You have 10 seconds to name a better RPG than Might & Magic 7. Go on, I'll be waiting

You have 10 seconds to name a better RPG than Might & Magic 7. Go on, I'll be waiting.

All of these games have been rendered irrelevant with the arrival of Grimoire. Don't bother with your relics.

Grimoire is here, user. You don't need to waste your time with decades old games anymore.

Gothic 1

this

Morrowind.

>t. turboautistic retard of a developer with 1000 different artstyles clashing in a buggy, confusing mess of a """"game""""

Fine, be a sape.

Daggerfall

Might and Magic 6 was better
>way bigger dungeons
>bigger map
>non retarded character building where skills and spells aren't arbitrarily restricted
>nonlinear MQ structure
>less elemental resistances so something other than shrapmetal is worth using
Still a good game though just a step down from 6.

>muh sape

How about you troglodytes actually explain why you think Grimoire is good?

Might & Magic 6

the fuck's a sape?

A japanese type of underwear

>not playing Superior nippon etrian Odyssey dungeon crawler
Dumb oldfags

Lands of lore 3 will always have a spot in my heart, its amazing how vast and full of secrets most of the levels were
Never actually met anyone that played it

Fuck off Sseth

>tfw that game destroyed your ass as a kid
>tfw you spent 6 months in the tutorial island
>tfw you can now beat it using only one character

FRIENDLY REMINDER

The small minority of prolific samefags that support the game blindly should be ridiculed or avoided. Their posts are redundant and easy to spot often including:

>Sape (negative)
>Thal (positive)
>Incline
>Blobber
>The spelling "Grimwah"
>Pressure to purchase Grimoire
>Contempt for the pirating of Grimoire
>Claims that uploaded copies of Grimoire contain viruses, bitcoin miners, keyloggers
>Insults and slurs intended to bait someone named Andrew
>Labeling of the game's art style as competent to gorgeous
>Labeling of the game's detractors as "Goons" or "Weebs"
>Stale memes
>a heavy reliance on buzzwards
>Idolatry involving Cleveland Blakemore
>Prejudices within the genre based on game region
>Grandstanding
>Elitism
>Rabid belligerence
>Ignorance regarding good game design
>Ignorance regarding good writing
>Ignorance regarding color theory
>Ignorance regarding math and the interactivity of simple systems

Poor reasoning and argumentative skills are also characteristic. When faced with logic they'll adopt a veteran gamer stance and insist their opponent is better suited playing games generally regarded as casual, i.e. "Go back to Skyrim, kid." Or the new favorite, "You haven't even played Wizardry."

Bottom of the barrel shitposts from rookie anglers.

Because it looks like dog vomit, absolutely worst aged early 3D along with Space Hulk Vengeance and that Flashback sequel nobody wants to remember.

I have a superior neanderthal brain

Dragon Age Origins

The fact that so many people still name the Might & Magic 7 as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" RPG ever only tells you how far video games still are from becoming a serious art.

I like Might and Magic 8 more. Feels ok to be a pleb. Should finish 6 someday though.

mm6 obivously, you pleb

I'm still playing three though. But I did try 6 for a second and wandered out of town and goblins wiped my ass and didn't even wait their turn. Fuck that, my man. If 7 doesn't have turn-based combat either then you can have those games. Leave me Isles of Terra and Xeen plz.

What is the Beatles of video games?

ID Software

>no turn-based combat
Ever tried to read the manual?

Fuck off Andrew

Mandate Heaven is best M&M, not sure if that was 7 but anyway y

Not yet. There was no need since I was just sampling it before playing the other entries. I wouldn't play it without cultivating standards to judge it's progression against. I read space or something activates turns but I found out later and have not verified for myself. Still mad about them goblins...

God damn you're retarded. Bet you couldn't even figure out how to talk to Corak in MM3 if you can't figure out how to enter TB mode in MM6.

it's 6

Certainly one of the greatest of all time. I think 7 is slightly better than 6 when compared side by side. People didn't like 7 that much because it was a disappointment in the sense that it didn't bring anything new to the table and at that time you expect each iteration to improve a series not ruin it. It's certainly a fantastic game.

