It just gets worse. I liked Shadow of Mordor but I will never buy this game now

>how do you boil a frog?

WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
It supposed to be my own goty, but now WTF!

yeah. im so shocked by this.

wew

>always-online DRM
>in-game cash shops so you can pay2win a singleplayer game
>four versions of the game for sale
FUCK JEWS

Heh it just keeps getting better.

I hope this piece of shit flops hard.

>wccftech

how the mighty have fallen
I want the monolith from 15 years ago back

>always online
>microtransactions in SP

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse

Well this was to be expected considering one of the first posts I read on the subject was about cheating themselves lootboxes.

Congratulations, I thought shadow of mordor was fun but now i'm not buying this piece of shit. Congratulations, monolith, you fucking greedy jews.

Can't say I'm surprised. the micro transaction shit has proven to work in so many other games, of course the greedy Jews would jump at the chance to work it into a single player game.

good thing the first game was trash so I don't care
sorry for all you annons who were looking forward to the game, though

I've pirated the 1st game then bought it later. If I can't pirate this one I will enver buy it.

Feels nice to not live in a third world country with shit internet so this is a non issue.

Dropped.

have fun replaying the game in a few years, oh wait...

>SINGLEPLAYER GAME
>LOOTBOXES
>ALWAYS ONLINE DRM

>Singleplayer
>Always online
kek

Just wait till your internet goes down fag, it all does one time or another, then you wont be so smug.

I bought the first one on summer sale to get ready for the second one and this happens!

>Always online DRM
>loot boxes
>Pre-order DLC
>DLC
>Season Passes
And the list goes on i fucking hate modern gaming.

>first game is shit
>second game is shit
>WTF OMG I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING HOW THE FUCK DID THIS HAPPEN OMGGG

shadow of mordor was an alight first try of a game (lore rape aside). they should have expanded the namesis system a bit more but now they making the entire core of the game into PTW. fuck having to explore and learn to play the game to gain better gear and exp, just buy it for real money instead.

>Shadow of War requires an Internet connection for the time being, which is probably not going to sit well with some fans.
>probably not going to sit well with some fans
>probably
>some fans

Yeah its probably not going to sit well with the fans who are stupid enough to buy the game in light of this news. I've seriously never seen any article try so hard to deliver bad news without trashing someone for making an unarguably shitty decision.

>the point of the Market system is to provide a faster alternative in building Talion’s army for those who don’t want to spend a lot of time in the game doing that activity.
>don't want to spend a lot of time
>playing the game

Well then what the fuck is the point of getting the game in the first place?

>The game is balanced so you can play the game without using the Market.
>The drop rate of common/epic/legendary orcs has nothing to do with the market. We balanced SoW first, so the drop rates there is set for what our designers and research has shown to be the most interesting.
So I'm supposed to expect a Jew dev who pulled a fucking jew move not to do something totally fucking Jewish? Kiss my dick.

>Shadow of War requires an Internet connection for the time being, which is probably not going to sit well with some fans. Considering that the game doesn’t feature any true multiplayer features per se, this was likely done to prevent hackers from boosting their own premium currency in the game without actually paying anything.
And there it is. Supposedly the game is balanced without the market. Meaning you don't need the microtransactions at all to progress. But you need to have an internet connection. So that you can't boost the currency that you supposedly don't need.

Holy shit there are no words to express my REEEEEEEEEE over this. I was really really looking forward to this game. I almost never get emotional over shitty dev decisions but this. THIS. This is awful.

Into the fucking trash it goes. What a waste.

Will be pirating.
Won't even play it, probably.
Will be pirating out of spite. Might even mail them a screenshot of my torrent.

Rub their shit in their own noses until it stops.

I don't think I would ever replay it. So many games come out, I don't even have time to finish all of them.

Surprised you guys didn't see the jews coming when we got a look at a black man in a lord of the rings game in the first trailer.

>people will still unironically defend this turd

They know the game isn't even worth pirating and are slapping on this dumb shit onto it just to fuck over people stupid enough to buy it.

