I have to say the game gets alot more interesting after the crowl/horror part, opens up alot with something like 10 different areas immediately accesible and it's all more high fantasy compared to the previous somewhat depressive region. The gold entity thing is just retarded though, fucking autists cannot into immersion at all.
Grimoire
ded game?
literally the dedest
What version are you playing? Gimme gimme.
Still no manual and Cleve recently said himself that he never balanced the game at all. I told you nerds at the start and you all said he's been finely tuning the balance for 20 years, if you paid for this game and didn't chargeback you're an idiot, there's no excuse.
I am unironically enjoying it but yeah, 90% of the population would not. Get a proper inventory system, remove the stupid instakill/rust mobs from the early game, overhaul the character and party creation UI and overhaul the attribute system. And basic shit like tooltips and not hiding different starting areas in the fucking options menu and similar nonsense. There's is so much that could have easily been fixed to make the game massively more accessible without compromising any of the OLD SKOOL mechanics and gameplay.

Cleve needs to finish up with the non gameplay related bugfixes already.
I haven't seen a game drop this quickly ever before. There used to be a 400 reply thread every day after release, now completely dead. Did anyone even finish it?
I'm pretty sure everyone just came for the 20 year meme.
>tfw newfag
So what game should I unironically play if I want a dungeon crawler?
I'm more of a fan of the weeb clones, I'm afraid, stuff like Etrian Odyssye and Stranger of Sword City. I have never really tried the Western DRPGs, I really should get around to playing Wizardry sometime.
Too many fucking bugs and problems to hold interest. The previous updates came out regularly and fixed/added features. Now the updates are just purely bugfixes. Gameplay isn't getting worked on at all and Progression and Balance is bonked.
I'll pick it up again when I have the money to buy it and keep up with the updates. It's a good game that is all about creative and interesting scenario design and level design, something you can't get from AAA and nip devs.
>Etrian Odyssye
what are you guys even finding in this series
exploration is so fucking boring because there's barely any level design to speak of, resource gathering and farm parties are a chore, combat system is nothing to write home about aside from maybe ailment/bind system which is not really that original too and way too rng-based even with a dedicated debuff/ailment build
The thing I'm most afraid about Nipp wizardry clones is that attributes don't do shit. Japanese RPGs have a bad habit of being rigid and braindead when it comes to the game mechanics. Being able to do fun stuff like making impregnable tank builds or glass cannon builds seems like something they'd never allow simply because Nipps lack imagination.
Somebody on codex has finished it in about 80 hours. It was after that I think those threads suddenly died.
M&M games, Wizardry, Elminage series, Stranger of Sword City, Operation Babel series. If you can stand old games gog has collections of them called Forgotten Realms archives.
Also if you have console like Vita or 3DS, or you can emulate there are tons of different Japanese crawlers for them, but almost none get translated. But some could be playable with guide/wiki and some machine translation.
>resource gathering and farm parties are a chore
Why do you need all those resources? Untold 2 is the only EO game where you actually have things to spend lots of gold on.
>Being able to do fun stuff like making impregnable tank builds or glass cannon builds seems like something they'd never allow simply because Nipps lack imagination
But that was one of the biggest gamebreakers in Etrian Odyssey 1 before they nerfed them in the sequels and remake.
Forgot your picture fag
>Being able to do fun stuff like making impregnable tank builds or glass cannon builds seems like something they'd never allow simply because Nipps lack imagination.
They actually do, for example Elminage has Miko class which is capable of equipping special charm weapons. Once she gets certain skill, she can now equip those in armour slots too - so you can make literal glass gatling cannon who will attack 80 or more times at turn, but will have no protection at all. It also has summoner class, which is capable of capturing enemies and summoning them in battle like in pokemons. You can capture even unique bosses with crazy stats.
As for attributes, they work a little mysteriously - it is known what each attribute does, but not exactly how much increasing by one point does. It seems that getting certain numbers give large increase in power, and it seems that it works like that in many Japanese crawlers.
Agreed. Greatest blobber of all time? 20+ yrs in development? Talented programmer? He was not even able to use steam_api.dll in his game.. how inept is that?
Over 1000 copies have been refunded =X
Cleve keeps mentioning v2.
Flip of a coin if he commits to finishing it. Probably be dead before it's done.
