>buy a game
>it's 50 gb
Buy a game
Bandwidth is expensive bro, there's only so much for the whole world. Comcast should go back to the 300GB limit, no one needs that much data anyway.
>tfw no fiber ever
What the fuck, limited download band? Since when this is a thing? I
>Buy a physical copy of a game because you hear it's 50gb
>Box comes it's rad lookin with reversible cover and shit
>Open up
>one disc
>what
>put that shit in
>installs 5gb from disc
>downloads the remaining 45gb from steam
the box looks cool at least
>going over 150 GB at all
how
not that I support data caps at all, but what the shit are you downloading, nerd
can someone redpill me on data caps
It's an americuck thing.
>Buy a remastered 2007 game
>70GB
American cable companies are greedy fucks that do whatever they want as they aren't regulated by anybody. Hence caps where they can charge you EVEN MORE for the service you are already paying for if you go over.
Moneymaking scheme, sort of like paid internet in general where the profit margins are near 99%. This is just adding insult to injury
>American
>data caps
So much for "first world", huh?
Have game, it gets a 32GB update.
Fuck you poor-fag, I used over 500gb last month.
Every isp here in the us has at least a soft cap, if you think otherwise you're completely ignorant or just delusional
The few exceptions to this are small local companies, but they make up for it by being insanely expensive because they have to pay one of the big boys to operate on their turf
>he's not Australian getting emu'd in the arse with shit speeds AND low data caps
fuck this country
>"i don't know what first and third world mean" the post
It is literally impossible to be more first world than the US
Comcast here in Buttfuck, Illinois has data caps.
>limited capacity.
>first world.
I used to go through 1TB of data fairly regularly.
Mega bits? Only 75 per sec Holy shit!
That face when already fiber
>be burger
>see your comment
>Have confusion
Nah, it's a poor thing
Limited capacity and uneven down/up speeds. LOL.
Buy game hdd requires 50 gb
Game is 11gb compressed download
Feels good man
If I leave bittorrent up for a day it uploads around 50gb.
>buy game
>it comes on disk
>still have to download data
>americucks have worse internet than mexico
feels good wey
There are some rich upper class neighborhoods that don't have fiber or even cable and have data limits, you fucking trust fund babby libcuck
If you guys think America is bad for Internet, try being Canadian.
But bandwidth is just numbers going through cables why is it so expensive why rio poorfags made their own internert for free i bet it was prettt fast too
im an americuck and i dont have any data caps must just be people that live in shitty states
Lot of misinfo and assumptions itt.
Most cable companies in the US have 1tb data caps. This isn't to jew people it's to combat large scale organized piracy rings.
If you're a normal person you won't go anywhere near 1tb a month. You would have to have torrents running constantly or Netflix playing something literally 24/7.
That guy probably lives in the middle of nowhere, dudes getting 75 Mb per sec, I'm pretty sure average is somewhere around 1 MB per sec.
If I lived in canada the internet speeds/caps wouldnt be an issue since I'd be in jail for possessing loli porn.
I promise you that you have at least a soft cap. Read the contract you signed. If you're not aware of it then you've never even gotten close to it.
Only in rural areas with satellite internet. It's definitely more of a thing in Australia and Canada.
How common are hard data caps in the US? I'm moving soon, and now I'm worried.
>buy halo 5
>see this
What can you download in a month to even reach 500 gb of data.
I knows it's illegal but are they actively hunting people down for that? I know people who've done much worse, & they're fine
>datacaps
Games, general streaming, mods, torrents I've consistently hit around 500 gb of data the pat couple of months.
Depends.
1080p Netflix is around 3GB/hour, so you'd need to watch it 12 hours a day to reach 1TB in a month, but that's not taking into account everything else.
Downloading just 4 games would put you over the 1TB limit with only 5-6 hours of netflix a day, assuming it's just one device.
In a house with a full family 1TB a month is not enough.
Yeah, I live in AZ and i have a 1 tb monthly data cap. Get charged $10 if I go over that in increments of 50 gb.
>this one guy trying to force a meme that only Americans have data caps
is that way, friend.
>you'd need to watch it 12 hours a day to reach 1TB in a month
What if there are 4 other people in the household that watch their own netflix shows?
