No idea.

I hope someone answers.

>2d

art direction looks like booty cheeks same with sss remake.

Locking modes behind Amiibos, for starters. The art direction was also a major turn-off, at least for me. Other than those two, I don't know what else. I'm still rather pumped for it, though, been jonesing for a new 2D metroid, even if a remake, and who knows? Maybe the hard mode and such will be released in time as updates or they may just ditch the amiibo idea ent- hahahahahah...

It's the new thing by the popular people user.

>universally panned
daily reminder that underage contrarian summerfags are not real metroid fans and should be saged

Sup Forums

Becauase it looks like junk. It's not rocket surgery, asshole.

Sup Forums went down the shitter

It's the disconnect between Sup Forums wanting a rehash of 20 year old games and Nintendo wanting to do something different these days.

>Universally panned on Sup Forums before the game is even out
Are you new here, my man? This happens with every Nintendo game.

People have had literally nothing but positive things to say about this game. Who should i beleive, AC fag, or people whove played the game?

Wrong on both accounts, both are superior to the original.

It's at least fortunate that you can get a hard mode without amiibos.

What do you expect? It looks bad. People won't accept a bad looking game just because it's the first one in a long time. Sadly, Nintendo has a very vocal part of their fanbase that defends everything they do.

What looks bad about it?

Nothing went wrong, there's already a better remake of 2 out there for free.

>MercurySteam involvement
>Melee counter that adds to slow down the flow of the game and further trivialize combat
>360 aiming also seems to slow down and trivialize combat
>2.5D art direction genuinely looks awful
>Aeon abilities are given way too early and do too much

Maybe in a couple years all the models from samus returns will be ripped from the game so somebody can take credit for a game that is mostly stolen assets

>got special edition on preorder
>have an amiibo spoofer so i can unlock all the bonus content without buying amiibos

You can post all the TF2 and Spongebob images you want I don't give a shit I'm gonna have fun and you can't stop me

Sup Forums isn't as hard on the game as it appears, because there's a vocal minority that makes threads to stir up shit around it almost every day. ACfag is the obvious one, and there's at least one more.

And don't take that as me claiming all the negativity is those people. I know the game doesn't look like some people's cup of tea because of the low-res graphics and the non-2D art style. I'm just saying that most of the venom isn't coming from them, but rather a few who are obsessed with their own irrational preconceived notions of what the game is going to be like.

>Who should i beleive, AC fag, or people whove played the game?
This is how I feel as well.

>>Universally panned on Sup Forums before the game is even out
You mean just like Federation Force and Hey! Pikmin, two good games that Sup Forums will never ever play but will still screech about until the end of time?

Sup Forums is full of whiners who shit on things they haven't even played. Who knew?

So is anyone hyped for post-game content? I would love to see something tie in Ceres Colony, maybe with a post-game superboss like Genesis from AM2R.

To quote 387103480. have they honestly confirmed a postgame story?

Sakamoto hinted at expanding on the relationship between Samus and the abby metroid.

Game will end with you replaying through Super's opening and then tease a remake of Super.
Screen cap this.

Fuck off Cody

What I want more than anything is after you beat the main story you get access to other episodic, shorter campaigns. Like individual bounty missions or merc stuff. You have the story of Metroid 2, and then after you have something like a Cowboy Bebop episode.

It had the gall to be made by Nintendo is what went wrong.

What fucking relationship? She puts it in a tube and hands it over to scientists for experimentation. Without remorse or hesitation. Even if she developed some sense of attachment it would obviously be after Super anyway.

>Universally panned on Sup Forums before the game is even out
Like every game?

People need to complain about something. I think it looks fine, enough to tide me over until Prime 4 at least.

>universally panned on Sup Forums

Speak for yourself. I'm excited but I'm also pirating it, so my opinion doesn't matter.

>tfw burgerland
Fucking NoA. That European special edition looks awesome; I wish I could get it.

whoever made this is way more of an autist than cody

Oh. So it's gonna be post game LORE. That's just dandy.

>as I handed the baby metroid over to be scientifically experimented on and possibly dissected, I was reminded of daddy adam who told me that I'm only allowed to go to the bathroom in the toilet because I have emotional problems and need medical assistance in day to day activities. Boy do I love being a mother, did I mention I'm a mother figure?

"10/10 emotional rollercoaster"-IGN

I too am a burger and all I am getting is a shitty soundtrack CD that has a bunch of music on it that I already possess.

But I do not care.

I'm hoping just some hint that the Pirates were tracing her. Like a retroactive guilt trip in Super when it clicks that she led them right to Ceres or something.

>Caring about how Sup Forums views a game at all

I stopped caring when everyone shat themselves over Deus Ex HR's leak pretending they didn't say it was going to be shit.

If you decide your purchases based on what's Flavor of the Month here it just proves how much of a spineless bitch you are in reality. Find your own preferences and stick to them, nobody actually gives a fuck what you play.

