Finally finished it. I require a thread right fucking now.
Nier Automata
9S dindu nuffin
Was gonna write this in the OP, truly dindu nuffin.
...
I'd like to play this again but my house is destroyed right now lol
Emil are you okay
OP, you had better have deleted your save.
I'll do it once I'll 100% the game famalam
Be sure to read side materals as they are extremely important and also contain a post-e ending where 9S never wakes up and 2B dies from grief on his body not really
reddit.com
did you finished it more than once?
Ending ABCDE.
Also man that fucking demo mode spoils a shit load of stuff
Thanks a ton for posting this, I just everything in order is that it?
The most important are 3, 4 and 9 but generally you may want to look at everything.
How did you like it, Op?
I wish there were more character interactions during side quests. I also wish we had a beach episode DLC.
>all those people sacrificed their saves to help you
>you don't return the favor
It's funny because just a few days ago I thought to myself that my dreamlike game would have a secret option to have a secret happy ending in the end with difficult conditions. The game basically had this. Might be in top 5 favourite of all time. It touched every vidya boner of mine.
Also that fucking sound design.
I'll return that favor another time :^)
Did you carry the weight of the world?
>I'll return that favor another time :^)
>not keeping backups of all your saves
The game oozes charm and uniqueness but the gameplay itself and quest design is atrocious.
I mean, the movesets are awesome, they look and feel fantastic. But even in the harder modes, fast attack and dodge spam is enough to win every battle
Awful game awful story awful gameplay awful characters.
I think my biggest issue is that once you get too over-leveled there's no way to really balance the difficulty out without starting from scratch.
Still miles ahead of the gameplay and quest design in Taro's earlier works though.
Some of the boss sequences get very intense, especially if you are running out of healing items. But I agree, the game could use more enemies overall. Still I really liked going to the deserted town area with infinitely spawning enemies, it made me try.
I hear the DLC can pose a good challenge. How is it?
Healing items were a mistake too.
they ripped dark souls corpse runs and left fucking estus out, which would work wonderfully
I switched to hard when the game got too easy. I think they could just get rid of levels in the game, the game would be easier to balance.
>"You're thinking about how much you want to **** 2B, aren't you?"
Now that you mention it, estus-like healing would suit this game like a glove.
I also found myself scave-scumming instead of working t get my chips back. Made me feel dirty.
no, of course not
You can bet your ass I am.
>To K i l l
yeah
Is that confirmed?
what do you end doing later in the game?
what does Jackass say about Androids getting aorused when killing
do the math
I believe it's meant to be ambiguous.
No reason to hide it if it's just kill. Also doesn't fit 9S character.
Oh fuck me, I guess I'll have to pretend it's about fucking still. I guess in a way it is.
Canonically confirmed otherwise.
I think it makes sense if they just wanted to fuck with the players.
it's to make the audience think he said fuck, when in reality it could be either, none or both
It's meant to be ambiguous until you understand how deeply 9S loves her.
>No reason to hide it if it's just kill
We aren't given any reason to think he would want to kill her that early on.
But when he's repeatedly stabbing her in his subconscious memory space it starts raising questions.
But that was just because the Machine fucked with him right?
original jap script rules out "fuck"
No it doesn't you dumb ass faggot
How so? What's there instead?
How so? How was it handled?
literally just dmc with sex appeal
way worse than dmc
only a part of the verb is censored and according to jap grammar rules, nothing like "fuck" can fit there
literally just retard flaunting his ignorance
9S's journey through the towers was basically peeling back and desecrating everything he believed and cared about one layer at a time.
N2 was deliberately screwing with him by that point, but I think the fact that 2B is the one in 9S's mind destroying the good memories that he's collected of her parallels how his subconscious knowledge of who she really is taints the idea of a happy relationship that he wishes to have with her.
What would be the point of censoring it if there are no conflicting options for the insert?
This moment is completely explained in side materials, he got psychotic because something started deleting his memories of her, not because he wanted to kill her. That entity just took her form which triggered his complete descent to madness.
You're far off.
What was the point of Devola and Popola in this game?
To show how far android bigotry can go.
Closure and the link to Nier
there are though
just look it up
Not to mention that 2B has helped erase his memories multiple times before.
Inevitably tearing him down and setting his mind back to square one whenever he had time to potentially get close to her.
>still arguing about **** when Taro actually provided a canon answer
This is bullshit, ignore this idiot.
Elaboration on the fall of Project Gestalt and emphasis on the emotional fallout it had for those who relied on it?
Im working on the towers in the third playthough and getting very burned out. Is it really worth playing the rest? (1.5 more times)
So what's the answer?
...
Nier Automata is what FFXV wanted to be
Spoiler-free tip: You don't have to play more, don't worry. You're close to the end.
You are pretty close to the end, just keep going.
You're in the final stretch. There are no more full playthroughs after that.