In theory, rural, remote areas have weak infrastructure and thus can't handle a lot of people using a lot of data at once, so data caps are in place to limit usage.
In reality, there isn't going to be enough usage in rural areas to overwhelm its infrastructure but data caps allows companies to pay less in upkeep and charge their customers more, creating no incentive to improve things to raise the caps
Considering that there are only a few companies in the US and they collude for their common interest, its pretty much an effortless moneymaker that will probably never get any legal attention
That's why the rest of my post is there, if there's a full family in the house then 1TB is not nearly enough.
Feel good I live in a first world country having unlimited cap and even down/up speed 1000M with less than $22USD per month.
Read the post you double nigger, he literally says i tb for a family is not enough
We don't have data caps in my country
t. Not American
1000Mb, or 1000MB? 1000 Mb is pretty standard even in U.S.
I'm paying $95 for 150down 10up with a cap of 250gb that throttles to 1-5mbps when I hit the cap. I don't need 150 down I would take like 10down for a higher data cap but these faggots don't allow that
>gigabit internet is pretty standard in the US
good on m8
You are like babby, I show you real american internet. In soviet burgerstan we are born into bad internet, molded by it. It took me over 24 hours to install fallout new vegas. You merely adopted complaining about internet.
You don't need data limits if there is no internet mustafa
There is literally nothing wrong with cable companies using data caps.
Start your own company and challenge them if you want to get rid of them.
t. corporate faggot
>t. commie cocksucker
>defending corporations
>not the cocksucker
Do you not have 1000Mb per sec download speeds?
We all lose in the end, fellas
I hate communism, but you're a fucking retard.
Irrelevant, It's not standard.
not him but I have fiber with no data caps
only people with data caps are austrailians, canadians, and cuckcast in merikkka
>>>r/latestagecapitalism
1000Mb of course
There is household 10Gb bandwidth for charing ~$320
You're literally arguing for everyone to be treated equally despite some being able to afford more than others. How the fuck are you not a communist?
The fact that you know that exists suggests you browse that site yourself.
Alls I said was that we all gonna lose in the end, so fuck you dude
you guys are cute
Damn, you really are retarded.
I'm a Fascist
Also you can have restrictions on the economy, & not be communist.
>Data Caps
It's shit.
There, I saved you 100GB.
>tfw spectrum is the only internet in my area to not have data caps
One smaller dick to get fucked by I guess.
...
If you live in the US you have a soft data cap, unless you have some small local provider like they have out in the countryside
Read the contract you signed, I promise you it's there.
Unless you're a fucking retard and don't understand what a soft data cap is.
>be australian
>too busy fighting crazy deadly animals and fighting chinks, aboriginals, and other australians in the outback
>occasionally take a breather to shitpost on internet
They dont even need fast internet for games anyways
>redditard is retarded
What a revelation.
Specgruk has soft data caps, user
What the fuck is with this thread? Why are there so many fucking retards insisting they don't have data caps? I used to work in this fucking industry, I 100% PROMISE you, you have a fucking soft data cap. Read your fucking contract. This only applies to the US, of course.
>i don't know what a soft data cap is
>get tickets to a concert
>pay more to get better seats
>visit a high class restaurant without an appointment
>slip the maitre d a couple of hundred bucks and bypass the line
>buy popcorn at a movie theater
>pay 50 cents for extra butter
>subscribe to an isp
>pay more to get better service and unlimited data
What's the problem here?
>
Common practice in the west, from what I've read data caps are basically unheard in Eastern Europe
Because in the other examples you don't get fucked if you don't pay extra.
You're already paying for your internet service, it shouldn't be capped, specially considering the profit margins on internet service.
>food analogy
But playing along
>visit high class restaurant
>you plate gets taken away from you before you can finish eating unless you pay an extra fee
>get tickets to a concert
>you have to pay extra in order to finish the concert
your analogy doesn't make any sense because you know from the start what you're getting when you subscribe to an ip with data caps. a more apt example would be something like trying to get an autograph from the band at the end and being surprised that you have to pay more money.
>you should be ok with being fucked in the ass because they warned you first
nah
it's not a warning. you got exactly what you paid for. if you want more, you should pay more. it's that simple.