I know it's a dumb detail, and probably nobody else will care, but I want to see some recreations from the opening scene of Super Metroid.

Samus shaking that guy's hand, everyone huddled around the sciencey tube thing (and the space pirates frothing angry that humans have developed tube techology to compete against theirs) and maybe even a large showcase of the Ceres Colony itself. I don't know about you, but the thought of an HD image of a giant metal flying donut in space sounds pretty cool.

Furthermore, the implications are even funnier when you remember Other M's "bottle ship".

>it's shaped like a bottle because the baby metroid symbolism
>Ceres is shaped like a donut because it's actually a bakery with some science stuff onboard

>360 aiming also seems to slow down and trivialize combat

This is Metroid, the game series where you dash through enemies with speed boost's and super charged somersaults. Combat was hardly ever challenging except for boss battles and those were primarily damage sponges.

But I don't expect a Spongebob Nick Kiddie to understand that you can't wear rose-tinted glasses your whole life.

>2D
>shitty 3d graphics

What the fuck is this meme? If the game is 2d, it should use 2d art or a style like Guilty Gear uses. I don't care if it's fucking cheaper to do 3d, it's so much more aesthetically pleasing.

With all of the other issues in this game, if the art and music were as godlike as the previous 2d games, that alone would have been enough. But the garbage aesthetics on top of incredibly questionable gameplay choices, I ain't buying shit as big of a Metroidfag as I may be.

I'm just about ready to give up on video games.

I have a feeling that they will do a Super Metroid Remake down the line. Even Federation Force made Reference to it's intro in the post-credits.

You can't possibly screw up Super Metroid, right? Metroid 2's remake is a bit controversial to some people, but Super is pretty much a license to print money. Maybe not ALOT of money, but a good amount nonetheless.

Sup Forums hates everything

the sooner you understand this, the easier it will be

I never understood the point of a fucking remake. Super Metroid is fantastic because it's Super Metroid, why change it? Why not just make a new goddamn game?

Remastered and/or remixed music, improved visuals (assuming sprites), and crispier gameplay, as well as the possibility for new content.

"but it's fine as it is" then play the original

I wouldn't want it because Nintendo could only fuck it up. Super is already perfect. The only direction for that game to go with a remake is down.

I can imagine a few things they could improve, but I guess it wouldn't warrant the risk of screwing everything else up.

>"but it's fine as it is" then play the original

No shit, but it's wasted effort that could be used on a NEW experience.

>new content
You mean like, A NEW GAME?

You bring up a good point. A perfect example of this is the Crash Bandicoot N Sane trilogy. Yeah, it's nice seeing the old gang back again, but if they can accurately emulate what made those games good (to a certain degree) then why not make a new game in that vein? Twinsanity wasn't really that bad, and from the remade trilogy they seemed to have learned their lesson from Crash of the Titans and Mind Over Mutant. Rehashing the past just feels like they're out of ideas.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but what kind of answer did you expect when asking why something would be remade?

Fucking this.

It's made by MercurySteam, the team behind the godawful Castlevania 3DS game. The game is going to be shit and I have no idea how anybody could be excited about this after MercurySteam's name was dropped on the livestream at E3 this year.

Bingo.

Remaking an existing game is a good way to port the mechanics of a game to a new console. You can pour time and money into the game engine instead of level design and a lot of other dev work that comes with a completely new title. It also gauges interest in the franchise for the current generation before they pour time into a new installment.

I'm not a fan of 2.5D, I think the melee counter goes against the spirit of Metroid, and I'm not a fan of a game mode being locked behind a toy.
Still looking forward to it. We'll see how it turns out.

Remake the original trilogy to see if Crash is still or can become popular again. And since the remastered trilogy sold like hotcakes and was universally praised they can make a new game without worry. It also helps bring in a new generation of fans to support the series.

This game might as well be anew game with how much it changes compared to the orignal metroid 2

and let's not forget this gem

>watching epic meme show about weed

lmao 420

Not him but I wouldn't worry too much about that, Metroid Dread is next. Sakamoto already hinted at it twice this year and Samus Returns has hints to it. The fact that Sakamoto and EPD are working with MercurySteam on this is a way to prepare MercurySteam for Metroid Dread on the 3DS. Fusion had the problem of missing things previous Metroid games had and was restricted:
>fucked up bomb jumping
>no one wall jumping
>no full exploration until the end of the game
>have to mostly collect all of Samus's upgrades in order
>players are given the map and told where to go
I'm guessing Sakamoto didn't want to run into these problems again and wanted MercurySteam to have experience with a classic Metroid game.

>72

Pretty good desu considering castlevania is a shit series and konami is awful and not even they know what to do with the series. I expect samus returns to be in the 80s

it's SHIT

Fusion has the best Shinespark sequence in the series though.
youtube.com/watch?v=VI8FksvRyaM

As for Dread, I know I'm probably just dreaming, but I'd love for it to be 2D and on Switch.