I never intended to buy it, reducing the game to a bunch of separate maps just ruins the fun that came from the nemesis system

Why didn't the Fellowship just use the Elvish riches to buy loot boxes and XP boosts so that they would be strong enough to defeat Sauron on their own?

my god what's happening with this game

>Gold exists for users who want to speed up their army building process. There are people who appreciate having the option. We don’t want to restrict any players from playing our game. So we have the option for those that want a speedy option, and for those that choose to avoid it can do so without any negative impact on their game.

>The game is balanced so you can play the game without using the Market.
As you play the game you’ll have excess Mirian, this gives you an option to use that excess Mirian if you like. Or you can let that Mirian build up as high as you want.

>Getting and Orc from a warchest is the same as dominating one in the game. So if you want a legendary orc in the game, you can go find one or you can go through the market. It’s there as an option for players. Feel free to play as you decide!

>Epic and Rare weapons drop with relative frequency, and DON’T need an epic orc to drop. Though as you level up, your common weapons will become more powerful and you’ll switch to your higher level commons.

>Legendary ORCS are more rare. However, the number of legendary orcs you meet increases as you play through the game.

>The drop rate of common/epic/legendary orcs has nothing to do with the market. We balanced SoW first, so the drop rates there is set for what our designers and research has shown to be the most interesting.

>So if you just do the normal game, the game will be balanced for that
That alleviates the majority of my fears. Still keeping my preorder

I still want to get it because the game looks like fun. Maybe the online thing is for the store only.

Yep, 4 dollars in two years buy confirmed.

I'm not planning on buying this game on any platform, but out of curiosity, do the console versions also require an internet connection to play?

The only reason the first game was even successful was because it dropped to $15 a week after it came out

If they kept it at $40 it would have been a massive failure

Well that didn't take long: This nigger fucking gets it.

It amazes me how little shit Warner Brothers gets for their corporate bullshit.

They have some of the most aggressive anti-consumer approaches out there.

>Can't say I'm surprised. the micro transaction shit has proven to work in so many other games, of course the greedy Jews would jump at the chance to work it into a single player game.
Single player microtransactions, often with always online, is the rule in mobege shit, particularly anything involving gacha. It's fucking horrible but apparently profitable too. They're trying to bring it to the PC yet again is all.

The fundamental problem (and HOPE) though for those greedy shits is that unlike mobile the PC is a pretty open platform, so it's massively harder to actually make this work. They can try various tricks, but at the end of the day all the keys and shit are all there in memory and available to be modified. It can be run in a VM, it can be decompiled. They can only delay things. And
>"delay things"
even can make some sense when it's purely about piracy. A lot of these games have very frontloaded sales, just like big movies, so if they launch with some DRM that gets cracked in 4 weeks that actually might still be worth it because the kind of normies who rush to play will not wait but just plonk down. They'll take it if it's free and convenient but they're too lazy and impatient if it ISN'T convenient.

But I don't think this single player DRM will work so well on the PC, because unlike box sales it's directly about the long term. So just making the DRM last a few weeks or months isn't good enough, but that's about all the PC can do.

Haven't these people learned anything in the past few years?

>pre ordering
Yeah im sure they will run out of that digital product.

>Microtransactions in a predominantly single player game
Now what game and what publisher does that remind me of?

I can deal with an in-game market if it has in- game currency, but I don't have a ps plus sub because my internet is hot shit
If the game is online only I literally cannot play it

Didn't Mankind Divided also do that shit?

Why the fuck would you play it on consoles?

kek, niggas got RAPED!

fucking dumb ass dev team

It's a fucking BamHam/AssCreed knockoff. Maybe you should spend your money on acquiring some taste instead.

>single player game
>with lootbox microtransactions, Day 1 DLC, and an always-online DRM
I wonder who could be behind this. Really makes me ponder....

