Darkest Dungeon is stupid RNG game

Darkest Dungeon is stupid RNG game.

I really tried to give it credit but RNG fucked me up.

Fuck this stupid game.

u dummy.

...

>Occultist at the front
>at death's door
>BETTER PROTECT THE ANTIQUARIAN, GUARD ME OCCULTIST!

I tried to save this shit hero after he healed himself for 1 (ONE) hitpoint with protection but RNG fucked me up.

This game requires no skill, just luck.

Is RNG the new artificial difficulty meme?

>Didnt do lunge to insta-kill that fat skelly
>Occ in the front
>Occ being that low hp to begin with
>Trash trinkets
>Antiquarians. Not even once

Plenty of things you could've done to prevent that

>prot value
>when health is already 0

You are LITERALLY retarded

>doesn't know prot gives you dodge

Newfag trash.

>but RNG fucked me up

No, you fucked up. Why did you do force the Guard state on the occultist instead of doing Nervous Stab to finish off the skeleton? It was a move that made no sense.

>expecting trash non-character antiquarian to even not miss the hit

>expecting the antiquarian to not hit a 0 dodge enemy

Are you dumb? I'll grant that it could have resulted in a regular miss, but the chances of that happening are lower than your occultist getting attacked again. Why assume the stab will miss, but not assume that he'll do a ground pound, or attack the occultist or antiquarian?

You made the what was probably the worst move you could have in that situation, and paid for it.

desu frontline Occultist is very viable since you can use Wyrd in all ranks now and it allows you to use his stun ability. It's best used in Cove though because of his regular attack bonus against Eldritcth monsters.

>0 dodge
>can't even read that the enemy has 9 dodge
>doesn't even know there's no 100% accuracy in the game and always 10% chance to miss

Go grind your apprentice dungeons .

>Daggers damaging an armored skeleton
>Generic prebaked class system
>That shitty archaic battle design
I see many things wrong here but RNG ain't one of those.
Why is this game praised again?

Only retards blame RNG for their shortcomings

The game is designed around the RNG. YOUR job is to minimise the impact a bad roll can do and keep a backup plan on hand.
It's a job you're clearly shit at. You should just refund it.

>can't even read that the enemy has 9 dodge

Yeah for some reason it reads 0 dodge at the beginning of the webm. I thought it was debuffed.

>doesn't even know there's no 100% accuracy in the game and always 10% chance to miss

This is you showing your complete lack of reading comprehension, though.

Good job getting your occultist killed for no reason, bud.

>defending RNG shitfest

This wouldn't happen if RNGcultist didn't heal himself for 1 hp to begin with.

>jester
>antiquarian
>using throwing daggers instead of lunge
You deserve it for being a shitter

The enemy clearly targeted the Antiquarian if you look at their health bar brackets but because you told the occultist to protect her he was struck for deathblow instead. It's entirely your fault for such shitty party composition. If you're running dodge (lol, btw) you should have a Man at Arms backing you up, no question and if you have to bring granny goldfingers along at all you ought to be spamming protect me on a riposte highwayman.

You thought 5% dodge was better than a 50% chance not to be targeted in the first place? Like really, can you blame the RNG when you bet on odds like that?

He would have had to hit 11 or higher to stop your stupid choices from killing him you realize.

You realize that that enemy can use AoE attack against all party?

>WOAH YOU COULD DO THIS AND THAT BUT RNG WOULD FUCK YOU ANYWAY

Fuck off already you RNG apologists.

That's why you always take a secondary healer with an occcultist just to bring people out of death's door when he fails you. You even had an antiquarian for that, except you had her in position two for who the hell knows what reason.

How many heroes did you lose by now anyway? RNG sometimes kills your guys, but you shouldn't have lost more than 5 except maybe for DD party wipes.

>we were lucky at darkest RNG dungeon so we will defend the game because we are delusional about being good at it

Every time.

...

>USES PROTECT ON DEATH'S DOOR OCCULTIST
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING NIGGER

This game is fucking piss easy.
It just takes time.

>They can't be better than me at the game, that's preposterous! They just had luck in all 20+ close calls, all of them!

>These are the people complaining about RNG in Darkest Dungeon threads.
>This is how they play the game.

>Healing instead of stunning
>Using Protect Me on a guy who is on Death's Door
>Not going in for the kill on a three HP enemy

Just don't play. You're 100% entitled to your shitty opinions, fuck off to overwatch or something

You can beat the game just fine on the hardest difficulty without losing a single hero bar the final dungeon.
unless you're a brainlet of course

You could have just shuffled your party back to what I assume was their original positions (because your current arrangement is borderline retarded so they MUST have been shuffled earlier, right?) instead of trying to use desperation moves they can still use in those slots and leaving your occultist vulnerable. Hell I see you have the antiquarian's shitty heal equipped, she could have put him off death's door if you had fucking moved a certain grave robber forward instead of attacking, idiot.

