That doesn't happen by forcing yourself into its space. He's literally reinforcing the concept of "if someone is near my food/things, something bad is happening", which causes the dog to essentially black out and run on instinct. Attacks become more likely in the future, and you actually only train the dog not to show signs of distress before defending itself.

If you want to fix the problem, you make the dog associate people being in its personal space with idea of "something good is happening". If a dog gets a treat every time you come close to its stuff, then every time you touch its stuff (once it doesn't looks accepting), it eventually stops needing the treat at all and will let you do what you want.
