Took me a very very very long time

How to win war? Enemies can and will avoid their manpower being drained while for some reason I keep rolling bad general and theirs 5/5/5

>using that shit client state instead of just releasing actual Kiev and letting them form Ruthenia

because they spam mercs, and you should too

I've been staying up til 5AM all night lately for Operation Iraqi Freedom (colonizing/conquering all of the United States as Iraq)

Ally the right people and go in from multiple fronts.
Make sure to have army maintenance up for maximum morale

Lebensraum
Sounds fun, post it on youtube or something.

post pics

also switch to the CN, form iraqi USA and manifest destiny

Yeah, I know Ming often does it, but most of the time I have no money.

take loans

debt > losing

I always plays small or OPM. The problem I dread the most is overextension btw, I can always wins a long war.

I'll post some pics but currently I'm kind of fucked, it's 1710 just about and all I have left to take on is England. He has the entire east coast, I have the Ottomans on my side in the war but unfortunately he's about 2 or 3 military tech levels ahead of me. So it's gonna take a while to unfuck myself in this next war

>Snow nigger making disgusting fucked up blob borders

Nothing out of the ordinary I suppose.

Colonial nations are about the only place where it's acceptable to blob imo. Who doesn't want Swedish Ohio?

if you manage to get a cn there you can take all of it in one war

go user keep the anglo scum on their shitty rain island

Situation is looking better by the minute. I won't be able to take it all in this war, but I think I'll be able to take the Midwest at least. Pretty kino right desu?

breddy good

sucks they would form california instead of usa but it still works

I had to approach it from the East, colonial capabilities as Iraq don't get gud for a while.

Also I think it kind of makes more sense in terms of the culture, considering the terrain in California is more similar to the Middle East than on the east coast. I'm kind of an autistic LARPer when i play these games

Japan is the most fun nation in EU4. Already did like 10 runs
This is fairly old screenshot, I later annexed remnants of Korea, and started to expand into indochina, vietnam etc... Unfortunately I fell like 3 levels behind on military tech and got rekt by some nations in indochina, I didnt finish the run. Still one of the best nations to paint as

>once annexed entire Japan as one of the southern daimyo in only 20 years or so
>now can only do it after 60 years
Wonder it's because I takes loan at that time.

What should my next game be bros?

it's easier than ever to unite japan now, you probably just weren't going fast enough

Ck2

I'm good, I only have EU4

Serbia is the best

Can you post more maps
Im bored

fuck off user, i'm not your girlfriend

Colonial super-power Japan

>he never wc as albania
what r u? casul?

Here, my recently near-completed Hindustan game. The first time I've ever had any success invading Europe as a third world shithole

Post more maps cunt

Forgot pic

I don't see any hindustan in europe smfh

Bro

just like irl

>still ming's bitch

disgusting

you must have twice their development by now

Looks the same as modern london?

In that specific run I united japan really flawlessly, not a single loan taken if I remember correctly, did it as shimazu in like 20 years. Sometimes it depends on luck.

london is full of arabs not indians you dumb fuck

Lol I just recently finished up India, I didn't want to drop tributary before I had all of Ming's tributary states I was interested in first. Just canceled, happy now?

You'll be happy to see this too I suppose, full religious ideas. Wish I had time to convert culture

Hindustan is basically Paki India to be fair

clearly you haven't since you're not a GP yet

probably takes time to kick in, idk

and it's full of both, by the way

Ally with someone, get full manpower and beat the shit out of ming. And do something about your corruption man

It's the rebel that caused me most problem.

Nah I'm done with this game, I want to do something else now. Probably going to try out Morocco > Andalusia next and get a big Brazilian colony + Mexico or some shit

...

T. Person that never has been in london

forming andalusia as anything but granada is pleb tier

also completely shift culture group so it does more harm than good

I just fail miserably at the Granada start every time I attempt it. I'm 2000 hours in and still getting the hang of this game lol

...

vassalize tlemcen and ally tunis, you'll be fine

you could also cheese an alliance with france if you really want an easy time

...

pleb tier blobbing, 0/10
no purpose, no reason.