IndieGoGo 2013 -> STEAM 2017 -> v2 2075 AD?
GOG have got loads of classics that are finished:
Wizardry 6/7/8
Dark Sun
ToEE (with Temple+)
etc, etc, etc...
I don't think he really cares if anyone buys it or not. Hobby project to him. Customers are his playthings.
Who cares about steam_api.dll?; it's completely inadequate as protection.
>Rng based
Not if you have a good time cocksucker
Team i mean.
Is PSP elminage a good place to start with ? I also have the pc one. How long are they basically ?
I fixed the friggin annoying coin sound in PC Elminage you hear every time you switch the menus and nobody was interested in having it...
Stopped giving a shit about this game once it was obvious that the fanbase was garbage, the dev was incompetent, and the game couldn't live up to the hype.
I've never seen a game drop off this fast in my life.
>Elminage
Shieet. I remember wanting to try that one out. Is it possible to make tanky builds as well? I think I remember them releasing on steam as well.
>I just have not tightened this up yet
YOU HAD 23 YEARS
PSP one (Original) is first one, PC one (Gothic) is fourth in series. They also are only that are translated, so I would start with Original and then Gothic. Originial is rather a little simpler and basic, and also easier. PC/PSP version of Gothic is actually a strange one in series, they removed some things which were in previous versions and were added back in 3DS remix of Gothic. As for length, it depends, if you want to explore everything it will be long, especially post game dungeons in Gothic can be really brutal. But they should definitely took tens of hours.
For those, who have sensitive ears and are hurt by inane audio in games, like the loud whistling sound every time a turn ends in DOS Realms of Arkania 1-3:
PC Elminage Gothic Marvellous
"Coin-Machine Sound" Fix. Replace this file with the original in your install folder and enjoy and absence of that (before this) Über annoying sound:

Tanky builds could be hard, but not impossible I think. With some correct items and alchemy it should be possible to get immunity to some status effects and elements. Lord (paladin) has aura skill which decreases enemies chance to afflict status effects. It was 90% decrease in Original and I think 75% in Gothic. Samurai has counterattack passive skill in which he completely evades enemy attack and strikes at enemy. It has quite high chance when maxed, but it is maxed really late, when you your level somewhere near 300 I think, and it would be maxed in late postgame.
This what normal developers do beta testing for. If Cleve wouldn't be autistic egomaniac faggot he would give his indiegogo backers or someone else beta builds or some type of early access, and all those release bugs and balance problems would be taken care of possibly years ago. Game could be released earlier. But he doesn't seems to really care, which is why you shouldn't give him your money.
>he doesn't seems to really care, which is why you shouldn't give him your money.
This!
Say what you will about EA or Activision or Ubisoft but at least their games can generally be completed at launch, even if it's generally an underwhelming ride to the finish.
There's no reason for Cleve's game to have this many issues at launch based on both the amount of time he spent developing it and the amount of experience he has with programming.
my fighter has a bunch of conditions like, blindness, disease, insanity, irritation, and paralysis
nothing seems to work to cure him, so i think i need to kill him and then revive him
this has to be a bug, is one of the conditions making it so the others are not possible to remove?
FRIENDLY REMINDER
kill yourself fag
Ps4 port whrn?
Disease introduces and worsens additional conditions the longer you let it linger. You need to cure the disease first and only then will the other conditions that go along with it start going away. You need a Cure Disease spell (clerics learn this at level 4, I think) a healing pool (like in the lower level of Shrine of the Raptor or in the Lich's room in the Cenotaph), a Galen Apple (found in bushes) or leeches (found in shallow water). The two lattermost items can only be used before the character is paralyzed by the disease so you need to use them quickly.
After Temple OS version.
Shit dead game. No one cares anymore, Cleve. Your meme status has been revoked.
>13 days later
>Dead game
Man, even Battleborn lasted longer than this.
The best thing about this game is that it got me back into Grimrock and now I want to try other, proper dungeon crawlers.
Grimrock is such a tedious and dull slog compared to Grimoire, it doesn't surprise me that its devs have given up and resorted to using procedurally generated levels for their next game, they might as well have been doing that from the start
Cure paralysis White powder in a transparent glass bottle. Use it with any party member, you get the question: Use it On Who? Use it on your paralyzed fighter.
