Why do you faggots hate Nesticle so much? It's like the best NES emulator
Because you're wrong.
Speaking of emulation, I'm doing a blind playthrough of Super Metroid and ridley's kicking my ass.
How many energy tanks/missiles/super missiles should I have? I'm pretty sure I don't have enough.
Show a screenshot when you're fully armed, let's see what you've got.
You can beat him without any so clearly you're doing something wrong
Just use ZMZ
I always used ZSNES or SNES9X both seem perfectly fine to me never had any problems with either.
Yeah, it's the king of emulators.

ZSNES fucks up in a lot of games. snes9x still works on toasters but also plays most games just fine, so you should stick with that.
Why do you faggots hate snes9x so much? It's like the best SNES emulator
SNES9X is flat-out better than ZSNES in terms of accuracy. It's mostly small details that you won't notice in most games, but they're both free and they both have the same features so it's an issue of why you would want to bother using the slightly worse one.
Clearly. This is like maybe my first or second time playing the game.
I'm terrible at this.
I'm told that retroarch/bsnes is the more accurate emulator.
I feel like you should have more energy tanks at this point, but I haven't played Super Metroid in forever so I'm not totally sure.
Do you have any of the reserve tanks too? If you have enough energy Ridley can be easily beaten by just spamming missiles.
That should be satisfactory.
Make sure you're actually hitting Ridley rather than his tail. And if you're really desperate, a crystal flash might help.
This is true, but Bsnes doesn't run on toasters as well as SNES9X does. There's a valid use case for SNES9X over BSNES, which there isn't for ZSNES.
ZSNES had some bugs in some of the more obscure titles n some rom hacks. Haven't had any issues at all with SNES9X though.
ZSNES was if not the first, the most popular emulator for a long time and people just got used to its GUI and flaws
Also until it stopped being updated it really was the best, obviously it was surpassed but if you cannot understand why someone would want to use old software that they like over the new and improved, then maybe retro gaming isn't for you in the first place?
>Do you have any of the reserve tanks too?
Just one.
>a crystal flash might help.
See that might help - but I don't know what that is.
I've got a toaster oven and I'm running shit on bsnes balanced.
They fail to load with any other core for some reason.
Have less than 50 energy. Have 10+ missiles, 10+ supers and 11+ powerbombs. Enter a morph ball, hold L+R+down, then use a power bomb. You'll burn your ammo to restore a lot of energy.
>other core
Then it's not a toaster if you have more than one core.
I mean like bsnes accuracy or bsnes performance and such.
Well performance works obviously. Balanced does too. Accuracy doesn't load shit for some reason.
i agree user, and i dont fucking care what others say
it just werks
>interpolation filtering
>game
>load
>click rom
>play
Do you have >3GHz+more than 1 core it's not a toaster, it's just a lower-end pc.
He's talking about libretro cores (emulators in RetroArch), not CPU cores.
super mario rpg gets a bad glitch that doesn't let you finish the game on ZSNES
That could really come in handy actually, thanks.
Wanting to keep the GUI we understand. Continuing to use ZSNES when ZMZ exists, has the exact same interface, and is far better is idiocy.
He means emulator. Retroarch calls its modules "cores" because they aren't necessarily emulators
Point still stands.
If his CPU is fast enough to play BSNES it's not a toaster.
People are so autistic about SNES emulators.
ZSNES works fine for me. No, I don't care about an obscure game having strange filtering on the title screen -- or other super minor things that I couldn't care less about.
when you go to the Zsnes forums the programmers themselves recommend you use Snes9x instead because of the higher accuracy, better GUI and sound.
I'm glad everyone is being kind to OP, but I won't. ZSNES is a garbage emulator that doesn't even get support anymore, it was great back in the frontier of emulation but now it serves no purpose besides shitty romhacks that were designed for it. It can't run half the consoles library with any sort of accuracy.
You are retarded for using ZSNES, but this is most likely a bait thread anyway.
The issue is less that zsnes is screamingly bad, and more emulators are free so why use the even slightly worse one?
>purposefully using a shitty out of date emulator when you can download and run SNES9x in 25 seconds
You are either a mongrel or you have some stupid loyalty to ZSNES, and I would guess that if its the loyalty thing, you are also a console war shitter, so you should fuck off
ZSNES is the VLC of emulators, though VLC somewhat plays them ZSNORT plays games like it's on life support.
That '3GHz' thing was back in the Core2 era. A 3GHz Core2Dou is definitely toaster tier in modern times. Also it was about bsnes-accuracy, which needs considerably more power than -balanced (and is only needed for 1 game). I'd be surprised if new phones couldn't run bsnes-balanced.
