Grimoire

Grimoire is out and it's actually decent. If you want modern dungeon crawlers, you should try it out.
>I don't want to pay 40 bucks for it, though

DELETE THIS, YOU DIRTY SAPE
CLEVE WILL SUE YOU

The interface is horrible, though.

Any good meme videos about this game yet?

Especially the inventory. This motherfucker tested this shit for 23 years and found nothing wrong with it. Stupid neanderthal.

What are the differences between all the different attacks, like Hack, Chop, Slash?

Everybody knows he stole all the functioning elements of Grimoire from SirTech.

For the staff it's apparently more effective to thrust from the back row than smash or swing.

Only thing I heard.

So far Cleve has mentioned "swing" and "thrust" and said that a swing is less effective when the character is attacking from the backrow.

Is the front row the first two or the first four slots?

who the fuck knows, there's no formation window

its like wiz7

The first two on top.

Simila arrangement applies when you're in an encounter against multiple rows of enemies: the enemy row that appears on the top of the message window and on top of the row list when picking a target is the front row.

I look forward to finding out if this was a smoking gun reply or if he actually plans on suing the people who talk shit about his game.

Cleve has been trolling people online for decades. Pretty much everything he writes is dripping with self awareness.

He's very specific in mentioning that his issue is solely with the accusation that Grimoire is made up of stolen content from Stones of Arnhem, not whether "people talk shit about the game"

Is it just me, or are there really no black people in this game?

...

>40mb

user are you trying to trick me

Is latest version 1.2.0.5?
Good time to start with that version, you think? Since all the bugs and save loses before.

i am sure the dude who missed like 12 release dates over 20 years is totally honest about the things he says, online

Does there have to be?

Nah. Game is legitimately that big.

>pissant indie game dev threatens to sue fan of his game

Wasn't there a similar story making the rounds in the gaming 'press' recently?

no we're on 1.2.0.7 already. You can start on 05 but you won't be able to use your save if you update later

>niggers
What would even be the point?
There aren't a lot of portraits though, you're right. There might be a black in the women's selection, not sure.

Wait what? I have like 30 hours in 1.0. If I update now is my savegame ruined?

Third from the top left. Stop trying to inject politics into my video games.

All I'm saying is if it starts happening, I expect ABSOLUTE MADMAN threads.

It's basically WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST FUCKING SAY ABOUT ME YOU LITTLE BITCH but with lawyers instead of confirmed kills. Do you think it's serious?

Yeah.
>Cleve in charge of patching his own game
His spaghetti code is leaking

I decided to try the game, and if I liked it I would buy it and upload for you guys but I literally couldn't even get it to run at an acceptable resolution. I'm sorry this game might well be amazing but it should have the useability of a modern game and the gameplay of an old one, it shouldn't be as buggy and incompatible as an early-era amiga game.

Probably. Lots of people have been complaining that loading previous version savegames crash the game :/

OP or someone share legit 1.2.0.7 version please. Torrents are still at 1.2.0.2, pffft.

That really is the size of the game. The Steam release ain't any bigger.

Nah dude, your game isn't ruined, just back up the save games and library and back up the actual game on steam through the backup feature. It happened to me and I just reverted to version 1.

steamdb.info/app/650670/depots/?branch=public

If you didn't back up here is the steam db so you can pull the 1.0 from this manually.

>40 bucks for 40 megabytes
kek

...

What do i say?

It's compressed you nitwit

Do you not know how a zip file works?

Go to a water tile with detect secret and then hit look. You will know what to say when you see it.

i'm pretty sure the op is version 1.2.0.5

That's the installed size, not the package size, you dumb nigger.

Sure. The game is all code, not 60gb of 4k textures.
That's pretty normal.

I downloaded it and scanned it. It's 90mb unpacked. Still don't know if i want to click that exe though

I-I see. I figured the compression rate was only like 60 or 70 percent of the original file size, I didn't know it could compress it so much with just a .zip

i dont want to play this shit even for free

I'm saying I hope it's serious

First in the fourth row. He's a snake though.

It's alright. I've already stopped hating you.

Why even bother making this post

...

Fuck off sape. This thread is for thals who understand and play DRPGS. Not for underage imbeciles like yourself.

Because I mad

Savegames are the .SVG files I presume, is the character library file .LIB?

I'm currently still running 1.0, for now I can play my savegame. I just hope it does not automatically update so I can keep it at 1.0 until a solution is ready.

Yes those are the save files and character library. Also right now go to steam options and hit backup games and back up grimoire. I also linked the steam database with grimoire and an imagr guide to reverting versions manually.

If you don't want to update a game just run it through the exe.

>reddit
>uma delicia

jesus fuckin christ

Versions 1.2.0.2 to 1.2.0.5 has bugged encounters that only got fixed in 1.2.0.7.

Alright, backed up my 1.0 just in case. Thanks a bunch user.