How to get it:
1. Use Zep's "Decline" save editor to gain access to the Owl Statue, code 572, enter that number to your fighter's quiver slot. Save in editor. Go to game-->load that save. Use the Owl Statue to gain entry to prev. unaccessible area in the dungeon--> step into the cleaning pool with the 2 colored stars hovering above and chime sound. Get Cure Paralysis bottle from chest.
2. Crack a lock on a chest, but don't open it.
Save. Open the chest and reload your save until you get the Cure Paralysis bottle.
Nice try shill.
Heads up, lots of people were saying that Raise Dead is better than Resurrect because Resurrect causes you to lose 10 CON.
This is wrong. ALL resurrection effects cause 10 CON loss, including Raise Dead.
What do I do at Hobknobs altar? I think I read somewhere I have to drink some poison but I can't find it again
Get the ?ILL GERBIL? from the well nearby. Put it in the altar. Then use the Bane of Hobknob on the altar.
The ill gerbil/rat is from an urn in the crowl catacombs and the hob ankh is from the well close to the altar. Use both there but save before.
Oh man, why didnt I think to use the dead gerbil? Thanks user
I don't even care that it's not accessible. Stats doing nothing is actually unforgivable and has nothing to do with accessibility.
Is it possible to get this pulled off Steam on the grounds of false advertising? If you gather up all his dev posts and massive unplayable bugs it's clear this is Early Access, but was put forward as a fully finished game. It was even at a point for a few days where you would buy it and instantly not be able to play it.
How are there no ramifications for this? Can I release a game tomorrow and say it has x, y and is the industry leader in b & c, and then when you open it it's just a calculator.
is the Might of Magic 6 Pack any good? Gonna pirate it from GOG (I mean it's already abandonware so I don't give a shit morally). Should I play through all of them or just start with Isles of Terra? Is World of Xeen in this or do I have to play Clouds and Darkside of Xeen separately?
If you play the series at all I recommend playing World of Xeen first and then probably 6\7.
That being said while these are cool games, mechanically they are incredibly straight forward there's no real builds you make other than your initial class choice. The world and puzzles are all solid though, so it depends what kind of games you're after.
As a small sidenote, if something is being sold in a shop for any amount of money, by definition it's not abandonware.
This is the dumbest meme.
Just because the stats don't effect HP/MP like you thought they would isn't "stats do nothing"
>On Abandonware site for free
>Not Abandonware
The most GOG does is make it compatible for modern systems by applying most fan patches. I'm not gonna pay full price for something I could just do with a DOSBox.
just pirate it if you want to, but trying to justify it like that is sad
Speed is the only one that does anything impactful or meaningful. I'm not the only one who has come to this conclusion. By all means though, if they actually do anything explain to me what they do and how you tested it.
I'm not saying you should pay for it, but it's not abandonware because the current owners of the IP get a cut of the profit if you buy it on GOG. Now if GOG are offering it for free, then sure it's abandonware.
upload latest version for us
I said he should overhaul the attribute system. The accessibility part was clearly related to the basic shit i mentioned just before.
yes
please
DES at 98 or 100 saves you from death on multiple occasions, until its reduced to 95 (each Live Save means -1 to DES) and then you start to die more often from deadly hits.
100 STR gives you lot more weight allowance, more items to carry, like a wizard then can carry 200 daggers stack without getting overburdened.
Sorry I should have mentioned DES with speed you're right (although apparently the most recent patch broke DES, I haven't tested it since it came out so I can't say if it's true) but that's still only 2 stats man. That's still unacceptable RPG design.
Is there a manual yet?
"next friday"
See you "next friday" then
>boards.fireden.net
thank you kind man
looksclean
People need to report it to steam and keep up on it until they get it pulled.
thanks
Bit harsh to get it pulled although it's definitely early access. Not worth the price of entry at this point in time.
I suspect he's only done minimal work on it since since the superdemo release in 2013.
Far too many fundamental bugs popping up.
Still not even fixed the shit mouse cursor on .22
It's literally the first thing you see/feel when you start the game.
Likewise the Sound FX and Music sliders still can't be set independently.
No hardware MIDI support despite the game playing MIDI tracks i.e. no sound canvas.
Might as well have just used mp3 tracks.