In this game, once you're hurting like from an inopportune crit (sound familiar) it really doesn't matter HOW much you heal as long as you DO heal (and prevent DoTs). Antiquarian could have saved Occultist's life for CERTAIN because he had no DoT on him and she hadn't had her turn yet but YOU chose the UNCERTAIN method of hoping your grave robber would roll high enough on the RNG to kill the enemy before it could finish the Occultist and when that failed and you realized your mistake all you could do was bet AGAIN on the shitty odds that your Occultist would dodge. And you have the gall to blame the RNG when you could have avoided the RNG entirely?

So OP is retarded and threw the whole run away for no reason? k.

>How many heroes did you lose by now anyway? RNG sometimes kills your guys, but you shouldn't have lost more than 5 except maybe for DD party wipes.

2 because RNG fucked me up on the final boss.

Then why didn't you kill it? Had you done that it would not have used any attack.

Nice /vg/ webm, fucker

UNEDUCATED SAVAGE!

>/vg/ is this bad at video games

Always knew all shitter fucked up to circle jerk on /vg/

>jester in the ruins
>no CC aside from your main healer
>poor party damage

this game sure has some shitty rng moments where your party member eats a full hp crit that gets him to deaths door with a bleed and right after that it's his turn and the bleed finishes him off straight away. but that is rare and can still be avoided if you plan accordingly. I used to white about "muh rng" when I sucked at this game but after I played more I never have a problem in this game unless I take unncessary risks but then it's still on me because it was my decision to take the risk. if you think rng is always being shitty to you, you just simply need more experience, that's all there is to it

>jester in the ruins

Jester is good everywhere you shitter.

this is probably bait, but now it makes me realize what 90% of the shitters complain about this game

Bleeds don't work in the ruins so you'd be bringing him for stress healing and buffs.
Buffs aren't very good to begin with and for stress heals you're better off bringing a crusader with a speed trinket with the added benefits of him sponging damage and 1shotting skellies

>Getting people killed by the heart of darkness
Also, you're an absolute pussy for throwing the game at your third dead character. With the kind of gameplay you showed I get the impression RNG bailed you out each and every time until now. I bet if you lost half your champion team geared out to take down a boss to a collector for example, you'd get triggered enough to post a scathing review.

>full team of midliners/backliners
>complains that his occultist is at deaths door
>uses guard for the antiquarian on the occultist
ill give you my reply for being an anime shitposter autistic

explain to me why would you want to bring jester to ruins. just having a shuffle team doesn't count

What are the witches, spiders, cultist brawlers, and of course the two bosses (Collector and Shambler).

Though I wouldn't disagree with it being a bad match up.

You don't need his mediocre attacks after Finale nerf anyway, retards.
He's the best stress healer and you need that in every dungeon.

While there is an element of RNG, if you makeup a good team and send them to the right location, you'll probably be ok

jester is the best stress healer, sure, but he's one of the worst classes in the game after the nerf, along with leper and grave robber. anyone else is better to bring for the recovery portion of combat

Slice Off is pretty good, and since he has a high crit rate you have a better chance to have the bleed last for five turns which is nice on bosses.

>generic classes
ok

>being so bad you need jester to stress heal in EVERY DUNGEON
is that all?

You don't need stress heals if you have the DPS to prevent stress in the first place. Take a crusader or a houndmaster if you need stress heals.

It's an RNG prediction game

It's not about avoiding the hits but adjusting to the damage

Minimize risk

t. apprentice level farmers

>that entire party setup
Gave me cancer to be honest

>frontline occultist is the only healer

Actually apparently when you get a 90% chance to hit it makes it into 100% chance to hit. Though everything has a minimum of hitting their targets for at least 10% of the time.

edit the character files to give all the heros 999 hit points

This. Occultist is not a solo healer like vestal

I don't mind RNG when it comes to games like this, but when my character died I never said "FUCK, I liked him!", I always said "FUCK, there goes another six hours of my life getting another guy up to the same level

>he doesn't stress heal through the power of crits, or camping as a last resort

>farming

Here, have a (You)
Now get out, shoo

This has the same kind of 'skill' requirement like Xcom. The System can fuck you up, but if you have a thorough understanding of game mechanics you can quickly turn the tide[/spoilers]
Your partysetup was shit, I'm surprised you didn't get buttfucked sooner.

I've beat the game several times along with the DLC and I haven't brought jester to ruins once on my later playthroughs. Crusader can stress heal when needed and camping is more than enough if you have him. CC/good kill priority is better than eating up all the stress damage. avoiding->healing. if you want to bring jester to ruins and you know what you're doing, sure go ahead. but trying to argue that he's GOOD everywhere just makes you look like a fool

>not nervous stabbing him
Dumb

>joker in back with no movement
>occultist in first row ever
>antiquarian in a med/long run
> joker in back row with no movement abilities
>grave robber in least useful row

You deserve this (you)

>caring about rosters in veteran dungeons
>not just dumping everyone you need to level up and send them

?