It's online only on PC with checks weekly for the DRM

Steamretards will defend this
>b-but muh 1080ti 60fps! XD

I was honestly prepared to forgive the microtransactions as long as it's balanced properly, had a long ass discussion about it with several anons in another thread. And now this shit? Fucking hell man, way to kill absolutely all hype I had in a single day. Fuck this shit.

Whelp theyve fucked themselves now.

Same, we can still dream user

Microtransactions will never be balanced otherwise there would be no incentive to buy them.

pc gaming is the cancer of reddit and Sup Forums is the cancer of Sup Forums

Wow you're sure gonna show them

there are several boards worse than Sup Forums

>be steamcuck
>spend 500 dollars in a gtx memevidia
>pay 59,99 for digital games stored on steam servers
>agree with steam policy or lose your library
>2 kinds of DRM authentication
>Microtransactions
>giving your personal info to Warner Brothers and Valve for free

AND THEN THEY CALL THEMSELVES THE ''MASTER RACE''!

>Fair microtransactions
You're assuming the devs aren't trying to make as much money as possible here, why else would they introduce microtransactions

I thought SoM was pretty fun when I got it last summer. I'm into SoW because I like that it's SoM but bigger things to do like the fortress fights, as well as having Orc Followers and friends instead of mind controlled orcs.

Consoles still get the Micro transitions faggot, you know the main thing everyone is triggered about?
Have fun with 900p 40fps on Nier Tomato while i play it at 4K 60fps

They're probably going to barely support the PC release because they know pirates are gonna do what they do best. The real cash cows are always on console, and they'll eat this up like it was their last meal before they get the chair.

i think its time to just laydown arms here. this is the new standard for gaming and video gamers need to accept that modern titles require this kind of technology to deliver the experience they want and pay for

but no sereiously, shut the fuck up, this isn't new, stop whining about every game that has you do X you aren't comfortable with but you already do all day passively anyway, dry your fucking bitch tears, jesus

Ok, I'll just pirate it then.
Way to lose a paying customers retards.

Reminder not to buy Western video games.

Thanks, at least I don't feel alone in this feeling.

I will say right now though I'm not going to pre-order the game anymore, BUT I will keep an eye on it post release to see how it does before I consider buying it.

Had a buddy lift a physical copy from walmart for me back then. Thanks Joey

Steamretards already have built-in always-online drm.

The nemesis system really did have promise. I mean, sure it sucks a little if you were a fan. But you gotta admit, the corporate fuckery is hilarious, and the dev team. (This is the best part) signed with such a shit publisher and probably knew this would occur. Just shows you what tier they are in the industry, Low rung as fuck.

I actually read what the devs said instead of throwing a fit on Sup Forums. Online only is the only issue. The microtransactions seem pretty fucking worthless and you'd have to be an idiot to drop money on them instead of playing the game

Consoles still get the microshit fag and to buy that microshit you have to give them your info too, but you also imply i have my real anything on steam.

I think it's pretty obvious that the standard $60 is not enough anymore and hasn't been for a long time now. But is it just pure greed or is it necessary to keep the publisher and developer afloat? Is it either this or raising the price for the base game?
Is the publisher greedy or are gamers cheap?
Let's just make some rough calculation. Let's take Battlefield 1 for instance.
DICE is located in Stockholm Sweden. As of 2016 they had 640 employees. (allabolag.se/5567106520/ea-digital-illusions-ce-ab). Now of course not everybody worked on b1, also a lot of people comes and goes to, so let's say half of them did, so 320 people. (probably more towards the end of the development and probably less in the beginning)
The average salary in Stockholm Sweden is 24 600SEK.That's around $3000 plus employee fees and taxes that's around 33 100SEK ($4000)
Total cost for one staff member in a year is $48,000. Multiplied by 320 is $15 million dollars in a year.
For 4 years that's $60 million dollars.
No if we add marketing cost, location cost, software, equipment etc i don't think that $100 million dollars is that far by 100 Million
...that's an absurd amount of money.
So how many copies do they need to sell to break even?
well they don't get $60 even if the customer pays $60, distribution cost and taxes they will probably not get more than $40 per sold copy, tops (we ignore sales for now)
So that means $100 million/$40 = 2,500,000 copies just to break even. If they want to sell enough to fund the next game with the same budget, they need to sell double so 5 million copies. If they want to make a profit even more.
As of now, Battlefield 1 has sold around 4 million copies.
If you consider the fact that not all of the sales above were purchased for the full price. That means they broke even but barley funded the next one. And they certainly didn't make a huge profit. The only way for them to turn a profit would be with dlc and season pass.

