ITT: Post your 3x3, and recommend games you think other people would like based on their 3x3
Protip: Mention which game/s it was that made you think "Oh yeah, they'd like this one"
3x3 Thread: No rating edition
Other urls found in this thread:
I don't know. Maybe 999 or TWEWY? I've seen a lot of 3x3s with Ghost Trick and one of them.
Also, TWEWY and JSR (and CZ) are japanese games with an urban setting.

I don't understand OPs question
1/1 (NGB)
I think I'll start Ghost Trick tonight, been seeing it multiple times in these threads.
8/8 (Everything but bottom right)
4/4 (DaS, DOOM, FFIX, Halo)
Was Boktai 2 better than 1?
Depends on what you like more, personally I prefer 2 over 1 because it added a fun crafting mechanic and a more open world than the first game, it was a lot of fun exploring the overworld looking for secrets and new places whenever you get new powers, and almost every enemy drops weapons that you can use to craft more weapons, so that was pretty addictive. I thought some of the dungeons and puzzles were much better in 2 as well, really felt like they found their groove and refined things from the first game. However, it focuses less on stealth than the first game and is considerably more action-y which upsets a lot of people.
>I don't understand OPs question
Instead of just rating each other, since that usually just ends with a thread where almost no one talks and everyone just waits for (you)s hoping that someone says "9/9 ur a cool guy (:", it'd be more fun to actually use the 3x3 to get people talking about games and recommending things to people based on what their favourite games are
I've only played mon hun. You might like the copy cats like Soul Sacrifice or Toukiden
I can tell you like adventure, so I think you'd like Okami. Maybe Dark Siders
You have varied taste, I think based on halo and doom you would like Painkiller
based on Godhand and Bayonetta, you should play Mad world
Damn OP. We differ a bit but maybe Phoniex wright because of Ghost Trick. It's a strong series.
Xenoblade Chronicles may be up your ally it's a JRPG with a great setting kind of like the Halo ring.
You may like Dragon Quest 5.
Have you tried Nier Automata? It's a bit like Deadly premonition were the appeal how bizarre it is.
I hope I helped someone.
Alright, I'm You and I have very similar taste, I think you'd like the SotN style Castlevania games.
System Shock 2 might be something you'd be into, it has great atmosphere and heavily relies on player improvisation for progression for its various tasks.
You would probably like Final Fantasy IX, it has a great cast of characters along with a lot of humor while still having some more serious sub text within the narrative.
0/9
play hybrid heaven
1/9
play chaos theory
1/9
play prey and not the new one
0/9
jesus christ, where do i begin? play condemned
2/9
play omikron
honestly one of the worst 3x3 threads i have seen in awhile
This is some fucking patrician taste right here. Props for EVO and Brain Lord. I love Comic Zone too, but it's a bit more reliant on memorizing.
If you like Neverwinter Nights I suggest you try out the Dragon Age or Baldurs Gates series. Both are also isometric WRPGs with good characters and writing.
This is more of a reach, but I'd also recommend Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magic Obscura. It's made by Troika Games, who did VB:TM. It's a steampunk fantasy RPG that quite reminiscent of the older fallout games.

I liked Nier Automata a lot, but Im still a bigger fan of the OG Nier. Based on wonderful 101, I think you'd like Pikmin. What's the top left game?
Funnily enough Im playing FF 9 right now, I just finished that hunter's festival. It has caught me like 7 did but im enjoying it so far
I already know who you are, so I recommend you go watch Inglorious bastards
Oops I forgot recommendations. I'll work on some guys.
Top left is advance wars duel strike. I have been meaning to try pikmin.
>Game you liked

