PS4 version has a new battle system that plays out like FFX's (Closely realted to ATB). Characters perform actions as you select them and who attacks first is decided by the speed stat, this means you have enemies attacking in between your character's moves, exactly like FFX. Also faster characters will have more turns.

3DS version plays out like the classic games. You pick all your actions and the turn unfolds.

I don't know why nobody ever mentions this, changing the battle system has always been one of DQ's greatest taboos. Yet they stealthily did it this time around.