>it's okay because it "isn't new"

Honestly kill yourself, you animeposting retard.

>i'm a retard sheep that loves getting fucked in the ass stop resisting it feels so good i'm such a little sissy faggot for huge corporations MMM JEW NOSE YUMMY
kys

DO5 has 1000 dollars in clothing DLC

>So if you want a legendary orc in the game, you can go find one.
>Legendary ORCS are more rare.

Search an overpowerd orc for 1 hour or buy him immediately.

Great job Monolith.

>people trying to convince Warner Bros./Monolith to drop always online for single player
>they simply replied "We require internet connection''
community.wbgames.com/t5/General/The-Market-Thread/m-p/1611280#M10912

>be consolefag
>spend 400 dollars on a console that a 10-year old pc can do better
>pay 59.99 to access online features
>agree with sony/microsoft policy or lose your access to online and most games
>security system so bad your credit card info can be leaked easily
>got breached 4 times last 8 years
>consoles popularized microtransactions and paid mods
>giving your personal credit card info to sony and microsoft

see, i can strawman too

Nobody ever said steam wasn't pc gaming dumbed down for consolefag.
>but you also imply i have my real anything on steam.
Inb4 you've never bought anything on steam, otherwise it has billing info.

Benefit of the doubt, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I'm against the addition of microtransactions in any way but I would, maybe, bear with it being present if the game really is truly balanced so your frustrations aren't monetised via the cash shop and that's a big fucking maybe. But it's all moot now, always-online DRM is fucking trash and there's absolutely no way for it to be made fair for the player.

My thoughts exactly.

I was excited for this but then they go and deliver what is inarguably the most unforgivable shit for me.

This is LITERALLY A GATCHA IN A $60 + TIP AAA TITLE! THATS ALWAYS ONLINE!

WHAT THE FUCK?

>However, the number of legendary orcs you meet increases as you play through the game.
So pay to be OP now or actually progress and become OP later. What's the issue?

>another always online drm
>everyone gets mad
>game comes out
>no one gives a shit anymore and plays it

What are steam cards that I bought from gamestop, cry more consolefag.

>he lives in a shithole 3rd world country where he isn't always connected to the internet

>At the moment, we require an internet connection.

okay but why lol

what a scumfuck

Everyone is busy throwing Monolith under the bus for this when you have to remember one thing: WB GAMES IS A SCOURGE UPON THE GAMING INDUSTRY AND MUST BE PURGED. Seriously one of the worst publishers out there.

>>no one gives a shit anymore and plays it

wishful thinking there, Mr.shill

>Publisher servers go down
>Well I guess you can't play the game you bought

>mfw this news

>literally gatcha
But it isn't. In gatcha games, spending currency to roll for characters/ items is the only way to get them. The items in the chest are the same ones that orcs drop on kills and the orcs in the chests are the same ones you can fight and brand on the field. Nothing is locked behind chests

KEEP FUCKING BUYING IT GOY
CMON, IT LOOKS GOOD, OPEN YOUR STUPID WALLET, I NEED THAT NEW LAMBO

You can't authenticate those cards to your account if it doesn't have a name and email address.
And if they're fake valve can lock your account, so why take the risk?

Literally when have people ever been ok with this even after a game releases?

The closest people have ever come to "forgiving" this is with hitman and still that game underperformed so hard squeenix just gave up the rights to it.

>he defends shitty practices when they are also not necessary in any way or beneficial to anyone except the pirate who will still play the game and without the internet requirement and all the DLC

They had not internet so always online DRM kept them from doing so.