Enjoy hell, sinner.

Wiz 7

M&M character portraits would've been a fantastic early years Sup Forums meme.

Wiz 8

I've spent the last 2 hours trying to find a dungeon crawler that has a really in-depth skill system.

Forget for a moment that the Wizardry,M&M and Grimoire exist. What else is there? I'm looking for something that rewards me for building a party that's well prepared but everything I find just has no-brainer character creation, like making a thief with high lockpicking or a wizard with high identifying skills.

The Exile games from Spiderweb are more what I'm after, you have a bunch of skills that can help you on your journey or you can invest more heavily into your combat skills but it's a serious balancing act to cover all bases.

tl;dr: I just want a party-based dungeon crawler that rewards me for developing my characters a certain way, rather than the game playing exactly the same no matter what.

early years Sup Forums memes were cringy though

No such game exists.

>Sup Forums is too anti-japanese to discuss japanese dungeon crawlers

>Download Etrian Odyssey 4 demo for 3ds
>It's fun
>But the characters all look 5 years old and way too anime-y (moeshit or edgyshit) for me.

Look, I get it. Japan has a specific style but it was just too much for me. Can't we get a somewhat more grounded artstyle?

But Strange Journey was great user.

Not everyone is a pedophile like you.

proving grounds of the mad overlord

How in the fuck do I play this on a modern PC? Resolution is abysmal, no mouselook or strafing.

Wizardry 8. Honestly Wiz6-8 are all better, I don't like M&M7 much.

...

>Heroes of Might and Magic is the same as Might and Magic

ok

To be honest they're all shit. The biggest problem I have is that the story doesn't even try to suck you in, it all reads like a filler episode from an anime, same goes for the puzzles they're all horrible easy.

As a general rule Japanese dungeon crawlers have puzzles and lore to facilitate their combat, western ones have combat to facilitate the puzzles and lore.

...

What is the blobber with the best puzzles? I mean really fulfilling shit, not just regurgitating a keyword you heard 20 hours ago or using an item you found in the same dungeon.

Something that makes you bust out an actual piece of paper or can only be answered if you pay attention as you explore.

Might and Magic 6 had more problems with balance like protection from magic, spear/sword dualwielding and shrapmetal.

Bet you don't like being straight much either, faggot

World of Xeen's Dungeon of the Dead's first floor

Grimrock series

Eh, Grimrock 1 maybe. Grimrock 2 had far better puzzles.

Am I the only one who fucking hates the final boss for Grimrock 1? I mean seriously, a fucking giant cube that just sort of rolls after you hoping to crush you and that's it? Come on.

M&M 6,7,8,10 are all great games.

But pic related is the best.

You liked 10, the game where you play with essentially a pre-made party?

I never understood the massive hate MMX gets.
It wasn't amazing but it was good enough and much better than it had any right to be.

ubisoft
no budget
no name mobile devs
ubisoft
kickstarter
early access
ubisoft

And despite all that it wasn't horrible, for me it was a big surprise how decent the game was despite all that.

I didn't hate it like I thought I was going to. I found it entertaining enough to play to completion, which I rarely seem to do these days. It wasn't up to par with 6-8 but it certainly wasn't bad.

It's just so watered down that it barely registers as an entry in the genre, it may well exceed expectations but I could never recommend it to anyone unless they had seriously played everything else.

>I never understood the massive hate MMX gets.
It looks like an MM game and sounds like an MM game

But it's not an MM game

It's a blobber alright and maybe even a decent one
But it's painfully linear, it misses the mark with nostalgia pandering (spoilers: nobody played these games for tile based movement you dipshits) and game balance and writing are also pretty bad.

Ubisoft doesn't understand Might and Magic. Period.

GRIMWAH

There is absolutely no fucking way his game is worth 40€.

>600h!
>first guy to beat it takes 85 hours

Epic.

No fucking around, actually Grimoire.

