It's not a 'shitty meme', it's the truth. 06 used very similar adventure mechanics to Adventure 1 and 2, as did Unleashed.
And Colors was fine, are you one of those people who whines about the boost gameplay?

Sonic 06 was a bloated mess that was meant to reinvent the series. It took mechanics from not just the adventures, but also heroes and shadow the hedgehog in addition to adding in all those buggy missions.
I don't like the boost game play but that's not what makes colors bad.
The wisp mechanics are annoying and level design is just long straits of tedium.

I agree, but SA2's genre mix helps prop it up imo. I'd kill for Sega to go back to that.