DMC 1,2,3,4

>Dark Souls
Demons Souls
3/3
>EUIV
EUIII and Dominions IV
4/4
>SC, WC, AoE
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade
I've never tried Painkiller, but I'll check it out
I tired to play Xenoblade a couple times, but have a real hard time getting into it for some reason.
I just started SS2 a little while ago
Thanks for the recommendations. I played the shit BG, BGII + ToB in highschool, and played DA:O to death as well
Try Clive Barker's Undying
Also Descent: Freespace
If you're a Platinum fan try Transformers: Devastation and MG:Revengeance - you probably already have.
Am shit at recommendations
I'm assuming you already played:
>C&C Red Alert 2
>Age of Mythology
>Simcity 3000
But if you didn't you should check them out. Excellent taste anyway.
Actually I think I'm going to try out Bloodlines pretty soon, but I really want to try Ghost Trick just because it's one of the most common games I've seen here. I played through Arcanum last month and in terms of sheer roleplaying it's the best game I've ever played and I see most people think Bloodlines is Troika's best game so I'm definitely looking forward to it.
from jet set radio and ghost trick i think you'd like TWEWY
maybe steins;gate? it's kind of like zero escape
Rogue galaxy seems up your alley judging from DC2 and xenoblade
forgive me for not replying to all of them i can't think of recommendations to all of them
Ok, here goes.
I noticed Comix Zone right off the bat. Very good beat 'em up. Maybe try Ninja Baseball Bat Man, Mazin Saga, or the Denjin Makai series.
FFT, huh? Love me some srpgs. In fact, here, have my srpg 3x3 for recommendations. It also has FFT on it, haha.
Maybe you'd like Kid Chameleon. It's an action-platformer like MMX. Not exactly like it, but you do gain various different powers to use throughout the game via masks.
Dark Cloud 2 stood out. Maybe try Radiata Stories. Another very good jap arpg of that era.
Wars fan, nice. If you like strategy and tactics games, I highly recommend Dragon Force and Dark Wizard.
2/2
>System Shock, Stalker, FEAR
Bioshock 1. Pretend all the others don't exist.
4/4
>Duke Nukem, Quake
Doom
>Skullgirls, MK III
King of Fighters (start with 98 or 2002)
1/2
>Front Mission
Super Robot Wars
If you like DMC3, try God Hand. They're very different games in many ways, but DMC3 was my favorite game in the action or character action or stylish action or whatever you want to call it, until I played God Hand which kicked DMC3 off its throne with ease.
You're a tough one, im not huge on 4x or city builder. based on your general love of tactics though, I think you would like Battle Brothers. It's not really as big of a scale of but it has a lot of those elements in the battles
I think you would like pacman or tetris based on pinball
actual recommendation is to go play strider, the original one
You'd possibly like Dragons Dogma based on Demon's Souls or DMC
Based on FEAR and STALKER, I think you would like Metro. fair warning, it's pretty linear
You might like the sonic series in general based on mario and megaman, only play the older ones
I tried to get into Rogue galaxy, but when I got to the Forrest world I decided to look up a weapon guide and was turned off immensely. Do I need to worry about my weapons and stuff or will I be ok just playing the game normally?
I recommend you play Phoenix right based off 999 and TWEWY
Thanks, I've never actual heard anything about that game. Mind explaining it a bit?
Also props for having arc the lad, you would like Jeanne D'Arc
>TWEY
This is another game I've been seeing a lot, what separates it from other turn based JRPGs?
Truth be told, i only got as far as chapter 6 of rogue galaxy so i can't say for sure, but so far i've had no trouble just using weapons from shops and treasure chests
and thanks for the rec, i've beaten all the AA games except the more recent ones and investigations, pretty good games
assuming you meant TWEWY, it's not turn based for starters. it's action RPG where you use both of the screens at once for combat, and it was set in a modern urban setting before it was a more common jrpg trend
it's very unique in general
>Thanks, I've never actual heard anything about that game. Mind explaining it a bit?
Which game? I'm not 100% sure which person you are.
Oh ok, is the combat itself pretty fun?
play breakdown
6/5 +Trails in the Sky, Persona 3, Wind Waker, Xenoblade, and Bloodborne. You get an extra point for having Trails and everything else on it being something I've been wanting to play. Excellent taste. Can't really think of anything to recommend except maybe mainline SMT, based on P3. I dunno, play more trails games?
3/4 +Bloodborne, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade; -Persona 4 Golden. I can't stand that there's absolutely no buildup to the end where pretty much everything in the plot happens all at once. Maybe try the Trails games if you liked Xenoblade.
I think I rated you last thread but I'll go ahead and do it again.
6/6 +Super Metroid, Wind Waker, P5, Galaxy 2, Bayo, MGS2. None of them in particular stand out to me but great games nonetheless.