My very first game and I'm proud of it, even if ottomans feels like easy mode

this is what everyone's first game looks like i think

Reason was the clean up the borders of europe

this is what every AI ottoman game looks like when the player doesn't intervene

>spamming mercs
>this patch

You know you can win literally any war by choking them out, because AI doesn't realize that mercs cost a ton right now and they literally have their country destroyed by mass recruiting them

>75,362 words

Coming from EU3 what DLC's are essential for EU4?

all of them unfortunately

Lads, how do I into wars? I factually cannot beat the doomstacks the AI brings.

I'm honestly more proud of the AIs than anything

particularly Kazan beating muscovy and Italy forming

also is that Breton france and Spanish japan?

You might as well pirate all the dlcs if you plan on playing eu 4.

I'm going to, just wanted to see if all are necessary/optimal

>tfw when to dumb too play grand strategy games

There is scarcely a situation where there are absolutely no allies available and/or you cannot loan up like everyone else and raise some (temporary) doomstacks of your own. Sometimes you need to do what needs to be done for survival. Debt is your friend. And there's plenty of time to pay it down

Common Sense, Mandate of Heaven and Rights of Man are pretty vital. There are some that only apply to specific regions but they really are shitheads about putting important features in otherwise useless DLCs, fucking Paradox.

>debt

Christ, this always spooked me. Might start a fresh save soon and get in to bed with debt and mercs then.

But I was wondering more about stack composition. Even after reading wikis I still can't wrap my head around it completely.

>tfw colonial game

1. If you play fucking Gelre you're not gonna beat France, so get good fucking alliances
2. You need a good army composition, something like 40%-5%-40% inf/cav/art
3. Naval warfare is boring af but necessary when sieging port provinces, and can give you a ton of warscore
4. Don't be afraid to go in debt just to get that small push to get ahead
5. You don't need a 100% warscore everytime, just settle for small wins to get going early

>40%-5%-40% inf/cav/art

That'll do, I'll start from there and see what happens then. I'm guessing it's different as art isn't important early game, right?

And with respect to Naval is it better to split into smaller stacks to blockade and only regroup when their flotilla arrives, or is it more effective to fewer but larger stacks?

Just try it, manage your loans, actually pay attention to your estates (you can pay off your loans quicker by levying funds from burghers etc). You can shake down other nations for cash too. Pay attention to how many loans you have vs how many you can take, and get economic ideas or a yearly inflation reduction guy. It's not hard to get in the black in this game and 99% of the time a situation is much more manageable than you think, if only you are willing to take the hard risks necessary to survive.

Mid-late game my main stacks are 16-4-16

Always get the Discipline military advisor too.

Always try to get 100% blockade, it's not really worth if it's under 100%. I tend to only split the main fleet during peace time, when I send them out protecting trade power/hunting pirates, but during war I group them up. I only split when I'm completely sure that each stack can take out the enemy fleet, so don't do that during war with Britain or Portugal with their 80+ naval stacks.

if you're in europe you can just beat up OPMs for thousands of ducats

the hanseatic cities like lubeck and hamburg are basically get out of debt free cards, but most OPMs generally amass large treasuries if their neighbors don't beat it out of them first, especially natives

daily reminder that you should never build galleys ever for any reason except strait cheesing

Alright, Granada I guess. Let's do this.

Ah shit, fair play. Admittedly it's been a while since I've last played, but as I normally played Ironman mode, I was always terrified of getting into a negative cycle of endless debt leading me to not being able to improve any buildings that would allow me to actually pay off my debts.

