Thanks for the existential crisis
Thanks for the existential crisis
>entry level existential crisis
you have a long way to go user
I don't want any more
enlighten us user, show some better games that do this
as a short white hair stockings fetishist, the only existential crisis that was experienced belonged to my dick
Very specific fetish you have.
subarashiki hibi
soon on steam
Nier was pretty unbearably weeb, but this shit is just ridiculous.
>Visual novel
The Talos Principle hit me pretty hard

DUDE DEPRESSION LMAO
You won't find anything as daring on western video games
Get over it
You may be right but it's still not a game.
Definitely can recommend this one.
It's all puzzles and the robot isn't dolled up female with a big butt but the story and puzzles are fantastic.
Also to not spoil much some themes are pretty close to Nier:A although presented in somewhat different manner.
Fuck that shit, I was stuck on it for over an hour because I refused to be beaten and accept help. Felt like the game saying you're shit and offering to have someone help you, like resorting to summoning players in Dark Souls.
...
What existential crisis? They're robots. They're fundamentally different from human existence and you shouldn't lose sleep over it unless you're a weeb brainlet.
>VN
That one I could actually give a try. Puzzle-oriented games arent my thing though, seriously lose interest quickly and even fall asleep sometimes. Might give it a try someday.
Talos principle but it merely skims on the theme though, might give you a similar feel
Did you even finish the game? The whole thing is about overcoming existential crises.
Unclean WENCH
I want to hug pascal :'(
>unclean
why?
Just because the game pretty much tells you through narration to overcome it after ending E, doesn't make it so.
the game itself isn't about overcoming it at all. Many characters simply preferring suicide/death. Including A2, who chooses to die, should you choose her ending. With 9S, the only showing of this is the simple choice you get via the ending text, where you can choose to join everyone on the "Ark"
>the game itself isn't about overcoming it at all
The game has a very heavy influence of Camus and suicide is a valid response to understanding an utter absurdity of the world.
All 3 main characters rebel against the absurd at some point too, and while they are getting crushed for it, they actually manage to change (in 2B's case it happened before the game events already and culminated on her selfless sacrifice for a guy she loves, 9S manages to understand that his hatred was never justified and either shuts down with peace thinking about 2B or lives forever in robot paradise, A2 dedicates her life to paying respects for 2B and her final wish instead of blindly killing everything on her way because she was betrayed), plus their suffering was enough for Pods to gain self-awareness and save them on a brink of death by uniting together, overcoming the negative narrative about meaninglessness game was trying to instil on you constantly.
The game showcases a lack of desire to continue without purpose. The main characters are only driven until their purpose is fulfilled, be it 9S sole desire to kill A2. A2 only wanting to fulfill 2B's request. And 2B never managed to complete her goals, so she entrusted them to A2 and died anyway, not that there was a way for her to survive, so her end is irrelevant in the scope of persisting in the face of meaningless. They accept death, but don't overcome a lack of reason to live. When actually presented with an opportunity, as A2 is at the end, she chooses death.
how about a book you fucking peasant?
They almost die BECAUSE they overcame but world crushed them (quite literally citing the Myth of Sisyphus where gods punished a rebelling human), not because they managed to not overcome. And in result 2B and 9S managed to outlive the war together and A2 gets to see the beautiful world she came to adore so much.
>Game where all the characters represent different famous philosophers and their point of view in a big all out war
>Camus wins the philosopherbowl
What did Taro mean by this?
>They almost die BECAUSE they overcame but world crushed them
But they didn't. They were following their programmed goals and orders up until everything went to hell. Then only persisted for the sake of the other. We don't get to see how they would persist if they found eachother since 2B dies before 9S reaches her. Giving 9S a new purpose (revenge)
In terms of living after finishing your purpose or finding your own meaning, everything the game conveys is negative. Aside from the aforementioned accepting of death in the previous post by the main characters, many otherside characters like Engels simply don't wish to continue.
Literally at the end of ending E the pods convey to eachother that they're unsure about whether the androids will be able to find meaning in life or just repeat the cycle anew.
I'm actually surprised Taro decided to not include Camus while taking a huge dump on Sartre and his feminist girlfriend.
I beat this game like 2 months ago and I promise to god that I can't remember what the plot after the first playthrough was. Not memorable at all.
The plot is quite generic. AI overlord has been the puppet master the whole time, must overcome AI overlord. The interesting parts of the game are the questions it evokes from many of the characters.
>Then only persisted for the sake of the other
That's kinda one of the points of existential philosophy and one of the messages of ending E.
> We don't get to see how they would persist if they found eachother
Ending O states that if they run together they survive.
>In terms of living after finishing your purpose
They never finish it, they are always left with longing after going through a major catharsis and get fucked by the world around them.
>Literally at the end of ending E the pods convey to eachother that they're unsure about whether the androids will be able to find meaning in life or just repeat the cycle anew.
The main message of ending E is that life is still worth a shot and a struggle even if that will make you look embarrassing. There's also no cycle unless you were playing the game with your ass and never saw the timeline.