>Occultist at death's door
>Make him guaranteed to get hit by the enemy's next attack

You are clinically retarded.

RNG fucked me up a while ago too. I still love the game tho.
>Arba,Occ,HM,HWM in swine god dungeon
>Perfect run till the boss
>Wilbur stuns arba the marks my frontline
>Occ tries to dmg debuff and fails
>HM tries to stun and fails
>HWM just deals damage
>Swine god crits and brings my HWM from full health to deaths door
>Wilbur stuns and kills my HWM
>escape with the others
and worst of all
HWM was Dismas

>antiquarian in a med/long run
What's the matter with this?

> I don't understand how to abuse number games and if you do you're actually just a lucky rng apologist who doesn't know what they're talking about
I bet you think professional poker players are all just really lucky and don't know what they're doing too.

>professional poker players

While OP is fore sure either an Idiot or baiting, I feel like Xcom has more of an: "Have a good tactic and you can go largely unfucked"
I think the main difference is:
>In Xcom (the reboot) I feel like I'm doing what makes sense for my war against the aliums and the battle I'm in.
>in DD I feel like I'm trying to game the mechanics more than anything.
And I feel like that's the biggest issue with it for me. In Xcom I go: "If I go in with this guy I'll better make sure to have a plan B or even C in case he misses or he'll die for sure" in DD I just feel like I'm constantly meta-gaming against the game mechanic instead of finding a fun combo to fuck up monsters.

Enjoyment of the game depends on the player finding the combat satisfying, which not everyone does. The difficulty is another thing that DD fans appreciate: Rather, figuring out ways to cheese the game after the game cheeses you feels rewarding to some. The art and narration are review-bait icing on the food analogy, but some people just find the battle system satisfying.

>playing darkest dungeon without cheat engine speed hack

You're absolutely correct, DD the RNG can really cascade on you. But if you know what your doing and manage your risks in DD you can avoid a lot of RNG fuckery much like Xcom.

They exist, strangely. I know two of them, though they both also have another source of income.

Even without the antiquarian you end up with more loot than you can reasonably carry in all long runs and most medium runs. The slight bonus for gold stacks and the 2 extra types of valuable loot don't do enough to offset the extra hassle of the antiquarian's lack of meaningful damage or utility. If you're strong enough to carry an antiquarian through an easier difficulty dungeon, you're strong enough to do a more difficult dungeon with a proper team and end up with the same amount of loot, better resolve xp, and less risk.

Now with the Bank district upgrade so easily obtainable there's literally no reason to ever have an antiquarian. At a certain point you get more gold per week from interest than you could ever spend per week no matter how many red trinkets you feel like buying.

using a mod for this is better

You play like a retard.
No wonder you dont like it.

>get this screen
>NOPE the fuck out the mission

The mod doesn't do enough. CE is universal speed up. Animations are only a small portion of what actually eats up your time.

Good choise. The shuffle always fucks my team up

Pussy

I have beaten the fucker but I thought he was just a one and done type of deal like Vulf when you kill him.

He's like the Hag on steroids

Depends what you prioritize. If you only prioritize getting money and leave heirlooms behind the Antiquarian can still really help due to her finding her unique antiques along with finding gems more often. The fact that gold can stack up even more allows you to throw less gold on the ground and can prioritize gold over the other lesser gems since gold is more plentiful and a full stack will be more than either a jade or citrine.

Just started playing and beat the ruins boss a couple times. Am I supposed to keep farming this area until I get upgrades and can move on, or was I supposed to move on a while ago? It feels like level 0 people aren't necessarily ready for the other areas. Whenever they get to 1 or even 2 they have a handful of bad traits and I heard upgrading those buildings are a meme.

you can go to other areas.

the level of the mission determines what people you can use.

Level 1 - you can use level 0 and 1 heroes
Level 3 - you can use level 4 and below heroes
level 5 - you can use level 6 and below heroes

That's what I mean. There's only a very small window of time where you would feel the urge to discard heirlooms and focus on money, and that's when you have basically upgraded everything. At that point you've probably already gotten the Bank district upgrade if you're smart and you're trying to get like 500,000+ gold so the interest starts snowballing. It's really not worth going through the trouble of leveling an antiquarian just for that window unless you get lucky and manage to pull a level 5 or 4 out of the wagon.

>I heard upgrading those buildings are a meme

occultist is the best healer, I dont think I've gone on a single mission without one (minus the first two beginner missions)

meanwhile i get heals for 0 with bleed, fuck off

That is if you have the DLC with districts. Some people haven't been playing with those and upgrading heroes from rank 4 everything to rank 5 costs a lot. Not only that you should be doing tons of quirk treatments every week with locking and removing quirks which gets pricey.

vestal is the objectively best because of her party wide heal which will bring anyone off death's door if they get there, but the occultist is very strong

Maybe you should educate and civilize yourself.