Automata has more creativity in it than any final fantasy, or bravely default for that matter.
Fucking this. What the fuck has square become.
I also just finished. I'm feeling a lot of emotions right now. I need some kind of outlet.
What sick fuck made YorHa with the intention of putting a back door in it to kill them all? For what purpose?
I don't think FF actually wanted to be Nier, which might very well be one of the reasons SE is bad.
It'd never happen, but I find it amusing to imagine what FF would be like with Taro at the reigns.
>What sick fuck made YorHa with the intention of putting a back door in it to kill them all?
mintychu.dreamwidth.org
You're in for a mad laugh.
It would end up being its own thing, like xenoverse.
It would be like a way more dramatic and well-written bravely default with more dump taken on classic FF cliches like awakening the crystals.
Xenogears*
>who made YorHa with the intention of putting a back door in it
Android higher-ups. There's actually some backstory on that in the side-materials.
>For what purpose?
To collect battle data for the next line of improved combat units while also cleaning up loose ends of everyone who still knew that humanity was extinct.
There's variation in tone obviously, but I did think that FF9 shared some parallels with Nier.
>To collect battle data for the next line of improved combat units
Not confirmed. Pod mention that ALL data would be destroyed. Collecting battle data is what Zinna/Number 9 made Commander believe most likely.
>well-written
>Taro game
Just pulls the same edgy anime tropes every game, just because it's depressing and meta doesn't mean its well written you cock.
Is the dlc actually worth it or is it really just the arena?
But that's been a recurring theme since the stage play.
Sending countless expendable units to their death for the sake of evolution in an endless conflict.
For the most part it's just the arena, some joke boss battles, new outfits, and a music video.
I just beat the game two days ago, Sup Forums. Wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Whoever did the soundtrack deserves a round of applause because it was fantastic.
I just beat it two days ago and i thought the main plot and main characters were pretty weak. None of them had enough time to properly develop and their nature as androids was criminally underutilized. With the fact that their consciousness is not attached to their bodies i was expecting a lot more complex shit to happen, and the only thing that really took advantage of that was the hacking. I really liked the rest of the themes in the game though, mainly the machine related stuff.
Well, I think FFXV was trying to be a less intimidating action RPG to ease in the old RPG fans, but their battle system ended up really kind of sucking and failing, and it only shines in like two boss fights. There are flaws with Nier's combat, but it executes "babby's first action RPG" much better than FFXV and it's actually fun to play. It could use more bosses and a revamped difficulty mode, though.
FFXV wanted an open world to explore but it ended up feeling dead and was kind of stupid to move around in. I never got bored running around in Nier, even though the game world isn't as large and is less developed. Nier's moving and jumping actually feels good and different areas even mix up the gameplay.
Lastly FFXV really wanted to have an emotional impact on the player in a way that I don't think XIII or XII tried. The problem is their characters and plot were unfinished. Nier beats it just by being a complete game. It also actually earned its emotional moments. I didn't give a fuck about Luna when she got ganked because she had literally only been in like two cutscenes up to that point. I actually felt feelings again when I got ending E.
I guess it's not really worth it then, alright.
Glad they brought back Okabe from the first game.
For some reason original Nier's OST didn't really click for me, but Automata is still making it to my playlist months after I finished the game.
It's ambiguous because it's both. 9S hates 2B and loves 2B. He has very conflicting emotions about her. I'm pretty sure this scenes lost something in translation, the nips in threads claim the context implies it's an aggressive word.
>But that's been a recurring theme since the stage play.
Yes, for the project yorha itself. Not outside of it.
Reminder that yorha androids are the only line that is fuelled by machine cores far surpassing traditional energy sources used by simple models. Nobody won't even be able to use their combat data outside of the project because they operate at far higher capacity than Resistance.
>sake of evolution in an endless conflict
Project yorha took less than 10 years.
And androids actually fought desperately, to win.
The first's OST is much better
I really love the first game's music, but boy do they recycle and loop those songs for all they're worth.
Please read side materials before spouting bullshit.
I felt the same. Honestly in many respects the game feels like a laundry list of sci-fi and philosophical concepts. There are some very neat gameplay ideas and subversions, but they end up not really building up to anything.
rape?
It makes a lot of sense when you put it like that.
I actually like Nier's world, even though it's not that big, it's varied enough and very connected.
Also, in my opinion, what makes the game special is how attached the game makes the player to the characters. Even A2, who could really use more fleshing out, was very likeable and it was a pleasure watching her warm up to the machines.
Lastly, I think they tried not to get too lazy with details. When you build a slide you can try it yourself and it actually helps with navigating the village. Little details like that make video games memorable.
I don't know, user, when I listen to it, I know it's good music, but there is no goosebumps for some reason.
Nier already made it clear how Project Gestalt was doomed. AFAIK, Automata didn't reveal any new information about it. The little story that unlocked after their deaths was pretty neat though.
