Honorable mention to SMTIV and Tenchu Z, almost made it on.

Guessing around 20, most of these games are pretty timeless, popular and widely available through rereleases.

I'm still surprised at how much love I see for Heartgold and Soulsliver. I must have missed out on something cool. Otherwise I'd encourage you to branch out with some less well-known RPGs. Trails in the Sky might work for you.

Again with the Heartgold. I might need to revisit that. Otherwise I'd recommend the FF Tactics Advance games, they're easy but still more complex and rewarding than Fire emblem as tactical RPGs in my opinion.

Yume Nikki is a bigger deal to people than I thought. Actually, you've got a weird-ass list. I don't know what to make of a mix like that, much less give recommendations. Maybe try Siphon Filter on PS1?

22 years old, likes manga but hasn't read much because of specific preferences.

I miss the psx too, man. Wondering what makes the first Soul Reaver your choice out of the whole series though. I felt it came into its own in 2.

Maybe try Vagrant Story on psx and Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits on ps2 if you haven't yet. Both are JRPGs that tried something new with their battle systems.

What kind of RPGs did you have in mind? I had mostly japanese stuff on my 3x3 but I've played a good variety of western CRPGS and dungeon crawlers too. I might be able to point some out.

i choose SR1 because 2 felt too short,also there was no backtracking/side stuff to do,was too focused on the story instead of the adventure as a whole

Nah, I'm 22. Just poor. All of my favorite games are old enough they can be bought for $20 or less.

Super Castlevania IV is baller, I have a soft spot for Bloodlines on the genesis though. Really good music and sprite work, has more of an arcade sort of feel.

The middle one looks like either a Fire Emblem I haven't played or Shining Force II. Whichever one it isn't might work for you.

I couldn't go back to Jak II after 3, it just felt like a step backward in every way. I don't remember the story though, that's cool if that's what grabbed you.

Give Dark Cloud a go, it was compared to Zelda a lot around its launch.

Jak 2's story is exactly what grabbed me actually, so good call. And I put about 6 hours into Dark Cloud before giving up on it. Cool game but I'd had enough of the combat and dungeon crawling. Also the Norune village music made me feel extremely melancholic whenever I listened to it.

I'd argue Kingdom Hearts is more action than RPG, keep that in mind if you give them a shot. They aged pretty well but you need to be in the right mindset to enjoy the touchy-feely parts of the story.

Secret of Mana is the shit and really easy to just pick up and start pounding through. Great game, way ahead of its time. Earthbound is more of a traditional JRPG in a nontraditional setting.

Fair enough, Dark Cloud 1 is janky and symptomatic of new tech being used. There are some growing pains from when it moved up from N64 to PS2. Didn't age very well at all but I'm a sucker for that game.

Dark Cloud 2 is way more polished and has a very different tone, so it might be worth a second chance.

I love some of the ideas and the general atmosphere of Dark Cloud, but jank is definitely the best way to describe it overall. I'll definitely give the second game a go though. Cheers user.

I like you, if only for the Armored Core and KOF. Disgaea seems cool but the humor didn't work so good for me. Glad to see so many fighting games though.

Give Drill Dozer on GBA a go.

I beat Sleeping Dogs 6 times, that game is my shit. Made me take up boxing.

Give the Yakuza games a look if shenmue worked for you, They're about as good a spiritual successor as you could get.

Why RE3? Haven't seen that before. Otherwise give the Max Payne trilogy a look.

The atmosphere of Raccon City is absolutely top notch. I was kinda dissapointed the first time I played RE 2 because you didn't get to explore much of the actual city. I have played Max Payne, didn't like 2 but 1 and 3 were very solid.

I didn't consider that. I haven't played 2 or 3 but I figured people preferred 2 for the more claustrophobic level design. I thought the Nemesis was a really cool idea though.

Gave me a chuckle with Def Jam. Never thought I'd see Earthworm Jim as anyone's favorite though.

I don't have a real reason why, but I think you'd dig the Prince of Persia games.

RPGMaker game, just really stuck with me based on it's story and gameplay

Fight for NY is one of the best arcade fighters to date user. I've replayed that game more than I've slept in to miss class.