Also, MM3-5, Wiz 6-8, Lands Of Lore, Betrayal At Krondor, Dark Sun, Deus Ex, BG2, Fallout 1, Gothic 2, and Dungeon Masters.

No, it's not that we don't want to discuss them. It's just that all the people here only like the shittiest of shit ones and are only aware of them at all because they were on nintendo handhelds.

>first guy to beat it takes 85 hours
but the shitposters told me the game was unfinished!

...

The only 3D dungeon crawler that didn't bore me to death

might & magic is baby-tier dungeon crawler, sorry but it's true and you know it

My nigger. I reinstalled MM7-8 just to play it.

World of Xeen
Might and Magic 3
Baldur's Gate
Fallout 1 - 2
Age of Empires
Starcraft
Rome: Total War
etc etc etc

There are so many games better than M&M 7.

>people actually rank other Might and Magics over 7

Christ Sup Forums, why. 6 is good but you cant even auto run in that shit.

How are Age of Empires, Starcraft or Rome: Total War RPGs

Thanks for showing off your reading comprehension user. This is also why you like might and magic 3

I was just listing older PC era games that were better than M&M 7 but there are shitloads of RPGs better than that game. Might and Magic 7 is barely even a good RPG much less one of the best ever made.

non-smt japanese crawlers are fucking awful
i tried to get into every single iteration of etrian odyssey but always dropped them within 10 hours because of how hilariously mechanically primitive they are

Cry more, faggot. Might and Magic 7 is shit.

Dude the game is so incomplete it's not funny, you(and I) paid for early access. In case you weren't aware:

>Many attributes don't work, or barely scale
>Metallurgy isn't programmed yet
>Advanced jobs don't give skills
>You finish the game at roughly level 12, you can only change class at level 10.
>Cleve says the map is only half done right now
>cites 600 hours, actually less than 100
>the game balance is fucked, you cannot progress without abusing lethal blow\sleep\freeze and yet if you use those things the game is laughably easy,
>Age and food system isn't programmed
>Dynamic NPC reactions isn't programmed
>Classes have skill multipliers, so no interesting character building allowed

Finally as a small sidenote, Cleve is incompetent. Took 20 years to pump this out, breaks savegames multiple times, still has no manual released, DRM coming that will assuredly fuck over only legit customers.

The only hope is that Cleve realises he's useless and releases the source code so every can fix his mess. He does have a very nice foundation to work from.

Lower class of human, think homosapian.

retard

>Getting ass-rattled because user doesn't like your game

>The Exile games from Spiderweb are more what I'm after, you have a bunch of skills that can help you on your journey or you can invest more heavily into your combat skills but it's a serious balancing act to cover all bases.

You need to play the Geneforge saga.

>mechanically primitive
???

Oh, I have man. I've even played Nethergate as boring as it was. I tried getting into their new entries Avadon but didn't enjoy it as much, I really haven't found any world that I've felt more comfortable exploring, or party that I've felt more accomplished at progressing. Wizardry 8 comes really close though, but there are no games out there like that either.

>muh fallout
Those games are nothing but nostalgia bait, the setting was original back then but literally everything else from combat to quest design is absolute fucking trash and a joke when compared to more classic rpgs.

>smell my finger

Nah shrapmetal was far more effective in MM7 because later enemies had resistance to every element but dark magic. MM6 had more dev time and it shows.

It's a general for both dumbass.

Greyface patch exists. Either way 7 has tiny linear dungeons which is the biggest sin you could ever make for a M&M game.

>rpg supposedly have dozens of good custom modules
>people always mention the same 3 or 4
Am I being memed?

Wizardry 8

Yes, but we really should get a continuation of adwr ;____;

Most of the modules are lost in time on websites that are down, so it's pretty hard to catch any of the non-popular ones.

Isn't there an ending already? Also I wish I could enjoy those modules but I fucking hate the gameplay

RuneScape

Sounds like bullshit
>I swear it's great, it's just that the good one were lost and only the bad were saved
