It's pretty much pessimism fueling my predictions, but I just don't see it going that way. I'm expecting Marth, Tiki, Caeda and then maybe Gharnef for the villain rep. Camus too if they're feeling generous.

Nintendo tends to keep some distance when dealing with IS though, they're design philosophy is a lot different from most of Nintendo so they try not to interfere to much.

You seem to not remember that Hyrule Warriors originally only covered 3 games as well (Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess).

It wasn't until the DLC and the expanded version released on 3DS that we started to get content from the other Zelda games.

IS and Koei Tecmo know what they're doing on this.

Gaiden was meant to come out a year before Fates. It was created to be a test to see if fans would like JRPG mechanics in Fire Emblem games.

this isn't the same type of deal though, Zelda has a small ammount of characters in each game, if your only going to consider a small roster it ends up working well since your only pulling characters that will have a really different playstyle and story, an FE Musou would be a lot more similar to traditional Dynasty Warrios with dozens of characters very similar to each other, ideally you want to have a character to represent every class and weapon, with what their planning there's no way we get the 50+ roster we would need to make this game what we always wanted it to be.

VGChartz says Awakening also outsold Fates but I'm more skeptical of that considering the marketing campaign was much more ramped up than for Awakening. Plus """"Fates"""" is actually 3 games.

VGChartz is notoriously known for being inaccurate on sells and I doubt they bothered to research sells on 15 year old games. The chart on Serenesforest is more accurate.

I'm not fudging around Serene's Forest for some nebulous sales chart. There's a reason 80% of the roster so far is Awakening, because they want to make the most money

the majority of units are supposed to be comparable, there's a weapon triangle system so you at least need as a bases similar units and the out of that make the more unique ones, you still get Dragons, Flyers, Mages, Mounted, Armor, Archer, Ballisticians, I don't see in what universe we'll be hurting for unique play styles.

the worst part of the only having three games in the beggining isn't that I think they aren't going to put in more, it's that they're already separating the games when the fun comes from bringing them all together, if the first missions without don't have any variety when the game launches they still won't have any variety when the DLC is out, they'll just all be they're own contained story, and that's missing out on all the character interactions and events that would come from a cross-over

yeah, probably male Corrin too, with any luck the roster will just be filled with 3 or 4 different versions of Corrin, one for every weapon type, swimsuit versions and route affiliation

Because in Awakening she was only a supporting character relevant for an extremely short plot arc late into the game, and most of the popularity of the franchise in recent years stems from Awakening.

There will be more Pegasus Knights for sure and limiting to Fates and Awakening doesn't leave you with many options. They added routes to the battlefields exclusively for flight characters. They wouldn't do that for just one character.
