This time to put more buttons on gamepads?

this time to put more buttons on gamepads?

everytime i think about i conclude the next gen needs at least 2 trigger buttons on the back of gamepad like the razer raiju, nacon revolution or the xbox elite controller.

>using term "next gen" for consoles

lol

we have the PS4 since 2014, the "next gen" for me this PS5, xbox two.

i don't want a 100$ controller, but i want PS5 gamepad with a similar desing and the same button layout that the razer raiju

get a keyboard
cheep 5$ membrane keyboard is better than any gamepad

If you don't like consoles why even come into threads like this? So you can autistically screech about keyboards and mice?

Generations wouldn't exist without consoles.

i literally part of the master race, not the PC master race if not the "i am not poor and i can buy a high end PC, a switch and a PS4", keyboard for many games are a meme, for shooters mouse is king, but for many, many games keyboard + mouse is worse than gamepads.

the only reason i don't have a xbox is because the console is a halo machine and i don't have time between the switch, 3DS, PS4 and PC, i have the elite controller anyway.

They need more face buttons.
The easiest way to do this is like the black and white buttons on the original Xbox Controller. Buttons that you're not gonna press often, but provide utility, so they don't need to be perfect like SNES buttons.

is my $300 silent topre keyboard better at tekken than a pad?

More buttons would be cool but I'd also like to see it become modular with the ability to use either analogs or touchpad like the Steam controller.

>50% defending the garbage that is the modern controller
The absolute state of Sup Forums

more face buttons is not a bad idea, i prefer having 2 back triggers, but the 2 buttons together with the R1,R2,L1,L2 from the razer raiju seems awkward, maybe having 2 more face buttons and 2 back triggers is the ideal.

there's a lot of desings for the extra face buttons, N64, xbox OG, sega megadrive, fightpads and even gamecube controller, the x, y could be 2 extra face buttons, the same for the b.

I think an extra two buttons would be useful. Start and Menu used to have extra functionality but they have been relegated to a standard. Which is nice but it removes function of two buttons.

the problem with modularity is that is more expensive, a default console gamepad can't have more value than 60$, i just want more buttons, i am pretty sure a lot of games would use it with the time.

Paddles or something similar should be standard issue going forward. Can't imagine using a controller without them anymore.

just buy a hitbox, basically plays like keyboards but are prepared for fighting games.

Too bad the industry is held back by the common console audience.

WHAT?? 2 MORE BUTTONS AND 2 SUPPLEMENTAL TRIGGERS?? GAMING IS SO COMPLICATED HOW WILL I FINISH PORTAL 1 NOW?!

it would beneficial in a lot of ways
less shitty UIs
more gameplay mechanics
less bad ports
better control schemes in general

yes, normies already get confused with the basic gamepad, a lot of casuals would get triggered with 2 buttons, be paddles, back triggers or face buttons.

but look the xbox elite, look the nanco, the raiju, more and more "elite controllers" have additional buttons, and "hardcore" cod players like it, maybe PS5 and xbox includes more buttons in their default pads thanks to them.

I was convinced that we needed more buttons when GTA 5 required you to use right on the d-pad to perform context sensitive actions.

>tfw no fightpad with 2 joysticks and 6 face buttons.

i miss the black and white buttons.

Solution: Keep bumpers and add back the white and black buttons.

Why not have 2 clickable-touchpads on the back? Where, when you slide your finger along it, or swipe, or whatever, it'll do one thing, then clicking it will do another. Maybe shooters will adopt it as a way of making trigger speed match the player instead of set speed.

I think that having a touchpad like the steam controller at least on the right side, moving the face buttons on the back, making the gyro more prominent, and maybe making the two shoulder button a scroll wheel (or to avoid moving parts making them a touch surface) would be ideal.
I think however a lot of normies would hate that because learning a new controller layout is considered bad in this day and age, so we're stuck with the dualshock layout forever

and put the paddles from xbox elite controller, back buttons + 2 face buttons would be the ideal.

the steam controller don't have that?

Wow have you considered adding in Xeroxing functionality to the controller as well? It sounds like it would be well suited alongside the rest of whatever shit you just vomited out.

>normie cannot use a gyro or a pad like those on the vita
literal kids can use those, faggot

What do you guys think about this controller?

It supposedly has great accuracy for FPS games and it also has 6 face buttons.

Would never happen, core demographics of consoles watch simple, cinematic experiences. Advertising games as being more complex is a thing of the past.

seems stupid but at the same time more ussefull for shooters than normal gamepads, the idea have potential.

No, that's just Rockstar being typically shit-tastic in their control design. See also: Red Dead Redemption. They have a problem and refuse to acknowledge it.

Gamepads have plenty of inputs. Developers need to be smarter about using them. More is not always better. For example, we use analog inputs for movement, yet still insist on having a separate button press for a "run" action.

This thread is basically people asking for an amp that goes to eleven.

Those are just buttons, not touchpads.

>triggers
Why? What do we need more triggers on that? Even worse if they are digital. Although I all for simple buttons.

>For example, we use analog inputs for movement, yet still insist on having a separate button press for a "run" action.
that's because stick nowdays are always the same shitty unit that is hard to move partially in the middle thanks to small active range and the shitty potentiometers that wear down quickly.
People shit on the n64 stick because it destroy itself, but a modern stick dies just as quickly and it doesn't have the same degree of precision and expression

>SC can do modularity and go on sale for 30 dollars.
>Meanwhile consoles sell on a loss so they overprice the extra controllers just to make a profit.

It's hard to improve on the current design ergonomically without entirely messing it up. I play on PC but there are times when I would like having some type of modifier/function key for access to ui/menu/inventory buttons. If one were to add to the 360 pad I'd put another two buttons to the inside of the bumpers where your pointer fingers end.

PS4 is horrible with the placement of the start and select and using the touchpad for anything location sensitive blows.

Literal kids can use hula hoops, you wanna add one to your shitty controller?

That looks pretty good actually, but in the end you're doing the same thing you are on a Steam controller's touchpad which allows more flexibility in terms of configuration and use cases.

will never get accuracy as good using just your thumb compared to your whole hand and wrist. completely pointless.

Only if they're still just stand-ins for the face buttons. I couldn't bear to play Titanfall 2 with face buttons.