>Play Hollow Knight
>The world is larger than any Metroid before it.
>The combat more exciting than any 2D Metroid.
>The movement is more fluid than even Zero Mission.
>All the collectables are varied, and feel significant to your character's growth. Not just the 30th missile expansion you'll never use.
>Music and sound design is on par.
>Developed by essentially 2 people.
And then the I began to doubt if Nintendo can create something as good.

It's most likely going to be either a 3DS game or a game for the 3DS's successor, but I can see it coming to the 3DS.

I suppose you have a point.

Posting map.

>play hollow knight
>get bored 2 hours in

I guess the fantasy setting just bores me

Some people like a new spin on a classic. Granted this whole "new story by new writers thing" that's been going on in remasters does more harm than good. But I think there's a sweet spot in stuff like REmake where the basic story is the same but they fuck with you like when a Zombie suddenly pops up and goes Sanic fast.

Ok shill no one cares fuck off now.

They banned AM2R.

>They banned a game that anyone with a computer can download for free

You do know AM2R was completed, released, and is never going away, right? And other people ahve been updating it. Nintendo didn't "stop" anything.

That's just what Nintendo wants you to think. It's still out there, still being updated, and even has some cool new doodads. I'd recommend giving it a try if you find it.

Sup Forums hates video games

there is no game mode locked behind amiibos it's just a poorly made costume

Posting the actual map. Not the simplified version for babbies.

>OP makes a topic soliciting opinions.
>Give my opinion
>Some butthurt user claims no one cares, when clearly someone cared.

>Universally panned on Sup Forums
Literally the only complaint is Amiibos, you idiot. And everyone always complains about Amiibos.

That's really not that much bigger than Super or even Fusion. It's just not divided up into sectors seperated by elevators like those games.

MercurySteam's past track record is far from great but the gameplay videos looks good and the people who've already played it all seem to like it so I'm cautiously optimistic.

>what the actual fuck went wrong?
Sup Forums

It's not as good as Armored Core, so that means it's shit.

I didnt see op asking for damn shills. Fuck off that game sucks.

I have faith that it'll be good. There's nothing that I've see in gameplay videos that I dislike. The constant positives impressions also help distill worry

Everything that Sakamoto has made that's not Metroid Will be better than this Trash

Screencap me

Hollow Knight's great though, it took the phenomenal world map design of Super Metroid with the combat from older Castlevanias and a few elements from the Souls games to make a really great experience.

got the true ending for hollow knight.

Do not buy this game. I barely enjoyed it the whole way through. I am a long time player of castlevania and metroid games. This shit is so uninspired, so dull that the actual gameplay is a complete slog to play through. The game is piss easy and I never lost geo and even the last boss Radiance is easy as fuck.

The story is a straight up rip from dark souls.

>lol the king held the void at bay by using a hollow knight to absorb the light
>lol you are the chosen und-er hollow knight and for the true ending must seal the light away and break the cycle

What else can I say really? The art style is awful.

Do you like Symphony of the Night? Well this is that game instead of the awesome sprite artwork you are alucard if he was made by a tumblr artist. The entire game I was wondering why everyone was shilling this game and this is my theory.

It's the undertale retards who never played a vania game before so this is their first step in the genre so it's SOOOO unique because its "underrated", except the actual combat is floaty garbage and you never feel satisfied killing enemies.

This game is cancer and if you like this game. Kill yourself. You are a worthless mongoloid who enjoys half baked indie games with recycled ideas from Miyazaki. It's boring. Fuck you.

>a few elements from the Souls games
But I thought you said the game was good?

Have a (You) on the house friend.

When Nu-troid: Fagus Shitburns flops, the fanboi tears will sustain me for weeks, maybe even months. I shall descend upon this board like a wolf upon a lamb, and bask in the unending impotent rage that this board will pump out. I will gaze upon the suicide threads and rage posts, and I don't think my penis will ever be harder than it will as a million Nu-troid apologists cry out in itty bitty white boi penis fury simultaneously.

They'll try to convince themselves it was a rigged. They'll try to convince themselves that Sony had pulled a fast one on them.

"We will boycott!" They will say. "Console war!" "Day of the crash!" they will cry.

Time will pass, and they will do nothing because all they can do is talk. They are too cowardly and weak to do anything

But none of that will balm the pain of knowing that their God Developer, their favorite franchise, will go down in history as an amusing foot note, an embarrassment, as the loud obnoxious DLCfest who lost to the AM2Rdev's first commercial gane, a Dev who the entire nation thought was a literal criminal but still preferred to Nu-troid.

I need to fap.

Does the combat ever exceed using a fucking nail and just jumping and pressing one button?

>don't buy this game because i didn't like it

what

>symphony of the night
for shitters who couldn't handle rondo

Oh I remember this pasta alright

>implying anything has to be wrong with a game for Sup Forums to pan it

Does Metroid combat ever exceed jumping and shooting using one button?
