I'll always maintain that Dark Messiah is one of those games made by a bunch of a guys who often said "Wouldn't it be fun if we added this?" over the course of the games development. It's not some amazingly deep 10/10 experience with a profound story and multi-faceted characters - but it's simply fun in a way that video games should be.

Well, there's a dishonoured 2 DLC coming up.

I really hope that whatever they do after that shadows dark messiah to some extent (with a focus on swordfighting) but I dunno if they will.

Not that guy, but I played Dishonored as a stealth game, I didn't really do the whole combat thing. All I know is that Dishonored doesn't have different swings dependent on movement and all of the upgrades are focused on your outsider's mark magic and not the melee combat, don't get me wrong I love that game, but seriously just go play Dark Messiah. It's got the whole Mount and Blade thing where your swings are different depending on your movement, also picking up and throwing shit is better in Dark Messiah for sure. Just fuck around with it user, it's not a long game and Dishonored certainly beats it in many things, but the swordplay is not one of them.

I always found xana to be a lot more fun to be around. Not only was she flirty and seductive and all that, she was actually entertaining to listen to. She was all enthusiastic and sarcastic and had interesting things to say.

It was pretty good. Don't know why people ignored it so much. There were also a lot of spells and stuff that was missing from the single campaign. And pretty viable archery too.

I tried it with a few friends on LAN before, it was pretty fun. There's no kick which is disappointing and makes guard breaking a little harder, but it played like Chivalry with better controls and a few magic classes. I remember one map had a rotating middle point which was fun as fuck to fight on. We tried using hamachi back when that was a thing a few days later but that didn't work very well for whatever reason.

I mean, $5 isn't much for a video game user, never mind a good one. Just pick the less expensive lunch tomorrow at work or uni or whatever the fuck.

Could you kill Lianna then get rid of Xana as well? If I remember correctly it's a little after the choice to kill Lianna where you can get rid of Xana? It defo wasn't a one or the other thing.

I really love how when you move the mouse slightly it moves your head before moving your entire body, not that my screenshot shows it very well. I only took like 10 and most of them were of me fucking with Lianna's body I have played the game since 2012 either according to steam.

There's a difference between being the best we've ever gotten and actually being good. Dark Messiah's first person melee is not good. It's hold button to charge power attack, release button to attack, repeat until enemy is dead. All this other shit in the webms are novelties that you will barely ever do because it's just easier and faster to spam power attacks over and over again. The only time you ever die in the game is when you try to do something "wacky" in combat.

Dishonored combat is complete shit. It's more "fluid" and "smooth" because each fight lasts about a second. You swoop in, stab or behead the guy and that's that. If you do that at any pace other than autistic speedrun like the BR guy you refer to it wouldn't be "exciting", it's DEPRESSING. It's depressing that game developers think you suck at games so bad you need every hit with your sword to be an instant kill. It's depressing that they think you can't handle pressing a direction while hitting. It's depressing that they had a great, dynamic combat system already and scrapped it entirely in favor of one-hit kill presented as fully locked in animations.

You have to finish the game with one of the girls, I'm 90% sure that you can't have both of them dead and still beat it.

I shouldn't be able to spam the simplest of shit from the beginning all the way through to the end of the game and not only have it work every single time but also be the most effective and consistent way to beat pretty much everything.

The game is fucking piss easy and it's piss easy because it's a poor implementation. Anyone who calls that "good" can go fuck themselves.

Two things that annoyed the shit out of me in this game

I only used the pistol in DOOM for a long time, I didn't get the Frog Fractions meme because I never bought and of the pick ups and so on, if it's game where I have to purchase upgrades myself, I'll likely keep collecting them until I either can no longer progress or just before the final fight so I can go ham for the first time. As you can imagine, JRPGs are a nightmare.

No, you'll get a game over, just like if you attacked her before she gets abducted. The ending cinematics have either Xana or Leanna with you, there's no secret 5th ending where both are dead. Arantir even references them during his fight.
