Game looks good but I doubt it'll be GOTY.
I just hope it can gain some traction on steam so it won't be dead 1 month after release
Does this have complicated combos I have to memorize? It looks interesting but I just don't have that much of an interest in fighting games.
It's got enough preorders to have a good chance of a decent community, at least nothing indicating "death on arrival"
Isn't Devolver just the publisher?
when is it coming out?
That's the case with every fighting game ever, though. Look at SFV or MKX as the most recent exmaples.
Good sales - completely dead a year from release.
It's not a fighting game, more of a 3d brawler
You only have two attack buttons and most of the complexity stems from you designing the combos before the fights
>MMO shit
Fuck that shit, For honor with martial arts
Sure but a year is more than enough time for you to experience the game, wouldnt you say?
Is dark souls an MMO, faggot?
This looks awful.
For a pure fighting game? Perhaps. If it goes for an MMO structure where you have to collect moves, gear, etc? Not really.
August 29
But you can collect all your moves from NPCs
Not as easy a saying "hey asshole teach me the axe kick" to a human being, but still possible
can you even say things? I don't think there's a chat box
Nope, would have to do it outside through steam or whatever, the emotes were pretty limited too
That's what the doctor said about you when you were conceived.
who /using nothing but kicks/ here?
Woah dude this is a Christian imageboard
You might find that slightly difficult since a majority of top stance moves are punches, but it wouldn't be impossible
so its basically Fantasy MMO Fist of the North Star?
Not an MMO is any sense of the phrase
A MO at best
This also looks awful.
it definitely seems like a quirky thing that's only viable in the end game when you have all the moves learned, but I look forward to starting a Kick School and teaching only kicks to my disciples.
Is it pvp only or can I grind some pve too?
is there a story for this game or is it just some boring for honor clone?
Its dark souls in progression
I spent a large chunk of the beta dropping swords to NPCs to see what sword moves they can teach me
Already got it pre ordered
You learn new moves by getting your ass handed?
Just like one of my dragon ball mangas.
I wish there was another beta. I wonder if they have too much to fix from the first beta.
the story is Journey tier.
>In the ruins of the fallen Adal Empire, you awaken with a mysterious mask on your face, and faint recollections of an esoteric ceremony. Freeing you from hunger, thirst, and even death, the mask is the creation of the Guides, the rulers of these lands, who have placed you here to determine whether you are worthy of becoming part of the elite corps of Absolvers. As you wander these forsaken lands, encountering other Prospects like you, you will learn new combat styles, acquire weapons, gear and armor, and build a team of warriors with whom to fight side by side in Arenas of combat.
>kick moves only
My nigger
So its kinda like Remember Me but with multiplayer?
Not exactly handed
You learn moves by blocking or evading them using your defensive ability, and then killing the guy
So it's more like "I've mastered your every move" instead of "ah fuck I was stabbed 50 times now I know how to stab people"
Probably the more accurate comparison, sure
What style do you like most?
>Forsaken, a style focused on parrying and cancelling attacks
>Kahlt, a tank class that absorbs attacks and deals punish damage
>Windfall, an agility-centered class made for evasion
>Stagger, a drunken master class
Is remember me worth a play? Dirt cheap by now but never heard much about it.
People with shit taste are not allowed in this thread
Windfall, won't even let the enemy touch me. That's how I play dark souls anyway, never got into shields.
Why take a hit if you can just evade it completely?
Khalt because who doesn't love having braindamage from taking hits with your face
yes
OP is a retard as usual
It's okay user, I understand you enjoy watching shitty animations with no real weight.
if you don't mind the basic shallow combat it has fantastic art direction and a pretty decent story.
Are staves going to be added later or something? I've seen screenshots of staves, but nothing in gameplay.
They announced it's coming after launch
It's pretty simple math
If you dodge a hit, the time it takes you to dodge is the time you need to wait before counter attacking. You absorb a punch to the face, and you can start punching right back
Why are they flipping around and trying to hit each other with huge movements when they're at grappling distance?
people from the beta are saying evading takes up stamina pretty fast for some reason.
I'm glad a game is coming out that at least has decent martial arts.
>remember playing bamham city
>nice free flow combat and combos
>each enemy takes at least 5-6 hits to go down
>get to the final boss
>batman picks up a sword
>one hit kill mode unlocked
Why doesn't he use any melee weapons in the comic world? Would be much more efficient.
These do look awful.
because there are no grapple moves
what in the fuck? this combat looks like ass
On PC it is that dead
He can already give them brain damage and break bones with his fist, he isn't trying to kill people.
Only if you miss
On a successful evade you get it back
>haha hey guys look we made for honor except worse in every way
>ok pajeet we paid you $1.30 per hour, go on Sup Forums and reddit and post nice threads for us okay? :)
Nobody wants your shit game poojeet
>Headshot was disappointing compared to the raid movies
The next raid should come soon enough.
