How will the Switch be remembered 20 years from now?

How will the Switch be remembered 20 years from now?

virgin mobile

>no 3rd party support

as a fucking useless piece of shit, just the way it is now.

No games.

Best system of the 8th console generation.

Nintendo's Last

a great but flawed swan song to a great company

As the best selling console since the Wii.

As the Sony Killer

As the distant ancestor to the New Switch DS XL

Not remembered at all, just like all the systems this generation

Nintendo 06

WiiU successor

As a serious and far more educated answer people will remember it due to Breath of The Wild being as timeless as OOT and so by virtue when people will think of BOTW they'll think of the Switch.

it's 9th gen tho
not that it matters since gens are fucked up now

Backstabbed by 3rd party developers like every other Nintendo system.

It's more 8.5 gen, thanks to the the Pro and One X. There's a good chance that the Switch 2 comes out at the same time as the PS5 and Xbox One Two, so a tenth gen console would be launching against 9th gen consoles? No. Gens will more than likely die instead anyway with rolling releases and forwards compatibility will last for the previous system, so the next Xbox release will remove Xbox One from compatibility but One X will still work with newer titles.

I wanna ask this but don't wanna start a new thread.

Why do many 3rd party developers give up on the Wii U and eventually the Switch because of their hardware limitations? If anything, limiting the hardware you develop on can be a great thing for budgeting. Too many developers are wanting to create constant AAA money makers when what we need are smaller AA games with more focus on the quality. I haven't bought an 80 CAD game from Activision or any of the other big guys since the early PS4 days.

GOAT console

Gens aren't fucked up and there are no "mid" gens.

The Switch is in a new generation by itself.

PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are still last gen system. No amount of extra processing power or resolution will make them new generation systems.

The big western developers only make graphically demanding AAA titles for the most part.

Console gaming restricts the evolution of games because of having to design for low specs, Switch has that problem multiplied by ten while PS4 or XBOX at least try to offer a cheap way to play the real demanding titles at low-medium quality which Switch can't

Welp, JP devs are here to stay then.
This shit is fucked.

Because "hardcore" gamers care about graphics, so that's what western devs do, even if the machines can't handle it, like in AC: Unity.

Switch will get support but only low effort support from everyone but Nintendo and 2nd party developers, Fifa 20XX, Skylanders, Just Dance, Capcom ports, the lowest effort you can possibly get. Nintendo will probably get this gens highest selling exclusive, although to be fair, they are almost there already on Breath of the Wild, and it hasn't even gone through it's first christmas.

So when the 10th generation begins at the same time as the other two 9th gen systems come out gens will still hold the same meaning?

Fucking kill yourself.

Higher specs don't push innovation anymore, the Switch isn't holding back shit.

Switch is portable tho

Switch is only portable when It's convenient for arguments actually

It's portable whenever I take it out of the dock, actually.

>doesn't count!!!

literally SEETHING

It actually is a monstrosity and the cancer that represents consoles jumping the shark

nah

Virtual boy 2.0

why did I buy splatoon

go outside

it's woomy?

Not an argument

You sound kind of mad, like that guy drinking milk while being mad about FF13 being on Xbox 360.

The Switch is the best console in 2 generations.

calling it cancer and referencing Happy Days isn't either lol

Good multiplayer TPS are surprisingly hard to come by, it also happens to have the highest skill ceiling of all console shooters, so it's actually rewarding to play.

I wasn't trying to make an argument, I'm just concerned about your well-being

You are the one sounding a little bitter that such a fraud product got called out, Nintendo's last good console was Gamecube, that was a real console with real hardware that could support actual games from its gen

>called out

I find it really boring to play. You just ran around and shoot the ground and only the last minute matters anyway.

Salmon Run is good and the campaign was okay, but not worth $80. I'm hoping Ranked will be fun.

>anything i don't like is a fraud!
>but you're the bitter one

top lel

Posting smug girls sure is soothing your blasted anus

>b-but graphix and muh power
My pc is for these things. Nintendo abandoned your kind years ago so get lost.

Not every game is for you, shooting the ground is an abhorrent oversimplification, the last minute only mattering is subjective, and not a fault.

oh yeah hoss! you really got me with that one!

>u mad
Pfffttt

Absolutely seething right now

Whatever helps you sleep and night I guess.

Ok m8, I was just saying why I'm starting to regret my purchase. Don't need to be so defensive. It's okay that you like the game

>Make a Switch thread
>It gets flame-war'd
Remember to report and ignore

And I said it's okay to not like the game, but don't post your personal grievances as objective faults.

As the inspiration for Sony's new and unique handheld-console hybrid, the Playstation Swap, released in 2019

Eh. I got the Switch bundle for 369 euros. 39 euros for Splatoon 2? That's a steal.

As a gimmicky filler with almost nothing to offer whatsoever.

We all know it's coming, say goodbye to any third party support you thought the Switch at any point had, even if the system sold 1/6 of the Switch it would still steal all of it.

It's either going to be remembered as the one that started the whole portable home console fad or just another Nintendo console.

Portable machines are the future.

