Hell fucking no
Hell fucking yes
am i missing something or are blue coins kinda cancerous?
its my favorite, the movement system hasnt been touched by any game since
Ever since Splatoon came out years ago I've been having an itch to play it.
It's an upgrade to Mario 64 in my opinion, so to me it's one of the best Mario games.
>shit level design
>reptitive missions
>chasing shadow mario
>yoshi is more useless then no yoshi
>yoshi disintegrates if he touches water
>removed long jump and other Mario 64 moves
>clenaing up goop
>blue coins
>filler missions
>ruished and unfinished
>best Mario
No, it is however the worst Mario. You can easily spot a baby who grew up with the Gamecube by his worship for this dreadful title.
Not sure, but it's probably my favourite.
yes
what do you even mean by that newfag
I'm not sure I'd call Sunshine the best, but it is certainly better than 64.
The blue coins make things frustrating for completionists.
I don't think so. It's a good game but the platforming is made ridiculously easy with the FLUDD, giving you almost no challenge whatsoever when you have it.
Well seeing as how some blue coins are locked behind certain episodes and you have no indication of which coins in the level you have collected, I'd say it's a bad design.
>better than 64
there's no way to tell which ones you've collected in what levels. overly cryptic. and dousing everything in water just to fish em out gets dull.
UNLESS i'm overlooking something
and i've been here a long while, i hope trying to be condescending made you feel better.
Its the mario with the best atmosphere for sure.
Then they need to lay off the autism
who would win in a race?
>100%ing a Mario game is autistic
Needing to hunt down what was it 120 coins? Some of which are a real pain in the ass when you can beat the game with collecting a single one is autistic yes.
It's mechanics are dissonant from one another, the collecting is even more frustrating without a checklist for coins, and there's a lot of fiddly issues around the physics.
The pros however are a great asthetic, wonderful soundtrack, and the famous awesome challenge zones.
It's a good game, but way too bogged down by its own crap to be great. It feels like two good games taped together, kind of.
Probably not the best, but definitively my favorite.
Is it tedious? Yes. Is it a bad design? Yes. Is it hard? Not at all. You'd either have to be either a child or not like the game to not be willing to put in the minimal effort to get the blue coins.
black man
>Is it tedious? Yes
Reason enough not to waste time with them. Especially when it isn't even necessary. When I come across them sure I'll grab it but I'm fine with beating it without having to hunt down every single one.
Suffers from being incomplete and rushed in parts
its the worst
I mean I can understand if you wouldn't want to. "If it's not fun, why bother?" and all that, but this is considered tedious for a Mario game. It's nothing compared to grinding in an RPG, or getting a full build in an MMO. At least there is gameplay and secrets you're unlocking as you go. By no means is completing Mario Sunshine 100% an autistic endeavor. Way better than say 100%ing Zelda Twilight Princess or Wind Waker.
mario sunshine is a platformer and neither an rpg or an mmo so your comparison lacks value
The Spooky Speedster
You're not listening. BECAUSE Mario Sunshine isn't an RPG or MMO you are going to have more fun running around the level looking for the coins than grinding in an RPG.
Here's hoping Odyssey will become a better Mario Sunshine by fixing all of its worst parts.
No.
fair, but i also think that stance is EXTREMELY subjective, because finding all of the coins requires locating I'm not even sure how many per level, and some of those also you gotta spray off the walls or run to get and if you don't get there in time they disappear. Not necessarily unfun, but if someone told me "fuck those things" I'd get it
Its actually the worst
I'm hoping it will be another Mario 64 but with some of the demos like with the bullet bill segment I'm nervous.
You forgot the fact that you revisit the same areas over and over again because the game didn't have enough levels and tried to hide it with blue coins and shit.
The controls are good and the movement feels very natural but I think 64s levels and hub are better. Definitely a great game though, better than galaxy simply by virtue of not having to use the wiimote as a controller
>less content than super mario 64
>still somehow better
that's fair.
I still think that its the undoubtably best Mario theme in all of history.
>when you first discover the rocket storage glitch
A lot of charm that comes from Sunshine is tied to its visuals and music, which imo I prefer to M64's look. Fludd's fun but without it the movement feels really lacking, and even then there's some parts with Fludd that suck my dick.
I think it boils down to gameplay vs. visuals. If you prefer the latter, you'll probably like this one more.
I agree with this. For example, Mario cannot punch or long jump in this game. I understand it would take from FLUDD but I don't think it would have been a bad thing to put them in the game. You can already do most the platforming without FLUDD anyway.
I dont get why people bitch so hard about blue coins, you never needed to collect even one of them in order to finish the game. Whenever I replay it I don't bother because I know that shit's tedious and it would hinder my experience. If one happens to be along the way then I'll pick it up but I'll never go out of the way for any of them.
Game still aged better than sm64 whether you like it or not.
getting every shine sprite gives you a special 100% completion screen at the end of the game
gamecube game aged better than the n64 game?
>Less worlds than 64
>Can't do missions in a non linear fashion
>No Long Jump
>No Punch
>20 Shines gated behind Blue Coins many of which are impossible without a guide
>Too many Red Coin missions
>Chuckster
>Cleaning a beach
>Cleaning off Piantas
>Gelato-8
>Ricco-8
>Pinna-8
>Lily pad
>Pachinko
>Putting Chain Chomps in water
>Corona boat section
>Voice acting
>Repeated Shadow Mario levels
>Best
>chuckster
take that back senpai
It has the best setting.
I hope it shows up in Odyssey
like one level is Delfino themed just like how Bob Omb Battlefield made it into Galaxy 2?
You sure about that?
Probably not but it's still my favorite
That's mario for "yes"
>off by a fucking mile; obvious that he'll miss even before the throw.
What is this image trying to prove.
That anti-chuck fags are retarded.
Sure it's an odd mechanic but I was able to easily do this shit when I was a wee lad
>revisit the same areas over and over again
Name one Mario game that DOESN'T do this
I grew up on the NES. It is the best Mario.
Cool but exactly is that doing in a platforming game when there is no platforming involved?
Might as well complain about the cannons in SM64.
Contender for best 3D Mario with Galaxy 2 and 3D World
But the best Mario really belongs to pic related
>complaining that lining up for platform flinging isn't platforming
This is the best Mario.
>all Mario games have you revisit levels, therefore it's okay for this Mario game to only have 7 fucking levels.
Even if
>all Mario games have you revisit levels
was true, which it is not, even the second worst Mario game in that regard, Super Mario 64, has 15 levels. Not counting the Bowser stages in each game.
what are people's opinions of this port?
>Walking is now platforming
you know what, good bait. 7/10, you had got me.
I think it's serviceable, especially back when it was released.
Playing it on an emulator requires a color restoration mod though, since it was made with a GBA screen in mind.
I personally prefer the soundtrack the GBA version has, even though I had an SNES cart of SMW.
Posted wrong picture, my bad.
Sunshine is literally the worst mario game
you mean the most overrated on Sup Forums
Sunshine has the best core gameplay, but Mario 64 has the best stages.
Is sunshine the GTAIV of mario games?
>Sunshine has the best core gameplay
youtube.com
Hmmm....
are the galaxy games really worth playing?
I was more thinking of the time I got to the top of the ferris wheel without doing the grate puzzle by just wall jumping and hovering my way to the top.
Depends. Are you okay with stages consisting of a series of disconnected linear setpieces, focusing solely on your platforming ability? If so, go for it.
currently playing 2 and it's really, really good
