FH was one of those games that was a great idea that was utterly killed by Ubisoft's incompetence. This day-and-age you NEED to have your online rock-solid on launch day.

I don't regret my purchase. It has a lot of problems but I had enough fun for it to have been worth 60 dollars. The main issue with the game is that everything about the combat is skewed to make defensive play vastly better than being aggressive which results in tedious as fuck fights. Parrying is WAY too fucking rewarding for how easy it is and the fact that every character has the same parry is utterly asinine and makes all heavy/slow characters suck ass because any moron can parry them 100% of the time.
i hate ubisoft as much as any other person, for honor in the core is a pretty great game that was shit on thanks to ubisoft incopetence. the game just need balance, stable servers, and more content. ubisoft is doing exactly that, now we just need to wait and see if this can resurect the game like they did with r6s

It doesn't help that many design changes like the paper mache titans and battery system alienated a lot of players who would probably be playing it to this day otherwise. The sandwiched release date and design changes really neutered the fanbase just in time for the community to be split into three different platforms

Not a single thing you mentioned proves you have a good, stable connection that can send and receive information consistently and easily. Did you know your big, bad connection could actually be garbage because it transmit things in lots of uneven packets instead of a steady stream? Of course you didn't, because you are a retard that's happy with their service because "it's expensive" or some other dumb reasoning instead of knowing how it actually performs.
You shouldn't need to contact your isp to freeze your ip. That's something you can control through your router settings on practically any model router. While it's easy to shit on isps for things like jitter and shit speeds form the get-go, a large amount of connectivity issues are entirely fixable if the user would just google some basic shit regarding their model of router.

Sorry to break it to you but if your shit net doesn't work with this game then it doesn't work with fighting games, most rts games, emulators that do netplay... really pretty much everything that does p2p.

Actual lag during gameplay wasn't really a problem, all the other network-related shit was.
Dedicated servers are literally the bare minimum of shit they need to add on. They also need to balance up the characters to make more of them worth using and rework large parts of the combat system to not be incredibly rewarding to easy defensive play, maybe also rework/add new maps so there aren't hazards you can get free kills from every 5 yards, and on top of it all they needed to do that 4 months ago before most people stopped giving a shit.

The last time I went on the game after a few month hiatus I got completely raped and didn't win a single match over the course of a few days.
Not that guy, but besides R6S and For Honor, the only Ubi games I ever bothered trying, I get connection issues out the ass, whereas on every single other online game, I've never had a single issue.
Shit, I've had a better online experience on my PS4 through wireless connection than I ever had with one of Ubisoft's shitty p2p games. Quit defending a shit company.

I'd expect a fighting game to have some semblance of other fighting game mechanics like spacing, a movelist that is greater than ten moves, footsies, a non retarded throw system, etc

But.. spacing is important.... You have to know your range or youre gonna get shit on, you have to be aware of your surroudings...

As to moves, just follow Tekken/Soul Calibur and add directional + inputs to add more moves.

Why make the thing complex if you can only make somany moves with the weapons characters have.

Check IP & MAC binding and make sure you're actually bound to a specific IP. Then have your modem refresh. Port settings don't do anything if your ip is dynamic.

They'd just be different attacks at different ranges and more importantly in this game, speeds. Light attacks in this game for each character with the exception of I think like two dudes (maybe the DLC characters do, I stopped playing before then) all come out at the same speeds which is just parry bait.
As it stands if you've played the game long enough you'll figure out the startup animations for everybody's attacks because there's only ~15 moves for every character.
If it's a light, you parry. If it's a heavy, you make the decision on whether it's a feint or an actual attack worth parrying. The fact that a parry guarantees so much shit in this game without any drawbacks than "lol it might be a feint" is a serious drag on the mechanics of the game to begin with.

But there's no variation from attacks within a direction. If a guy is attacking on top, it's either a light or a heavy or a heavy feint.
The fact that they telegraph that the guy is in that guard and therefor attacking from that direction doesn't help either.