Developers are notoriously lazy and greedy. They would rather take a pre-existing formula and give it a shiny coat of paint of HD 4K CINEMATIC GRAPHICS than try something new. It saves time, money and effort for a higher return.

Yeah, and it lost to the Xbox. No wonder Nintendo won't make another traditional console.

It isn't sustainable though. They're going to run out of things to remaster and sequalize. Once that happens get ready for a good vidya crash.

They're really, really not

I won't be abled to run BotW with this right?

>but don't post your personal grievances as objective faults.
I wasn't. Calm down, jesus christ. It's not that serious

Looks like enough, give it a try.

>So when the 10th generation begins at the same time as the other two 9th gen systems come out gens will still hold the same meaning?
What meaning? Generations are an actual thing. In engineering just like in biology.
Why does the idea of a 10th generation system out at the same time as a 9th generation system sound so ridiculous to you?

>It's more 8.5 gen

fuck off it's 9th gen

>Muh graphics

go die

>lost to the Xbox
>in America

Switch isn't 9th gen at all. Brings absolutely nothing to the table and it was only released 3.5 years after the PS4/Xbone.

In the past they used hardware as an excuse, in reality they didn't want to work with Nintendo period because their business practices were extremely formulaic and binding, an old way of thinking they kept since the NES era.

That business worked back then because of the vidya crash but nowadays it restricts a lot the developers, Nintendo is behind the times when it comes to publishing rights and they are extremely jealous of their IPs.

It seems this changed with the nintendo switch though because they allowed fucking Ubisoft to make a mario game of all people, they opened up considerably compared to the 80s and developers haven't yet abandoned the switch, more like they are still considering if it's a ship worth wailing with.

That's why you are seeing a ton of "testing the waters" shitty ports for switch, because devs are scared shitless it will be just another gamecube dev cycle of zero devkit support and access to the APU.

Congrats you've just had an exchange with a nintendo fan, what did you think about it ?

I was released 5 years after the Wii U.

Stop acting like the Wii U was 8th gen.

The Wii U (/ˌwiː ˈjuː/ WEE YOO) is a home video game console developed by Nintendo, and the successor to the Wii.[6] The console was released in November 2012[7][8] and was the first eighth-generation video game console,[9][10] as it competes with Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One.

>AAA gaming completely on the go
>most compact home console ever made
>lowest price per hardware handheld ever built
>smallest wattage consuption in the history of home consoles
>HD rumble (inb4 it's a meme, it works flawlessly fuck you)
>most powerful handheld ever made from the big three
>BRINGS NOTHING NEW ;^)))))))))

You'd have to be a butthurt fanboy not to appreciate the cute tech of this thing, it's a fantastic system on a technical standpoint, if only they had used Tegra X2 it would've been ever better but it's a resounding success for what it achieves, even having better graphics that it's counterpart Nvidia Shield. The wonders of electronics and video gaming focused APUs.

next thing you will say that Wii wasn't 7th gen because it had ps2 graphics, fucking mongoloid muh grapix muh graphix that's all you faggots know about, fucking hang yourself

I can't even tell if these posts are serious or not.

Xbox sold 24 mil. total, while GameCube sold 22 mil. total. If it wasn't for the Dreamcast, the GameCube would have been the worst selling console that generation.

user, they can always do a re-remaster like with SotC. It will never end.

And it still outsold the Xbox in every region but America. Not that that's a great feat or anything. The Xbox was such a failure it practically didn't even exist.

SotC is a remake though

>a re-remaster like with SotC
Fuck that. Honestly. I absolutely love SotC but the moment I found out that it'll have no new content I became pissed.

I still find it funny Nintendo is charging for online for this useless no games POS

The sooner Nintenbros are forever relegated to /vr/ the better tho

Whenever someone says Nintendo i now think of this

Iterative generations, Switch isn't an iterative system.

>muh graphics

I ain't leaning on the graphics part, I'm leaning on it's release date, the PS5 and Xbox One two are 5 years off easy, the Swtich two could release by then.

generations are a retarded term that should be abandoned

How old are you?

It's a useful term in engineering. What's retarded was consumers deciding to apply it across the entire industry and between independent production lines across companies.

The absolute state of Nintendo autists

I dunno about other switch users, but for now, I'm happy with it.
The take up the tablet from the dock to continue gaming elsewhere is actually pretty cool.
Otherwise, I think it's a nice gadget, it makes a really nice impression when you have it in hands. So far, the lineup is quite good in terms of games, but Nintendo only... I guess the console will be well remembered in the future depending on its Christmas sales and next year games.

A lot of people, myself included, are undoubtedly waiting for Odyssey to come out. I think a lot of people are gonna buy the Switch when this game comes out.

When I see "le ebin wojak maymays" I think this

Game gear 2.0

Because they want to release the same game on lots of systems and if one console can't keep up, they're just gonna leave it by the way side. And it doesn't even matter when the console you leaving isn't selling anyway

The 3rd-party port machine.

It's a handheld. They don't really abide by the "gen" rule because power doesn't matter for them.

The switch will be remembered as a pokemon machine, just like every other Nintendo handheld.
