STOP OVERCLOCKING UNLOCKED CPUS
1600 or 1600x for gaming? Which offers more bang per buck? I'm upgrading from a FX-6300.
1600
1600, easily. the X doesn't come with a fan, you buy your own, and if you're willing to spend that much, you may as well go for a 1700. 1600 is the best right now.
Thanks, niggers, I was leaning towards the 1600 as well, but needed some reassurance.
>tfw i7 6700k
Man AMD fanboys have become insufferable now that AMD has released their first decent product in 10 years. Maybe try not tying your identity and happiness to brand names.
>AMD cucked beyond salvation in the field of GPUs
>They try to topple Intel, an even bigger giant, in the field of CPUs instead
>and they win
The funny part is that they're pretty successful. And Vega is good too... unless you want to play video games on it, of course. Then you just get Nvidia.
>competition is bad
>atom gets cucked by arm in mobile
>buys altera to enter fpga market
>gets cucked by xilinx
>AYYYMD still can't compete with Intel+Nvidia setups
Fucking kek

>not Ryzen + GeForce setup

Coffee Lake will completely obliterate Ryzen.
And Ice Lake will completely destroy any AMD CPU
Delidded, liquid cooled Coffee Lake? It probably will. That's a bit too much bother for too little effect.
I don't see a reason not to wait for Cannon Lake if you're an Intel fanboy, though. Will be less of a housefire, supposedly.
whats wrong with you?
>All shitposting is serious
Damn...
you do know that amd has been making cpus for 50 years, right? you couldnt honestly think that this is the first time amd has produced a cpu or something, only an underage retard would think something like that.
Anybody who thinks that a 6 core core i5 will cost less than $250 is a retard. The 1600 for $199 will still win in price: performance
A SOCKET
>tfw still using my i7-950 and doing just fine
Lmao
All these sad fucks arguing about specs meanwhile on my all and machine maxing every game how's the 500 plus more dollers wasted on Intel going hahhahahahhah
(tiny brain) playing video games and enjoying smooth experience regardless of your brand choices
(huge expanding brain) obsessively overclocking, running benchmarks and arguing your brand choice superiority based on them
>Been playing D44M all day
>Only 15 degrees hotter than it is in my room
Get water cooling you fools.
>7700 non-K with cheap cooler is literally better than any Ryzen and cool enough
>hurr durr delid dis!!! housfire!! reeeeeeee
>7700 non-K with cheap cooler is literally better than any Ryzen
It literally isn't.
Intel is the sports team that'd rather break the opponents legs than have to compete. I'll never buy Intel products, they are a malicious company on par with Comcast. They are cowards who resorted to illegal methods of crippling AMD because they couldn't make a better product:
Around 2005ish there were 2 "choices": Prescott (Intel) vs Athlon 64(AMD). The Athlon outperformed the Prescott chips, so Intel violated anti-trust/monopoly laws and paid OEMs such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc to delay or simply never release AMD-based products and order almost all of their CPUs from Intel. AMD sued and won this lawsuit to the tune of over a billion Euros, but long after the damage was done permanently--AMD had to sell their own fabrication facilities a few years back. Because of this, they have to wait for producers such as Global Foundries and TSMC to produce their processors, while Intel has their own factories and has maintained a solid year, if not more, of a lead in CPU fabrication shrinkage.
AMD even fucking tried to give HP a million free processors at one point, only to be told that HP was so dependent on Intel rebates, it couldn’t afford to take them.
It was never about the money, it was about stealing years of research time from AMD. 2 billion is absolutely worth years of advancement over the competition. FUCK INTEL.
Literally is.

>cpus for 50 years
Cpu didn't exist 50 years ago.
I will let you know saturday
they existed in the 60s, user
I'm sure you have lots of conclusive evidence and case studies to back up your wild claims.
>pre-ordering a game you know next to nothing about
...
>tfw my 7700K still demolishes any game
Ok, they perform pretty similarly. That memory is a bit slow-ish for Ryzen though, it really benefits from fast memory.
*rips your power bill*
>This CPU that overshoots any Sup Forums related process by 175% is better
>No, THIS CPU that overshoots any Sup Forums related process by 188% is better
Fucking 5 year old i5's are still running modern games at 120, who fucking cares
Its Kojima boi
The thing is that Ryzen may appeal now but as much as Intel are kikes, they won't let AMD just take the market. 8k Series will already have 2 additional cores and if that doesn't work with the customers, we'll see 2 more in the following year.
AMD needs to improve their single core performance drastically if they want to compete in 1-2 years. Up that point, you can't just throw more cores at the problem and hoping it fixes itself.
7nm Zen2 is planned for 2018. Of course, we know how "plans" and "AMD" works but their CPU division seems more competent that the GPU one. As a bonus, you'll be able to stuff it in OG Ryzen motherboard. Coffee Lake already requires a new socket and who knows about Cannon Lake...
>That memory is a bit slow-ish for Ryzen
3000mhz isnt slow
>*rips your power bill*