I think you might like Ys games, they're action RPGs with great bosses, based on the character actions and Metroidvanias.
it's a lot of fun, but you could make it to the end of game without being close to mastering the coordination (wich can be seen as a positive in its own way), there's also a lot of variety since the attacks you can do on the lower screen are determined by pins of wich there are 300+
>I think you might like Ys games
I was actually thinking about getting into the Trails games, I should start with the Trails in the Sky trilogy right?
t-thanks user
i've played every trails i can, believe me
as for SMT i've only beaten IV and IVA, have at least started almost every other relevant SMT though
My bad, you recommended Radiata Stories
Cool, I'll give it another go then thanks
You mean the Izanami stuff? Yeah it really does come out of nowhere, even if they did foreshadow a bit with your persona and that lesson on Izanami. My first playthrough I didn't find Izanami though, so I was pretty shocked on my second run when there was more content. I think marie was their attempt to sign more, if pretty bad
I've never played a trails game, where's the best place to start?
You might like The Witcher games based on DA:O and Dark Souls
>UFO: Enemy Unknown
I suggest XCOM: Terrors from the Deep and Syndicate.
>Dark Messiah
Dishonoured. Same dev and similar combat. Only difference is Dishonored is more stealth-oriented.
>Duke Nukem 3D
Redneck Rampage and Blood. Don't play Blood 2 though, it kinda sucks.
>Mortal Kombat 3
Killer Instinct on SNES.
>Radiata Stories
Ok. It's a 3D arpg for the PS2, by tri-Ace. It's fairly non-linear with multiple story paths. It's most known for the huge number of characters you can recruit, over 150 different characters. It has a night and day system with a persistent world and NPCs who have their own schedules instead of just standing in one spot at all times. Combat is a little like the 3D Tales games in that you see monsters on the map, rather than random encounters, and then enter into a seperate battle screen, where the combat is 3D arpg combat with menus, and you control the main character while the AI controls your allies.
>150 different characters
oy vey, do any of the characters have a personality or is it like chrono cross where they're very one-note? Other than that it sounds fun, I'll definitely check it out
bump
3/4
>Dark Souls
Demons Souls
Some have personalities that are fleshed out a bit more, lots are fairly one-note, basically like CC or the Suikoden games or pretty much any jrpg ever with a huge cast of playables.
>Brain Lord
my nigga
...
I feel like this would be like recommending things to myself
Yeah, that's the first arc of them. The order for the entire series is: Trails in the Sky >Trails in the Sky SC > Trails in the Sky the 3rd >> Zero no Kiseki > Ao no Kiseki (these two aren't localized but there's shitty fan patches with better ones on the way) >> Trails of Cold Steel > Trails of Cold Steel 2 > Trails of Cold Steel 3
You can honestly start from Cold Steel since it's more beginner friendly and easier to get into, but if you want to get balls deep into what makes the games great my advice is to start with Sky. Definitely don't start with Zero, it references sky a lot more than cold steel references other games. They're a slow burn, but if you have the patience you're in for something that could actually, seriously be called an epic.
Good on you user, IV is great. Maybe you'd like Raidou? Give it a shot, it's jazzy
Less so that it feels like an asspull, and moreso that the game feels paced poorly to me. Aside from saving people, pretty much nothing matters in P4G's plot after the beginning until Namatame's arc, and that's like 3/4 of the way through the game. And yeah, I've been meaning to try The Witcher, a friend of mine's been loving them.
I love Demon's Souls a lot. I'd say that in many of the most important ways it's better than Dark Souls, but something about Dark 1 keeps me coming back. I can't really explain why.
Brother.
Morrowind
F.E.A.R.
No One Lives Forever 2
I have a feeling you 3 have probably played each recommendation already but I don't know anything else.
raidou is indeed jazzy as fuck but as a tales guy i can't get over how shit the combat in it is
I hated it at first too, but it bothered me less as I went. The way I like to see it is that Raidou isn't an action RPG, it's a detective adventure game. Maybe approaching it with that mindset will help, but I really can't blame you if the combat drags down the experience for you too much.
>They're a slow burn, but if you have the patience you're in for something that could actually, seriously be called an epic.
From what I've read the attention to detail with NPC dialogs and world building is pretty much unmatched as far as JRPGs go, so it definitely sounds like an investment wort taking. Thanks for the in depth response, I plan to get around to them soon.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R would be right up your ally.

