why are monks so underrepresented in vidya? it's all swords, axes, and lances, magic and guns but unarmed fighting never gets the spotlight

because swords, axes and lances, magic and guns beat fucking flesh

>fighting games

Jade Empire, Tale of WuXia. On Steam, look it up.

Because there is nothing different to make them unique. Fists are just another way to cause damage. They need some unique universal mechanic to make them different.

monks are represented in fighting games are they not? and even if monks specifically are not, at least hand to hand combat is

Not necessarily. Take the Hell Suppressing Physique, capable of making one's blood weigh ten thousand pounds and for swords to simply break the minute they touch your skin. The ability to fight a monster the size of a mountain with immense strength and defense, well, there's no need to bother with a sword when you can grapple and toss and simply bodyslam to do way more damage.

>"...unarmed fighting..."
>monk has sword in chosen picture

...

>tfw no jade empire 2

>unarmed combat never gets the spotlight
>posts a picture of a monk using a sword

fighting games, beat 'em ups, a whole bunch of RPGs and MMOs

They're far from being underrepresented.

Can monks even fight in real life? They just seem to chill and train on top of some chinese mountain top and never come down.

That guy is holding a sword, mate.

Because unarmed is a fucking meme and even monks used weapons.

again, if youre counting unarmed combat in general, and not just monks, theres the Yakuza series, a new game called Redeemer where you are a monk, Knack, the Jak games feature significant punching, and Sleeping Dogs.

Blizzard seems to have a hard-on for the monk archetype and they're usually one of the most entertaining characters in their games.

>Can monks even fight in real life?

Not really. They don't do any kind of full contact sparring.

They're in incredible shape though.

They literally cultivate mind and body to become perfect and develop magic powers
the only real magic they develop is becoming giant fucking faggots since there is no pussy up in the mountains

oh shit....no one ever considers how much pussy there is in the mountains. If those monks go into those mountains knowing this.......

Who the fuck needs pussy when you've reached enlightenment?

if you've reached enlightenment AND got some pussy imagine how fucking great you'd be

This is actually false. Most monastery are actually pretty close to small or midsize villages, with some even being next to major cities. They're more like private school for males instead of training grounds, and even then, they're still allowed to go into the villages and interact with outsiders.

sounds pretty good. may as well become a monk at this point

But Monks practice armed combat as much as anything they do unarmed.

What stats should monks have? My guess is max VIT.

...

yo I wonder if there are some shaolin monks shitposting on Sup Forums.

>not going the full WIS build.

Bet you're some dirty fuckin' taoist or something.

Is that one guy stabbing his dick?

probably. Actual Monks do crazy shit to their bodies as meditation.

Nope. There's a fleshy area right above your genitals. It can take a surprising amount of weight and is where his weight is mostly concentrated.

>*punches you*
what you gona do about it nerd boy?

>/fit/ on suicide watch

pussy is enlightenment

They are forbidden to fight I think. One monk got excommunicated because he decided to take his training and become an mma fighter or boxer or something, and he did pretty well, but he had a tendency to showboat and it would cost him matches. His gimmick was he trained years taking punches to his head/face and it made it incredibly difficult to knock him out. If only he didn't let them punch him repeatedly...

STR/DEX with some minor WIS for priest spells and maxed out Evasion.

>max VIT and END
>leave everything else at 0

Reminds me of the Simpsons. Homer had the same durability gimmick in the boxing episode. Good episode that was.

Wasn't he a fake monk though

yeah any real dedicated monk will never fight

fag

>but unarmed fighting never gets the spotlight
as far as I know, all the monk classes I've played or used as units have been purely fist fighting

Sengoku Rance for example

I like the idea of fists only runs in games, but it's just so... boring. Why? Because if you use some kind of weapon, you can get new and better and cooler weapons as you progress. With fists you're stuck to the same "weapon" the whole game and can't even upgrade it, if the game has a upgrading system on weapons. That said, some games do have fist weapons and I like use them

>underrepresented
Hell, a lot of old fighting games feature many martial artists.

>No gloves or brass knuckles
>Not unlocking moves
>Not grappling and tossing enemies against each other/environmental hazards
Look at this fag

>playing games where your fists dont increase in size as you level

dumbass