it doesnt, still a piece of shit considering it releases a year later at higher MSRP and just barely beats a 1070
because castlevania lord of shadows was such a good game?
Reminder that death stranding is an action game and kojima outsourced MGR because he couldn't figure out action and also the lord of shadows was a disaster of an action game.
Why doesn't amd just release a 4core 4ghz and be done with it? What is the point of spending so much on core count increases instead of just making the defacto best
>this same bullshit excuse
this competition is exactly bad. there is no competition. amd has been such utter trash in recent years that their competition is false competition. it's there on paper but doesn't exist in the market. ryzen is good but vega and even the rx 580 is selling like trash and vega deserves to sell like trash.
think about it, amd's best ever gaming gpu is slower than an upper midrange gpu from nvidia being the gtx 1080
4 cores are on the way out.
1080 isn't exactly "upper midrange", if you go higher there are only 1080Tis (released much later, pretty much THE top tier GPU today, something Vega sadly isn't even close to challenge today) and Titans (officially "not for gaming", except when they are).
>4core 4ghz and be done with it?
frequency =/= IPC
and you have to wait for ryzen refresh to get higher clocks
>ryzen refresh
When btw?
an upper midrange gpu that's $500
man

Ryzen is over performing, vega is underperforming. I wish it was the other way around honestly. Wanted more competition for nvidia and more competitive pricing.
diff user, thanks. i really think im going 1600 as well. anybody tried the 1700? really good experience?
been running this set up since '04
AMD + Nvidia for life!
It's an objective step up from 1600, but most games won't see much benefit from an even higher core count. If you do a lot of video editing or any sort of work that is very CPU heavy, go for it. By the time games can regularly use 8+ cores, you can upgrade to a newer CPU, with higher clocks and power efficiency. Unlike Intel, who switch up motherboard sockets every year, AMD's AM4 socket will be supported for another 3 refreshes, so there's upgrade paths down the line without having to buy everything all over again.
GiTS
noice
>Unlike Intel, who switch up motherboard sockets every year
Yeah, that's why coffee lake is 1151, right, retard?
>preordering hackjima's movie
I see you learned nothing.
Literally the one exception in several years, and one CPU generation doesn't mean much, especially for intel, who average less than 10% gains on last year's respective models.
A 7700K is just 300-400 dollar, m8.
It also outperforms every Ryzen in video games.
I like him, you dont. Move on
This and it's never gone above 45°C.
Feels good man.
Even got it overclocked to 5.0GHz fine and it's a fucking beast.
Intelfag here. My honest, discrete congratulations to AMDbros. Ryzen is almost as good as real, Intel CPU and is almost as price-effective. I'm really glad Ryzen happened, so Intel would feel competition and won't just rest on its laurels. Good drivers to you all and let's hope it won't get as ugly with TDP in future ryzen iterations as it happened with FX.
Should I go with the 1600x if i already have a cooler? Sounds like the smartest decision.
Almost fall for G4560 meme because my friend bought one., thanks god I waited for the R3 1200.
My desktop is snappy as fuck while gaming.
Anyone here a stock R7 1700 memester here?
Would be actually useful if Dwarf Fortress supported multiple cores
I should have bought that 1700 when it was on sale for 350 leafs.
Just wait for Ryzen Refresh.\
Current Ryzen still got so many hidden potential not unlocked yet.
Come back when you can beat haswell
>mfw I just drive across the border to the micro center in detroit whenever I need pc shit
The highest GPU on your picture (Vega 56 Turbo) is just 353 watts, and it's whole system consumption.
>brazil shitters and poorshitters (both of which dont belong in pc gaming) buy inferior amd products
>are jealous and lash out against those who can afford better products
my sides OOGA BOOGA
SOPA
>who can afford better products
But EPYC is not owned by Intel.
What now poorfag?
As actual third world shitter, I can assure you this is not true. Configurations with i5 CPUs coupled with entry level cards and cheapest PSU possible are quite popular here.
>he didnt buy the 6700k when it was $200 before any rebates
jive turkey
Wait, so Vega is now "bad" because it doesn't BTFO the 1070 hard enough? LMAO, at NOVIDIAcucks complaining that AMD didn't BTFO their overpriced garbage hard enough.
the vega 64 has like double the power draw
if you don't care about that whatever, but some of us care
The only reason you should buy a 7700k if you only bought a 1080ti and gaming at 4k60fps.
The same reason why you should never buy anything more than 1050ti when you buy a poorfag G4560 CPU.
Buy smart.
The 64 is shit and no sane AMD fanboy is defending that.
But the 56 is not bad at all.. as long AMD is not lying about the price.
