showed plants to prove graphical benchmarks and gud graphics because of Crysis i think. It was quite impressive when people fiddled with that, but for that game it was actually fitting to the setting.

you apparently don't know what constitutes a widescreen hack from forced widescreen. hacks will actually render outside the normal FOV, although the HUD will be misaligned since it is no longer on the very borders of the screen. forced widescreen is when it's stretched and it's something that your TV is more likely to be doing than the actual games

the worst thing about texture packs is how they use irl photography for texturing so there's this massive disconnect in the artistic direction. like hyper realistic is automatically better even if it doesn't mesh with the game world at all