>tfw spending £45 on """"""expansions""""" just so I don't get jewed out of in-game mechanics that I can't use but the AI can just because I don't have said xpacs

how did you write all of this down

you can vassalize tlemcen in one war

morocco's mountain forts will save your life

build up 100 relations with France so when maine happens you can enforce peace on england to join them and get an alliance

if they don't rival castile restart

get jihading

It was my first game be gentle pls.
Started as Flanders.

Really not that bad actually, but you should have been bolder and gone to war with Spain for colonial concessions + invaded some part of Africa. Gotta clean up those borders.

From a multiplayer mega-campaign.
Highlights include :
Neo-Egyptian Empire that rules all of Africa + Arabia
The Byzantine Caliphate with Byzantine Siberia
Dutch Holy Roman Empire
Baltic Papal States
Knights Hospitaller of West Italy
Orthodox Denmark
Tengri Nomadic Prussia
Super-developed Czech empire
Hyper-colonist Spain

The reformation just hit and the HRE and Czechs converted to Protestantism. Ming and Japan just reached the New World but were quickly expelled by a joint Spanish-native war. The Czechs and Danes bicker and fight incessantly. The Umbrians of East Italy seek to curtail the Byzantines rapid expansion into Russia. And all of Europe is conspiring to fight a huge crusade to divide up Africa from the Egyptians.

>Wampanoag

What the fuck?

Danish-Americans, I like it

Custom Native-American empire from a player that joined when we started EUIV. Recently Westernized and shot up to no.6 great power.
Currently my ally against other European (and now Asian) powers seeking to colonize the New World. However I intend on forming the United States so our alliance will likely not last.

The Danish actually own Canada (unfortunately exact same colour as Wampanoag), they aren't doing so hot in this game.

Okay so first war with Castile, not going as badly as I thought. They are the only ones in the war and Morocco is my ally, so we barely have the numerical advantage. Morocco is being a little bitch though and won't bring his troops over even though we miraculously got control of the strait.

it's easier to let them cross and fight on Fez if you can, same penalty and Morocco almost always defends it no matter how many troops they bring

...

stay mad whitebois

I actually was pretty relentless against them early game, because they got Burgundian Holland and Brabant. I'd already gained independence before then. Taking too many Dutch provinces at once got me (pathetic) coalitions, so I decided to take St Helena and later some Canadian colonies to gain more access to the new world.
The yellow you see in the north is actually what's left of Scotland.
Repeated wars with me, France and Aragon made Castille tiny and I decided to leave them alone out of pity.
I'd managed to cuck the Brits out of all their colonies in the Americas and Australia.
I wanted to kinda play nice which is why there's a lot of native nations left. I only attacked people who colonised my rightful clay (Castille deserved a break by the time they reached Australia).
I also wanted to play safe because I was scared shitless so I stayed buddies with Portugal, France (both got my dynasty) and Denmark (kept Sweden). So we just kinda divided the colonial world.
I surpressed revolution in France but they got Castille after which I allied them, I'd long eclipsed them anyway. Their colonies actually got them on their feet again.
Especially loved stopping Russia from taking over Scandinavia with all Flemish infantry and later cucking them out of Eastern Siberia.
I'd used Bohemia to shrink Austria drastically (and reduce Prussia to a opm) but somehow Austria got like a powerboost around 1800. Venetia switched hands like 5 times between Austria and Venice.

All in all rather satisfied with the result. United all Flemish, Dutch, Westphalians, Rhenish, Walloons, Bretons and Moluccans under 1 banner. Dark green between me and Switzerland is Swabian march. Green near Britain is other march, Fife (I like Gloryhammer).
Shame about last idea group and incomplete tech though.

Sorry for blogposting I got excited.

bump

MUHAMMAD IS RISEN INSHALLAH

bummp

I should do another HRE game one of these days with all the new patches making it easier to blob towards the end, but it's such a fucking pain in the ass.

Biggest I ever got in terms of manpower/army size/income, but this is before that huge nerf to manpower.

Looks like Brexit happened after all

I've been playing M&T 2.0 recently and not the main game since the recent DLC came out. How is this new stuff?
