>games like these will never be made again

>todays customers won't value it anyways

e=mc2trooper

AoE2 HD still has a lot of players.

They just need to make a decent RTS and people will buy it.

LOADED WITH US QUALITY

Good

>you will never see a crisp, colorful top-down game again that isn't cartoony garbage
i dare you to post one 3d game that looks as good as AoE II in the above criteria

Fucking this.

The excuse most people make is that it's a dead genre, but it's dead because they aren't making any new GOOD games.

The future of RTS is mobile

The future of your head is on a pike with comments like thta m8

No, it's MOBAs

...

>game has tons of pre-rendered CG
>modern computers don't need pre-rendered images to show high quality 3d graphics

>every wonder victory ever

so post an example

They're not making any new games because nobody plays them.

> exclusively in the Windows Store
there is no hope...

>make hack RTS games
>wonder why nobody plays them

Nobody's playing them because they're esports-bait with shit/no campaigns.

well i mean quantum break got a steam release right? so there's hope right?

They could shit pure gold on a plate and faggots would still play Starcraft, WC3, AoE2, whatever they prefer.

nice unsubstantiated opinion

That's what happened with Grey Goo, with AoA, with everything.

If people were really desperate for a new RTS they would jump on any half-decent attempt.

Indeed, he forgot the C&Cfags

I do not understand people who put these types of games on the hardest difficulty. The best way to play is to put it on the easiest mode available, sit back, relax and build every unit possible while absorbing the comfy atmosphere.

Mandatum

And the SupCom fags too. I think that covers all active games though.

>that's what happened with these two aggressively mediocre shitfests
people are desperate for better RTS, there's no point in jumping onto new games that lack all the benefits of the old ones like balance and developed strategies

Better play a city builder

So how come Starcraft is still the biggest game?

It just became free

great balance, blizzard, gook glamor

if that even is true

It's probably SC2. There's no way to know, though.

starcraft is big for the same reason dota is big. weird quirks in the engine can be mastered by players who put the time in and it makes the games very satisfying to play and master.

depends which games. In some games the AI just cheats on harder difficulties, making it more rage inducing than fun. But a decent fair challenge is nice

bigdaddy

Eventually you get to the point where you can just dismantle the AI at your leisure but want something of a challenge, so you kick up the difficulty a little bit. Eventually you get good at defeating that difficulty and kick it up a little more. Before you know it you're playing against AI that outright cheats, which you're okay with because otherwise it feels like the enemy is made of paper.

Northgard is fun

I fucking hate the new AI.
>Destroy a building
>Old AI would concentrate on other things; new AI sends a bunch of villagers to make it again somewhere else
>Kill some villagers
>Old AI would just concentrate on other things, new AI just spam creates more

Nobody played Grey Goo

Is this game any good?

Been sitting on the fence for a bit, the price seems a bit high for the quality level it seems to have.

TOE

this seems so dumb why would you need an aircraft carrier on land

I feel the same way.
I tried playing SC2 online but it just feels like work. You're constantly checking every building pressing buttons as fast as possible and doing everything in the same memorised order.

It's no fun at all.

So the AI is better and doesn't become comatose from early eco-harass and building sniping?

And how do you know what the new AI is like? Have they released a beta yet?

From what I gathered by looking at that image, they are on a strange planet and that is their movable HQ,

Maybe airplanes can't fly very fair due to sand getting stuck in their engines.

>play aoe2 on easiest difficulty
>AI forfeits before I even send troops in

...

I'm talking about the new AI for AOE2 HD.

>stealing enemy tech with a spy

>Play AOE2 on easiest difficulty
>Enemy has hundreds of villagers, 20 buildings of each military type, and hundreds of troops causing lag with path finding

It's weird how it's improved in some areas, like it can micro harass you like crazy and even fast castle, but then it does shit like this.

>builds docks in tiny bodies of water

I feel like they intentionally made easier difficulty settings harder then they used to be, because I don't remember easy and moderate settings being as hard as they are now.

that wall serves no purpose

It's pleasant to look at, thereby serving more purpose than your girlfriend.

base building and tech tiers aren't necessary in order to have a good RTS. Why aren't you playing Wargame right now?

...

>Start up Age of Empires 1
>No unique units
>Close and uninstall game

I'd call wargame a real time tactical, not a real time strategy. I still love wargame tho, don't get me wrong, but its not the same genre.

Well, easy was literally useless in original, so that's a good thing.

New game?!

erectus

Rogan?

Remedy could pull that off because it's an independent studio. Remedy even had their way with Alan Wake on PC. Microsoft owns AoE totally, I don't think they'll allow it on Steam.

START THE GAME ALREADY
START THE GAME ALREADY
START THE GAME ALREADY

Well it was a major update from literally cheating like it used to by getting extra resources.

But there is no balance at all. It's a blatant retard that's given some spider senses.

>Never walls it's base
>Doesn't adapt to units it's seen
>Gold please! After building 3 ranges and 9 archers in feudal
>Builds buildings randomly, lumber yards in the middle of the map near no tress, mining camps in the middle of your base near no resources, castles at the back of their base covering no resources, barracks at the back of your base, forward markets, siege workshops in the middle of trade routes.
>The longer the game the more retarded it gets, it literally circles a random building with it's units

>builds dozens of ships, galleons in tiny, insignificant lakes