So I'm reading the suggestions thread on Steam and almost every response Cleve gives to a suggestion is that it used to be like this but I changed it for some reason.

Is he retarded, there's so many super basic things that apparently were in and removed for no fucking reason, like ESC actually escaping menus or a text box being active without needing to click it.

alright ive been convinced by you guys not to do a refund and actually invest a solid chunk of time into this and see how i like it. Never played a game that looks like this before though, does it take long to adjust to?

I really want to like this game, but it's just bad. What the fuck affects if your weapons actually penetrate and what the shit is the fel stat

Your attack stat (STR for warrior, AGL fo thief). FEL is fellowship, same as charisma in most rpgs

Damn i thought that was fixed in 1.2.0.5 but i guess you're right

So in newer version is meet twice as many mobs?

HAHAHAHAHA, YOU FELL FOR MY SCHEME!! YOUR BITCOINS AND YOUR KEYLOGS ARE MINE!

>does it take long to adjust to?

Without a manual, yeah.

Attacks failing to penetrate means that the characters' hits are limp, this can because they're exhausted and have low vitality. Keep your eye on the green bar of your characters and rest often to keep it replenished.

Increasing your character's strength and agility also helps them penetrate better.

>wants to like the game
>says its bad
>doesnt know how penetration work

kek.

Fellowship is the charisma stat, effects bartering and such.

Devotion affects mp gains per level and regen.

Met is metabolism and effects your vit, the more met the more you can travel without resting.

Destiny is luck, chance to save against a killing blow.

Strength effects penetration for warriors. Agility for thief/ranger

Int is for wizards/necros

Wis is for support classes bard/cleric

Your penetrate is based on your THac0 rolls which is chance to hit subtracted from their AC (armor class).

You damage on your weapon also effects if you will hit.

if a weapon says 2d4 then it's throwing 2 dice with 4 sides, low damage but has less of a chance to miss, if it rolls 1 it's a natural miss.

dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/SRD:Armor_Class

He had to remove a million features to actually release this game within the century. Such is the power of the Neanderthal intellect.

Not really, the movement is basic enough, just perceiving things from title to tile depending on which way your facing will put you off at first. You should get used to it really quickly.

Make sure to turn moving and turning to single step. It looks fucking horrible "smooth". And of course that would be the default option, because Cleve is retarded.

Grief

In versions 1.2.0.2 to 1.2.0.4 you meet a ridiculously excessive amount of mobs. In 1.2.0.5 you'll have difficulty finding any and plenty of the fixed encounters are erroneously removed. Supposedly it's all back to normal in 1.2.0.7 but I haven't played that yet — I'm only following stuff in the Steam forum until I can get around to buying the game.

>I've never played a dungeon crawler in my life and I was born after this game was announced to be in development.

Will I like Grimoire?

Yes, I only played CRPGs like Baldur's gate and other games like morrowind and stuff and I absolutely love this game. It's god like go play it.

Is the link in OP to version 1.2.0.7?

Reminder to play the superior game

>It's god like go play it.
It's good, like, go pay for it.*

What's the deal with scribing spells? Should I be pressing the dice before scribing on say my very first level up? Should I learn the spell that increases scribing chances?

Probably should download and play wizardry 8 or 7 before trying this

No and it has bitcoin miners and key log shit. Don't get meme'd.

The only dungeon crawler I've played prior to Grimoire is Legend of Grimrock 2, and I'm enjoying this immensely and several magnitudes more than that game. You really need to have a lot of patience and a knack for experimentation in learning how the game works though. A manual was supposed to come with the game to explain a lot of things but it's not available yet.

0.5 until some kind user hooks us up with 0.7

how is anyone playing this fucking garbage? You can only see like one tile in front of you indoors, and the graphics are so disorienting because he tried to simulate a 3d environment and didn't know how to mesh the tiles together and make them look right. The character movement in relation to the direction I'm facing is totally fucked. Don't know how anyone finds this bearable

>μTorrent

Proof?

Go to the /vr/ HoMM general and download all of the Might and Magic games for free off the pastebin and read the tips there. Best series to get into dungeon crawlers imo.

>not using μtorrent

I agree with you I bought it day one no regrets.

Scribing skill helps with learning spells. Use the spell to increase scribe to help you out in the beginning.

Turn off smooth turning and movement. Set both to single step. If that doesn't help you than this game is too old for you then.

turn off smooth movement/turning

Is there a possibility to split item stacks?

>μtorrent

I vaguely remember someone mentioned using shift+click but haven't tried it myself.

SOON

>Japanese in charge of not being degenerate

...

I like how this game is constantly memed on Sup Forums but only has a peak of 200 players

Has anyone managed to get alt+tab to work while in fullscreen mode? I don't think I've ever worked this hard to get a game to work before starting.

Anyone who can give me a working solution decides whether I provide these threads with rips or not. If yes then I'll always upload the new versions on patch day until these threads slow down.

>main character's head turned 180 degrees around like an owl so he can scope out some thicc woolf ass