You should play Jet Set Radio.
It's the not-shit version of Jet Set Radio Future.
>Fable.
>Knights of the Old Republic.
Just throw some dog shit at your TV and pretend it's a game. It'd probably be a better experience. I kinda feel bad for you. As for my mosaic, I'm replacing HATRED with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice when I finish it. Game's unreal. Truly dope.
Dragon Age II has a cool protagonist.
>talks shit

>The Order

>Hating fun.
There's nothing to explain. It's a masterpiece. You don't pay attention to Metacritic, do you?
I really like spooky games, not the straight horror type of spooky. The comical spooky in particular
I see you in every one of these threads and without fail people are always triggered by your 3x3.
2/2
Starting to sound like a broken record, but:
>GnG, DmC
Demons Souls
>It's the not-shit version of Jet Set Radio Future.
Are you from bizarro world?
Yeah i've played the Souls games up to 2. Of them Demon's did leave the biggest impression on me overall.
if all everyone keeps recommending are the Souls games, i'll recommend Severance, Die by the Sword and Rune
3x3 really isn't enough slots to tell anything
>It's a masterpiece.
The game's art directions and graphics are masterful, the rest not so much though. It's six hours of an incredibly average third person shooter with a story that goes nowhere and sets up a sequel that will never happen.
It's pretty much the epitome of a 5/10 game, I don't regret spending $5 on it but I don't think it's worth much more than that.
If The Order has average shooting mechanics, Resident Evil 4 is a solid 3/10.

I guess try SotC or Ico if you haven't if you like games like Klonoa.
>6/8
Not a fan of Final Fantasy and Harvest Moon. If you ever get the chance to play Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage on N64 I feel that would meet your vibe.
Was Kane & Lynch actually any good. It was my first Xbox 360 game and I ended up trading it in for Halo 3. Did not regret.

5/5, currently playing through SotN and loving it. Just started the inverted castle. Which Castlevania should I go to next?
5/5, try Contact. A weird little RPG about the relationship between player and game.
3/4
Literally nothing, but I played Age of Empires 1 and 2 back in the day. You seem like a purist, and I mean that in a good way. Maybe Risk of Rain or Ikaruga to try something still very purist but different.
1/2
Also none, but VTMB and STALKER are on my to-play list.
2/4, Spelunky
5/5, Ever 17
Please recommend me something interesting.
7/8 excellent taste
>Which Castlevania should I go to next?
Aria of Sorrow if you want more of Symphony of the Night, it fixes most of my issues with SotN (backtracking through long corridors with nothing but enemies, much better difficulty, platforming never becomes trivialized) and adds a new Soul system which gives unique abilities relating to different enemies you kill.
Or you could try a Classicvania which are more linear and action based as well as far more difficult. If you want to try one of those out I'd say Super Castlevania IV.
What's the game in the bottom right corner? I remember playing something similar and shittier on the PS1 when I was younger.
Intelligent Qube. It's on the PS1 so I'm pretty sure it's the same game and you just didn't care for it.
I played some of the old school ones when I was younger but couldn't get into it. This has really been the first one I've invested myself in. What about the DS ones? What's the best? I try to play series worst to best so I can enjoy the progression, but are any of them not worth bothering with at all?
good taste
If you're talking strictly about the Igavanias (SotN and up) then HoD is absolutely the worst. SotN or AoS are considered the best, I prefer AoS because like I said it fixes a lot of my problems with SotN. After those two I'd probably say DoS > PoR > CotM > HoD and then there's OoE which is sort of a weird hybrid between classics and SotN style. It's kind of like the Metroid Fusion of the series if you're familar with that game at all, it's worth checking out as it's good but I'm not sure I'd say it's comparable to the others.
5/5
play Otocky if you like Rez
4/4 - CT,BB,SM,Metroid
Try radiant historia or Ys oath/origin
ive played those already. great games
I'll definitely play Aria of Sorrow, then. Thanks for your help! Seems like my CFW PSP will be able to play most of this, and the rest goes on the R4. Also, Metroid Fusion is the only Metroid game I've ever played, so I wouldn't know the difference.
>Metroid Fusion is the only Metroid game
not him but play the rest esp. SM, ZM and AM2R and the primes
Typically Metroid games feature more elaborate and interconnected map design and lead the player along the path through environmental means (kind of hard to explain through text) rather than being directed like you are in Fusion.
I love Fusion, but it's pretty different from Super, ZM and Prime. If you like Aria of Sorrow then you should definitely check out all three of those games though.
I bought the trilogy when 4 was announced and got about 4 hours into the first game but I've forgotten to go back to it. The backtracking kinda turned me off.
