Vulkan?

Idk but it IdTech 5 means no buy.

At least Wolfenstein 2 is on id Tech 6

Why

Shitty performance, megatextures

>Kidman looks like Jill Valentine crossed with Ada Wong

Me likey.

You know the engine has been used in more games than just RAGE, right?

And they all have shit performance, the first game being no exception

>Shitty performance, megatextures
Works on my machine, though I never tried Dishonored 2 on release

It's confirmed to be ID Tech 6

It's time to upgrade.

>blaming engine for bad optimization
Ain't got nothing to do with it you underage clueless idiot. Wolfenstein used id5 and it ran on a toaster flawlessly

>Implying
That fucking game had the same shitty performance no matter what I did to it. It ran on ultra as well as it ran on lowest.

wolfenstein runs like shit for most people

I sure love me some megatextures

So is her character, really

That is straight up bullshit lie, I played both Wolfenstein and evil within, and the latter one ran significantly worse on the same system

Wolf ran like shit for me too.

Evil Within actually runs way better for me but I did play it after the patches.

Funny, it was the exact opposite for me. I never finished Wolfenstein because it ran so bad but TEW worked fine.

All IdTech 5 games have the same flaws, it's not the devs

Wolfenstein TNO runs like shit and looks even worse. Good game but every game using idtech 5 has turned out pretty poorly in terms of performance and visuals. Maybe it could be used well but it hasn't happened once yet while idtech 6 was used well in Doom right out of the gate.

i7 7700k GTX 1070 buddy ;). Doesn't matter if I get 60 fps if the frame times are all fucked.

nu-wolfenstein has shit performance you fucking dolt. not to mention that it's locked at 60 and has poor optimization considering it looks like an early PS3 game. one of the worst PC port outside of GTA IV

RAGE remains broken and all other idTech 5 games have horrific texturing issues that no amount of brute force can solve unless you have a ramdisk terabytes in size (i.e cutting edge server grade hardware).

>Lying on the internet to prove your point
All you have to do is to go on YouTube and search for benchmarks, it's a well known fact that Wolfenstein is a well optimized game and evil within is not

Didn't that happen if shit graphics card?

>There's a conspiracy against you about benchmarks from 3 random anons

You forgot one thing user. EW was played by us post-patches.

No it happens because of Megatextures. I have a 1070.

>implying a patch can double your fps
I highly doubt it ever happened to any game, played Wolfenstein at 60fps, the evil with at 30-40, it's as simple as that

Megatexturinbg was intended to be a performance-saving feature to get tip-top quality from hardware no way capable of handling loading all the textures into memory at once. The sad side effect of this is - even with CUDA acceleration - the cpu side of things simply cannot feed a gpu fast enough to get the proper effect as system memory is jsut too slow.

>implying a patch can double your fps

Its rare but it happens. Mafia III had a patch (the 2nd one iirc) that did basically double fps for zero IQ loss and Dying Light had some severe performance increases in its early patches due to changes to the Nvidia-specific options.

Wolfenstein TNO had pretty poor performance actually, especially if you had every single cranked to max, many settings went beyond the "ultra" setting. I had to upgrade to 16gb of ram(and disable pagefile) and get a GTX 1070 to completely fix the stuttering.

>all these years later
>people still don't understand that the use of "megatextures" doesn't mean the textures are supposed to be super detailed
Megatextures refer to the technique of baking all decals and other details placed by artists into one giant texture file for each map. The idea is that it makes it easier for the artists to make each area look more unique by using texture "stamps" and can help eliminate texture tiling at the expense of having a massive file size. Unfortunately they never managed to fix the pop-in problems and performance issues, I hope they never make another game with idtech 5, not a single game using it ran well.

Point is, megatextures are about making different areas look more different from each other, not about making textures that hold up well to intense close up scrutiny.

So basically like the first game? Didn't exactly stop me from enjoying it though.

Virtual Texturing is the future and only uninformed retards shit on it.

When I go on Google and put in my hardware and the game's name in all I get are pages of people complaining how it runs like shit.

>if you had every single cranked to max
There you go, I played on medium with no stuttering and constant 60fps so it was a good port to me

Maybe you should use a PC that actually meets the requirements

Megatextures exist because Carmack got autismed at repeating texture patterns and thought "guys, what if instead of tiling one small texture we made one giant ass texture that covers EVERYTHING?!" but then he realized that one such texture would either be low res as fuck, or bigger than any GPU could handle. So he settled for the middle ground, which means we got both problems at once.

>Should be getting an average of 60 with to occasional dip to 59
Is it my fucking CPU? I know the 8320 isn't anything magical but I expect more than constant drops to 20-ish frames on low.

>guys why don't they make games like the original Crysis anymore so cutting edge you couldn't run it maxed on most hardware back then games are dead amirite
>OH MY GOD WHY CAN'T THIS GAME RUN WITH ALL SETTINGS MAXED ON MY MIDRANGE COMPUTER THIS IS AN OUTRAGE

Played with FX 6300 and it never dropped below 50, it must be your problem

Oh shit I hadn't seen her yet. Neat!

I figured. Every 6 or so months since release I try to make it work but nothing I do fixes it.

Actually due to how textures are streamed in based on viewport, developers can dictate how much detail they want up to an entirely retarded level. The real problem is that since they can't tile textures anymore you run into file size constraints really fast. That's why all the id tech games are so large. They could totally ship a 2 TB version of RAGE and it would have sharp textures at any distance with the same performance. Just nobody wants a 2 TB game.

Stop using 1333mhz DDR3.

The New Order had good performance. Megatextures are the future in terms of performance. Textures themselves are fairly standard, it's only about how they're loaded to VRAM - it's a clever way of optimization for something that hasn't changed its process much since mipmaps were invented.

I beat Wolfenstein: TNO and TOB recently. TNO actually ran well maxed out on my rig with no issues, but TOB ran like absolute ass unless I turned things down. I had both installed on my SSD, so I never got the horrendous pop-in that some people got.

are the matches confirmed yet? best game mechanic ever desu

>Remember hearing how hyped my dad was as he followed RAGE's development
>pick it up on summer sale
>boot it up
>Well I've heard it was shit on release, but I saw some gunplay and it doesn't look too bad
>Graphics set at high, but not ultra
>Looks pretty alright, no problems so far
>take one foot outside of vault, framerate drops to single digits until the game hard crashes

Buyer's remorse that transcends generations

Is it really that broken? I played it a couple of years back and I literally just put everything on max and never dropped below 60 fps or crashed. Also had no texture pop in unless I did a really fast 180.

I don't know how the fuck it happened, but my poor PC did not like that first level

I haven't touched it since that crash happened because it's probably not even worth finagling.

pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/RAGE

I played it recently (i.e in the last 2 weeks) and it runs fine but i'm rocking a R7 1700 and a 290x - hardware far beyond what was available when the game was built.

megatextures designed for the 360. wolf 2 looks fucking sweet

on AMD GPUs it runs like dog shit and has many retarded issues involving culling and loading textures, I'm on Nvidia now though but even so

Do you have it OCd? If not get a cooler and overclock that bish.

>people hating based MegaTextures
Sapes get out.