It's a shame the only Avatar game was just half-assed Platinum trash.
You're doing it wrong.
Batman Rule. No killing. No maiming, either. He shouldn't even be using a sword in the first place.
*sniff sniff*
Do I smell people LOOKING FORWARD TO A GAME?
Not on my watch
I haven't seen it yet but it isn't directed by Gareth Evans, right?
Coulda been something good if platinum took it seriously
Shit was the most calculated mediocre licenced job
see leave us alone we have nothing to play on PC and I'm tired of playing chivalry
>the only Avatar game
jesus fucking christ, how new are you?
there was a handful of small kid games, the platinum one was just the most prominent.
Nope, it was directed by 2 people for some reason.
What is this? Open world God Hand?
doesnt look good at all though
dont know what you're smoking
I'd rather play a regular fighting game
Are these the only styles going to be in the game before updates? Or are they just the ones we know of already? But im definitly going to be trying out stagger when i get my hands on it, looks ___fun
Woah that's a quality opinion that leaves a lot to argue against, thank you for the input
They are the only defensive styles, yeah
All they determine is your defensive ability and starting moves, don't really stop you playing as whatever you want
those descriptions really aren't all that informing. from what i saw, all 3 styles have a defensive move that somehow negates an incoming attack. what's the difference?
i typically win in brawlers by overwhelming my opponents and reading their playstyles to determine when they will attack me. it usually leads me to either 100-0ing people 90% of the time or getting smashed by a player who is hard to read. so i guess i'd play the style that works the best with that strategy
are you supposed to block by reaction or intuition in this game? im way better at te latter
dont shill garbage here again astroturfer, thank you for your understanding
>don't talk about video games on Sup Forums again, thank you for your understanding
this shit always happens. like the average person being excited for a game and wanting to talk about it is too big a concept for Sup Forumstards to understand
Most of the attacks don't get faster than 0.2 seconds, so reaction very much seems like the reliable default
Plus since you have to learn the opponents combos every time, it makes prediction a lot more difficult since everyone is making shit up as they go, unless there is some weird meta combo deck everyone uses.
The description of the abilities is as follows.
>absorb
Basically "poise on demand", ignore an attack and leave the opponent in recovery, and then counter attack. It's the easiest but also still makes you lose health.
>avoid
4 directional dodge, requires the most knowledge but has the most payoff since it leaves the opponent most vulnerable.
>parry
2 directional, left and right, interrupts the opponents combo and leaves room for a small followup. Bad for learning moves since it halts the string of attacks unlike the other two
so absorb is for retards who just spam, avoid is for edgelord autistic "competitive" players who will complain about feinting if it exists in the game, and parry is for normal people??
i mean i don't know but that's how i'm guessing the demographics will settle
Something like that
Windfall will also be for the people that just want to be really really cool and get blown out by how specific it is
absorb is for /fit/ 6'5" gods who want to show sissy fighters who their boipussies belong to, avoid is for intellectual /lit/ 150+IQ gods who have incredible reaction time and live off enemy salt and rage, and parry is for 4'10" Sup Forums brainlets who are too dumb to play the game
this game doesn't look very good - is there something I'm missing? why all the hype?
what hype?
It's just a 3d brawler with cool hitboxes and a lot of moves
What's there not to get retard
Really mediocre, but it's dumb fun for like 6 hours
it doesn't look like any fun to play, at all - i was just wondering what people were most excited about but everyone here is defensive as fuck for whatever reason
>It's the easiest but also still makes you lose health.
If you counterattack quickly enough after using Absorb, you regain that lost health.
Fun is a very subjective thing user, boil it down into more objective criticisms or just accept people are into different things
That looks really boring.
Yeah I was low on word count tried to be brief, its still a "net loss" of health since you can't attack immediately
Also very easy to play around
see
just a Sup Forums tactic. either praise a game to high heaven or call it shit, people will come in and defend it. call it average and you get page 10 pretty quickly.
More or less, yeah. PvE consists of wandering around a Dark Souls-esque quiet overworld and beating up on AI enemies while occasionally running into other players you can either team up with, leave alone or gank. You can use the bonfires - excuse me, altars, to queue for PvP modes as well.
...
I'm interested, but I'm not paying $30 bucks for it.
Very interesting concept, but the combat needs to be a bit faster & smoother. Juuuust a bit...
I dunno how it will work but supposedly the GOG version can play online with steam, so maybe its pirate friendly
*parries ur move*
Heh, now I know everything about you
*teleports behind u*
Goodbye
*roundhouses you into a wall*
Would this game be any fun played offline?
