>Die
>The game only gets harder
>With continuous ramping up after each death
Holy shit the balls on this game. What happened to dark souls? Why did it drop this idea and become pussified?
Die
what's the point
Because it makes no fucking sense
If you are any decent at the game you have to suicide over and over again
Getting good.
There's a reason most soulsfags started with Dark. Demon's is too much for them.
why not make the game that hard from the start
too bad the game is much easier than other souls games and the bosses are a complete joke with unlimited grass
>with unlimited grass
>"wow this game id so easy when i cheat"
It's an unfinished idea, like most of DeS's mechanics. You had to kill yourself to get better materials to upgrade your weapons. If you're decent, you won't get good materials because you'll stay in white tendency. Also, if a player doesn't want the game to get harder and harder then he'll stay in Soul form to prevent that and still miss out on better materials. It was a bit of a mess which is fine because they were really experimenting with what they can get away with in this game. It was a great learning experience for them.
the actual reason is because at the time of Demon's Souls release the PS3 was in third place in the console race and it was overlooked.
>Valley of Defilement
I dropped the game, fuck that noise
DeS was significantly easier than DaS.
>
>why not make the game that hard from the start
Becauseyou dont know goos design.
>Play good; the game plays nice
>Play bad; the game punishes you
Its fun variety
Adju-whatever's shield and regen ring rek that stage.
play good, the game is nice to you and lets you live
play bad, the game punishes you by fucking killing you
>With continuous ramping up after each death
Maybe you should stop playing in human form you fucking idiot.
the game was extremely unconventional. closer to earthbound/suda51/swery/kojima/yoko in terms of uniqueness.
bosses that don't die unless you find a controller
bosses that kill themselves
bosses that are nothing
tower knight which was so good they copied it into the one reborn
maneaters which were so good they came back in darksouls
the latter games just copied a bunch of shit and stopped trying to be unique.
World tendency only lowers if you die in body form. You can suicide in the Nexus as it has no world tendency.
Majority of players spend 99% of their playthrough in spirit form with the cling ring. No shame.
Black tendency is better thou, you get more souls and red phantoms
Didn't this game get re-released on PS4? Why is nobody talking about it?
Because it didn't get rereleased
How about the boss that was player controlled?
Or the boss that lowered your soul level?
Or the boss that is just some girl who became impure and you have a choice of whether or not to actually kill her?
Yeah ofc. Though a lot of ores still had maddeningly low % drop chances at pure black. If I see anyone with a platinum Daemon's I'm not even impressed I just fear for their mental state.
It also didn't pull any punches with invasions.
>Can potentially get the infinite invasion stone after the very first stage
>Acid Cloud
>Nearly instant infection Poison and Plague clouds.
>Scraping Spear
>Soul Sucker
>No time limits
>No soul memory or any kind of memory
>No seeds
>No prioritizing hosts with phantoms
>No healing restrictions
>Wait, you want duels? Sorry, but that's a bad end NG+ exclusive item
>Oh, you think you're safe as an invader? Get enrivo killed and you you get deleveled.
It was beautiful.
Hi.
>He thinks that FROMSoft hasn't been rehashing their games for the last 20 years
C'mon, bro, it's like you never played anything they made before Armored Core and Demon's Souls
It's Japan only but you just need to make a Japanese account
It never really made the game much harder anyways.
the biggest thing, the health loss, did carry over to at least ds1 and 2 i believe?
I do miss the atmosphere it added, but it really did make things more complicated for no real reason if you were trying to get certain things. you had to jump through 1000 hoops just to get a single weapon that didn't really do anything.
>cheesing through life with thief's ring and arrows
feels good
Only time I swallowed my pride and donned the swag ring was against Maneaters.
Please No. Gods, please help me...
These fucking guys are absolute nightmares. I've never had to deal with such a hassle of an enemy. He's fast, his weapon hits past your shield and does massive damage, and he's big, so he blocks your path. I've never been able to effectively beat this guy, despite having dozens of playthroughs.
He was bad enough, but no, no it was the fucking swamp and that fast hag with the greatsword and just everything after that
>tfw i platinumed demons twice
A kind invader dropped me the grey stone the first time, but the second was 100% farming
What, when you die you lose 50% of your health? It's only used in Dark Souls 2, every time you die, you lose like... 5% of maximum health. Eventually falling down to half.
>defending a retarded mechanic that made you kill yourself in the Nexus if you wanted special items
Fuck off
user, there are three or four of
on the swamp...
>watching a movie while cheesing the dragon with bow and arrow on the bridge
>implying someone did
I reiterate: Fuck that noise.
yeah, i though ds1 had it at half the first death too, the ds2 was incremental. i could be wrong though it all blends together in my head.
demons was still my favorite, but it was more the atmosphere and how the mechanics helped intensify that. I was a bit sad to see it go but it really didn't add that much to the game overall.
I can't find any information on this. Are you sure?
