They are okay but I recommend you playing Sonic 3 complete instead once you get there.

I say play through 3&K vanilla first, then follow up a few days later with 3C just to appreciate the improvements.

Sonic Jam isn't emulation, they're ports.

I feel like the Zeti aren't inherently a bad idea, but something about them just doesn't scream fitting for the Sonic series at all

The idea is sound, a third party that doesn't work with Eggman or Sonic. The execution was bad. The designs were based on Oni anyway, that much is obvious. Classic Japanese Oni doesn't work in Sonic style.

I usually eat healthy, but for Sonic Mania. I'm going to get an extra large pizza just the way I like it with a bag of grapes and a couple of jones sodas.

I've been playing the classic trilogy and rom hacks. I don't want to burn myself out to quick the night Mania is released, so I'll check out Sonic Boom or the OVA again.