So much for inferior SAP products.
Another update incoming:
steamcommunity.com
Maybe we should have a tally on how long it it'll take to balance the game.
2020 AD at the earliest.
Rough copy manual in two months.
Final physical/PDF manual next year.
Grimorie dlc in december
>DECEMBER
>not november
please, jews don't have that patience
>Insults and slurs intended to bait someone named Andrew
Hahaha holy shit. That became a thing?
Is there a fucking manual yet? I want to play the game but idk how to use 20 year old interfaces
Nope just read online hints and go on
waiting for manual. is a waste
This is honestly what I cannot understand? Are you guys that much of loyal slaves to the Neanderthal? His game literally isn't even close to finished and it is being sold on steam. Nearly 70% or more of the things he has stated about the game do NOT EXIST or are broken.
But since his fanbase is made up of entirely basement dwellers who probably would die of anxiety asking for a refund. Also helps that the guy keeps his steam forum for the game an utter safe space. ANY bad things about the game will be removed fast and you will be banned.
Any of these tactics from a real game maker and you'd all be fucking revolting.
I actually guessing 2020 is when the manual will be available.
DLC?? How about finish the fuckin game first, Neanderthal boy.
The game will be finished in the second part
in the future
Why paying once if you can pay twice...
You will have your 600 hours content do not worry
Actually Cleve said v2 will have 1200 hours of gameplay.
As for the manual what's there to know really?
It's Wizardry-like.
Roll optimal characters that get bonus points at creation or are otherwise well matched
i.e. Saurian Fighter, Wolfkin Cleric, Barrower/Drake Metalsmith
4d8 over 5d6. Male for STR, Female for FEL.
2 Fighters Front, Priest, Sage. Fill in the rest.
I don't find the system as flexible as Wizardry. Half the races are shit.
iirc Grimoire doesn't even have separate spell schools for magic like in Wizardry i.e. AIR, FIRE, EARTH.
>more of the things he has stated about the game do NOT EXIST or are broken.
Which is?
Finally someone calls out these faggot threads.
Maybe if people were allowed to have discourse instead of having the same 5 people spouting inside joke tier memes this game might actually be appreciated.
Daily reminder that those who are butthurt about Grimoire are literal casual weebs buttmad that their DRPGs are objectively casual compared to Grimoire.
>an utter safe space. ANY bad things about the game will be removed fast and you will be banned.
And his zealots post that screengrab of him saying reddit is bad and his own practices are downvotes on crack.
Because rollin drake metlasmith is easy
Even the optimal characters are mysterious as fuck.
Aeorb sage gets 2x the normal starting bonus and 2x attributes and skill points on every level up, while having pretty good mana regen.
Drows are recommended for spellcasters but get 1x modifier for everything and have the worse mana regeneration in the game. Literally the worse thing you can pick, tied with humans, who arent "balanced" at all.
>Female for FEL
Great, what does it do?
inb4 "maybe it increases barter and diplomacy", which are both useless because economy is broken and using charm/robbery/mind read is a million times more effective.
I thought we all agreed that it was fellatio.
I agree the class balance is shit.
True. I think you need a high roll - maybe 30 or high 20's.
Worth it though over a boring Fighter.
Especially once Cleve actually adds CRAFTING.
Don't DRPGs have functional dual classing?
You'll complete Grimoire before you get the chance to change to a Jester, Assassin or Pirate.
THAL CLASS BALANCING
Grimoire confirmed to be deader than Battleborn
>Don't DRPGs have functional dual classing?
Yes and so does Grimoire, just because you can use exploits to finish the game faster doesn't mean you can't dual class. V1 have already delivered hundred hours of content, V2 will deliver even more!
>CLASS BALANCING

yup
>doesn't mean you can't dual class
It does. Changing your class at lvl 10 does jack shit, the only way to enjoy the prestige classes is to hack them at creation.
You do not get any of the unique skills you're supposed to unlock like assassin's improved unnarmed skills or jester's trickery. Class changing may unlock heavier armor to wear and thats it.
Depending on your starting class/race its even a downgrade, wolfin ranger gets a 1.6x modifier to stats/skills on level up but only 1.0x as an assasin, while not getting any new gear.
at lvl 10 the game is almost over so why bother