>Decide to platinum your favourite game
>Don't use a guide cause you think you're fine
>You're not fine
>Spend hours clearing out the entire area looking for enemies who drop the stones
>Spend even more hours farming the wrong enemies
>Motivation breaks, Pride has been forsaken
>Google
>Spend even more hours farming on the right enemy
>Finally get it, autistic screech you wouldn't believe at your new trophy that means nothing to anyone
>Next playthrough, casually exploring the area with no care in the world
>Enemy drops Pure Marrowstone on the first kill with no farming gear
>tfw Pure Bladestone farming
Fucking hell
>fuck up
>get grabbed
>say goodbye to stats
You deal 30% more damage in soul form if you CT is pure white and you are harder to detect.
Saw it off this guy's video: youtube.com/watch?v=Q1eKv6gXTUw
Wow, really? I thought it was my imagination that your damage changed. That seems unnecessary.
>Farming grass is cheating
W O W
Next you're going to say using Second Chance is also cheating?
Because Bamco. Everything after DeS was trying to ride its coattails via the "lol so hard" meme that was perpetuated by people who didn't bother to spend an hour learning the game. You can make yourself pretty OP in all of these games relatively early by trying things out and seeing how everything affects you.
>can no longer equip the items you were using before if you specced wrong
that's really my only problem with him, otherwise he was an insanely fun fight
wrong, in the v1.0 asian release it doesn't matter if you die in body or soul form. FromSoft patched it later and removed it from pleb tier EU/NA release
>from the start
Chance is you'll die to the first tutorial boss and then you'll start the game with half hp
In an arena you'd have no trouble beating these guys. They are made much harder because of the level design with narrow pathways and the swamp that doesn't let you roll.
The environment is your biggest enemy here, I'd say.
Interesting challenge overall.
Blighttown didn't feel that hard when you had played through the Valley of Defilement before, specially the swamp part.
Did you forgot about the noise in Tower of Latria around the heart?
So why does FROM have the autistic habit of recycling areas, bosses and even NPCs in every Souls game? I swear every Souls game has:
>catacombs area
>swamp area
>double boss (gargoyles, maneater), puzzle boss, badass knight guy, evil demon etc.
Seriously it feels like what Castlevania did after SotN came out
You're supposed to help people in soul form and then try again summoning your own phantoms
Or murder people like a real man and then kill the boss yourself
What the fuck are you talking about, it was praised to the high heavens.
>Played Demon's Souls in 2009 when Halloween dark world tendency event got started
>The game got progressively harder the whole time
That was fucking incredible. Not even mad in retrospect.
>get to Blighttown
>nervous because there's a lot fuss about it
>less enemies
>easier to figure out where you're going
>get to swamp
>you're able to roll
>invasion much easier to deal with
>bonfire checkpoints to help you through it
It's got nothing on VoD
>demons souls vet
>hundreds of hours
>literally only ever got a blue summon in VoD one single time
of course it was praised, but it wasn't a popular game. learn to read fag.
Dark Souls 2 does this and every single whiny Sup Forumsirgin complained and said it didn't fit the series and I laughed.
and laughed.
and laughed.
and laughed.
Just beat this for the first time last night. Had a blast playing it, but for some reason the controls at the beginning really fucked with me. I don't know if it was because of console frames or that slowdown glitch I kept getting, but it took me a long time to hit my stride. Once I did, it clicked and I really enjoyed it, despite bosses generally being pushovers because of simple movesets.
FROM's been recycling shit since King's Field and Castlevania has been recycling shit since 2. There's nothing new under the sun.
don't forget
>initial castle or medieval town area
You have to remember most people crying about DaS2 have hundreds of hours in it. That doesn't mean they can't criticize it, if anything that means they know the game quite well, but they totally ruin all credibility when they spout off into "literally worst game ever made fuck you b-team". Even the worst souls game is better than most modern gaming trash that gets released.
Bitch please most people complaining about it are repeating shit they read someone else write who might have had 200 hours in it. Or better yet - they're just vomiting up whatever a youtube video told them to think.
I'm so glad DaS3 is now the go to for bait.
Because the developers can't create anything unique. It doesn't even have to be completely original, just have it be original in the series. Dark Souls 2 was the weakest offender when it came to copy/pasting garbage from the other entries, and look how that shit turned out. Unfortunately, it's not just the souls series.
No dark souls 2 doesn't have tendency you ignorant retard.
I think he was talking about reducing your max health when you die.
It doesn't even work like it does in demons. You only lose 10% instead of 50%
I know that, but it's still something that returned in DaS2, even if less unforgiving.
Except the atrocious framerate on consoles.
This. It's why all the sequels have been more and more casualized since PC got a port. I guarantee no PC gamers will be able to beat Demon's without cheat engine once their little emulator can run it past 2fps.
Thats streaming you idiot
Only thing I thought was odd was the game got easier in white world tendency.
