Capeshit is only around because the comic book heroes have been popular for at least 60-80 years or more. Both normies and nerds as children ran around in Batman or Spider-Man merchandise, and there was a lot of older movies, TV shows, and cartoons to back up the dying comic book industry.

Cape shit is only out of control now because Disney and Warner Bros. happen to have the monopolies on Marvel and DC properties.

Nobody with a brain give a shit about Assassin's Creed or Halo movies. Nobody really cared for Silent Hill, and only morons watch the Resident Evil movies. Even Uwe Boll took advantage of the "video game movie boom" by making shitty flicks from mediocre IPs.

You also need to take into consideration that the majority of AAA devs already make half ass movie video games, so there really is no point in Hollywood making them.