No fuckin way.
Congrats!
This
I bought a used computer with an i7 for 200€. Core 2 Duo was hot shit like ten years ago but it's literally shit now
Because, back in 2001 (or 2002? I forgot) ZSNES didnt fucking work on me. Water transparency was a constant problem I could never fix.
But, on the other hand, when I discovered SNES9X that year, my woes were solded.
>Drop rom
>play game
>finally can see shit under Launch Octopus' stage.
Thanks, didn't even need to crystal flash. was all set to try it but the fucker went down without it.
Without spoiling much, is there a morph ball upgrade like spiderball or jump ball upgrade in super metroid?
Because I think I missed it.
Spring Ball exists, but it's very easy to miss and you don't need it for much of anything.
Figured/figures.
Think there's an energy tank you can get with it.
...
How can anyone say the genesis version was better when the final boss was shit?
This seems like a dumb question but - after I beat ridley, where the hell am I supposed to go?
Only discernable exit is back out through the acid
SNES version is better. It's closer to the origin.
...
From the acid room, head right, go through both doors, then climb all the way to the top of the dark room. Then head left through the wall.
Protip: the X-ray scope doesn't work in rooms with firefleas in them
So I have noticed
I come to each thread to say this - ZMZ
It's a libertro core under the sweet ZSNES interface
what's a good snes game I probably havent played? Played all donkey kongs, most marios, kirby super star ultra. Didnt play any metroids I guess, which one is the best?
Play the Quintet games.
Super Metroid is the best.
use a REAL emulator:
youtube.com
On the snes, afaik, there's only super metroid.
This.
Terranigma is godtier, but you should play Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia first.
Actraiser is also fun, and Robotrek is an interesting experiment.
Super Castlevania IV
what emulator?
So if Zsnes has been surpassed, what emu does netplay/multiplayer now?
eSNES is better but you have to be careful. I fucked up by loading a saved image on eSNES. On the ZSNES this will not affect cart saves, because cart saves have their own file. But on the eSNES it reset ALL the fucking cart saves to what they were when I saved the image.
Absolutely retarded imo.
*SNES9X
I don't know why I thought it was eSNES
Seriously though why the fuck doesn't it put images and cart saves into their own files like ZSNES. ZSNES might be shit but it does that one thing which is SO much better.
...
I played Zero Mission 10%, Metroid Fusion 75% and now playing Super Metroid, and I can say that Super Metroid is not the best Metroid. A SNES joystick has 12 buttons, why should I switch weapons by "Select"? This game is hard for new players it has too many secrets. If they want to play it, they should know that run fast is "Right" + "B" and pic related jump. I think that Metroid Fusion is the best Metroid I've played and GBA is the best console Nintendo has ever created.
So just go into the options and change the controls to ones you're comfortable with. I know you're not playing on an actual SNES so, don't say you can't. Hell, when I play Megaman Xs I switch dash to R1 and used L1 and L2 my weapon switch. Though, Fusions missile shooting was way too good for a Metroid game.
Use Control Freak. You can have the same button mappings as GBA Metroid.
>first or second time
which is it
...
> not using higan
...
I use both of these.
Honest question, why wouldn't you use retroarch with bsnes core unless your pc is slow?
back then I never liked snes9x and had less issues all around with znes.
anything change since back then when it comes to emulation?
Yes, it's HQ filter.
>clear Super Mario RPG on ZSNES on 4 separate occasions during the past 16 years
>once on 4 different computers, from late 90's toaster to brand new gaming laptop
>not a single problem
You're just talking out of your ass.
turn that shit off it looks like ass
Get Retroarch and play it using a decent CRT emulation shader.
Security vulnerabilities and not very accurate.
what is this
No. Angle aiming in Fusion is "hold L" + "Up" or "Down" and switching weapons is "R". Sure, it's cool to run and shoot up and down, it's more effective against bosses, but fast switching of weapons is important too.
>whines about gui effects that can be disabled
>using corrupted roms
That's why you use Control Freak like I suggested, dummy.
I THINK it's my second time.
I don't remember my first time at all.
Enough that it feels completely new to me.
EmulationStation
It sucks dick. Snes9x, Higan, BSNES, RetroArch are better in every way.
because your objectively wrong about it being "the best" and its a really inaccurate emulator.
youtube.com
enjoy your trojans, zcucks
No, I use a special USB gamepad for 16-bit emulators.
>not having a computer off the grid solely for emulation play
Here it is. It's created for SNES and SEGA games only.
That looks...awful.
Maybe, but this looks pretty.
>not playing the Dendy version
I think you missed the part about the video being a joke
