Also, if you had to peal something off the game to sell to a more niche and hardcore fanbase, it might as well be the hard mode. It's not like they locked out an entire part of the game, just a difficulty setting.

But yeah, would be better if they hadn't at all. The virus was caught by Nintendo after Iwata died. Still not the worst use of DLC I have seen.

Requires an android device with NFC (this should cost 40 bucks max if you don't already have one) and NTAG215 NFC tags (20 cents from china to a dollar via Prime Shipping)

Even if you pay a dollar per and don't have the android device already after writing 3 amiibos you're already in the black compared to buying them.

Coming from someone who spends several hundred dollars a month on toys and figures, amiibos are garbage. They're overpriced for the shitty quality, and since they're so cheap to begin with, you better believe that means they're garbage. And the best part is now the store can run out of DLC that should have been in the game in the first place. I sure can't wait to pay scalpers to get fucking hard mode. It's very rare that a company makes such a shitty decision that it helps ruin two industries at once, and even rarer that the consumer actually likes it.

They usually are fine with both, it's just the vocal minority that spergs the loudest.

Amiibos offer a disproportionate cost preposition compared to the content they unlock.

It also doesn't help that many Amiibo are very hard to find, which stops you from getting the content without paying an insane scalper markup.
