Holy shit this isn't dead.

But now the company making it is this...
And HAHAHA they are making it from zero, so maybe in two to three years.

I think it was supposed to go so smoothly in the mind of Hiro.
"hahaha back us, we are veterans, we'll make this game as a hobby in our spare time and I'm sure it'll be great, we don't really have a programmer but who needs those nowadays right? hahaha"
>Matsuno somehow got messed up in this
don't laugh at this, he doesn't deserve at the shit that happens to him
between this and losing control over FFXII I still wonder why he's in this fucking mess of an industry.
he is too good for this world.

Is that a W3 mod?
Holy fucking shit how this even happened?
How is this possible?
this is three years of "veterans" in the game industry making a game in their spare time.
...
Also three years of work and one million dollars to fund it.
...
This new Matsuno x Akihiko Yoshida x Cygames x Platinum games youtube.com
>mfw backed both
PlayDek isn't even involved with Unsung Story anymore lmao.
They were for 3 years though and haven't done anything. This was announced last year and it's already in Closed beta.
Yeah they haven't done anything, the company getting the project right now is starting from zero.
>Matsuno x Akihiko Yoshida x Cygames x Platinum games
Sounds wonderful
>kickstarter
Is this the biggest meme of the decade? Has there ever been a single game coming from kickstarter tha was good and finished?
>cygames
>mobile shit
fuck this world
This looks pretty good kickstarter.com
So on the kickstarer page looks like the goal was $600,000 and they made like 660,000.
I think most kickstarters hope to go viral and get mega over the goal, they all low ball the cost like crazy.
I wonder how they feel.
Kickstarter shouldn't have any stretch goals.
Stretch goals lead to companies using a low target sum for a barebone game, and hope to reach the stretch goals to make a good game.
FTL, they wanted 10k and got 200k, they only delayed the release by a month for minor improvments.
>Backing games that on K$ that show nothing other than concept art and vaguely describe some gameplay mechanics
Explain yourselves.
this. matsuno is a hero.
>They gave it to the PunchTime Devs.
Kek
This, one of the reasons why I didn't back carnalsouls
Did they ever release a new demo?
This is pretty good for a mobile game. I don't get the hate.
Shovel Knight, Divinity: Original sin
What makes someone back a game in Kickstarter?
>Has there ever been a single game coming from kickstarter tha was good and finished?
Yes but there's a rule, basically, the higher the donation pool goes, the lower the chances to get a good game (if it releases at all) are.
There's a ton of legitimately great games that came out of kick starter. It's problem is the same as all media where most the stuff that come out is mediocre to shit.
>that
>good
are you memeing?
>non binary gender knight
>good
lmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaooooooooooo
What would have a 10k FTL have looked like?
we probably wouldn't have gotten a free expansion at the very least
Remember Yogventures? Heh.
Implying hes innocent and free of blame
>a violinist ideas guy who thinks he can make the next big thing
heh
1 good thing (matsuno)
1 neutral thing (platinum)
1 bad thing (cygames)
could be good could be bad
for a mobile game, yes.
people didn't learn from Star Citizen eh?
Bravery
...
I still don't understand how they have a fanbase after that, they basically told everyone they cancelled it but are not willing to refund the money.
They gave the rights to another developer to make the game, and refused to take the responsibility once they fucked off.
And now he's in mobile hell
who is the third con man?
Why doesn't Matsuno just suck it up and go back to SE? Or does he actually want to willingly stay in the mobile gaming scam?
desu he is actually working on square on the ivalice raid (FFXIV).
who knows, maybe he goes back after that...
>make a good game
>ruin it later with a stupid update
wew
doesn't change the fact that when it came out, it was a good game tho.
Most people in Japan work on mobile now.
I thought the body swap mode is neat.
>t. unironic fag
I think women in armor are sexy
The original game is dead. But if a decent zombie of a game (figuratively speaking) can come out, I'll be content.
From the Kickstarter comment section:
Dear backers,
I appreciate the many questions - both private and public that have come in.
Taking on this project was a very difficult decision or us. Honestly, there is a lot of toxicity and unhappiness, and I knew it would be risky to involve ourselves in this uphill battle. But in the end, I personally made the decision to take on Unsung Story. I have seen the entire Matsuno design, and it's was simply too compelling to walk away from. There are significant pieces that have never been discussed, and we look forward to sharing those in the near future.
In the meantime, here are a couple quick answers:
1) We didn't pay any significant amount to Playdek. There was a token amount paid that insured the ownership of the design, name, and game IP would be ours legally to move forward with. We felt it was better for all involved if Playdek no longer had any attachment.
2) We also didn't get any of the Kickstarter money. This was simply not a monetary-based transaction. We sincerely love what this game could be, and it is our intention to see it through for the community. Little Orbit funds all of its games internally, so that is our plan for this project.
3) We got everything Playdek has done to date, but we are not interested in looking backwards at any of the previous development, 3D art, or conceptual design. In addition to the English design and story, but we also got the original Japanese work from Yasumi Matsuno. Bits of this are being re-translated back to English, so we can get a clearer understanding of his core ideas.
4) We will not do any work on the multiplayer feature or card game until we deliver the original single player storyline.
5) Again, we plan to honor the Kickstarter rewards entirely at our own expense.
Lastly, we want to respond to those of you that have reached out asking for refunds. I can't know the sheer amount of frustration you have endured. We are here to help, but we aren't in a position to do that right now.
Please know that we are starting from scratch without the money you actually invested, so all of our funding needs to go into the game and delivering this Kickstarter. If we start giving refunds right now, it will simply hurt everyone who backed the project and limit our ability to finish.
Sincerely,
Matthew Scott
