emulation box with downloaded roms to fulfill the nostalgia meme of 30 yo manbabbies, like the Nintendo emulation boxes.
>but mhu collectionism
lol,no.

Its not though, it has USB ports, SD card slots and Ethernet ports, which means it'll be recieving downloaded content and updates through internet connection.

Allegedly according to Atari it will play "New Modern Games" So does that mean Mobile shit and indies, or actual third party dev'd PS4/Xbone titles and First party?

but they already have those. why would they make another one? they've been shoving these things out for years and no one buys them.

>Allegedly according to Atari it will play "New Modern Games" So does that mean Mobile shit and indies,
mobile games are considered modern games.

This, even the ATFB8 comes out next month and nobody wants it.

My money is on ARM/Linux system with a custom interface and an online store for ROMs and more recent games.
Basically a more expensive, more powerful, locked down Raspberry Pi.

>Modernism

Jesus christ this console is ugly. Whats with modern art and these monochrome raised/lowered line designs? PS4 is literally a fucking paralellogram, what as wrong with the old CPU console design?

the ouya was truly ahead of its time

If it's an open system where I can install Kodi & emulators among other things then I might get one assuming it's not over $150.

Its specs are speculated (at least atari claims) to rival current gen consoles on market, so expect $250+

Ouya 2.0

Actually yeah it was. People laughed at the idea of a 'console' using one of Nvidia's mobile SOCs because there was no way it would play games like Skyrim.
Fast forward to today, the Switch is a console built with one of Nvidia's mobile SOCs and it can play Skyrim.

Thats because Nintendo has the unlimited funding to sink into an experimental device like the switch. Ouya went fucking bankrupt after a few hundred releases. Look at nintendo right now, the only reason people buy the switch is ebcause it has nintendo IPs that they like and familiarity. Imagine if the switch launched with only mobile ports and some indies. do you really think it would even survive when everyone in this ages has an S4 or higher?

Wait, what? Atari is trying to get back into the console industry?

>fulfill the nostalgia meme of 30 yo manbabbies

30 year olds are too young for this. Closer to 40.

>Original Atari IPs

Would not hold. Atari was the basis for every genre on the market, if a new title came out it would feel inferior to the curent competition.

>Highway loses to NFS, Forza, Gran Turismo
>Space invaders loses to R-type, Tohou, Gradius
>Asteroids loses to Starfox, EVE and any other space arcade
>Adventure loses to Zelda and every other single adventure game
>Pacman, Digdug, Donkeykong are all licensed titles that can't be reimagined by atari because they are ports that already evolved past that threshold by their respective companies

Its gonna fail any way you look at it.

Because we're talking the company that sent the love letter to the first major crash in video games due to over-saturation then proceeded to sell it's name to some nobody huffing paint and smearing nostalgia images on the wall in his shit. Atari is literally the 70s version of EA, but thousands of times worse by every conceivable way possible due to this. Somehow they have remained as the hollowed out husk of the fallen sith lords that control our universe. And somehow people are excited by this. It's as if they told us Aliens exist, here's evidence, then revealing all it was is a jar of glowing piss.

There's definitely some experimental aspects to the Switch, but at its core its an off the shelf Nvidia SOC with a feature set not that different from Nvidia's Shield tablets.

They already tried "modernizing" classic titles like this in the PS1 era

That's silly when it doesn't sound like it's going to have multiplats or first party Atari games that rival the console competition. The console itself doesn't have visible ventilation so I doubt they plan to put anything graphically demanding on it.

its hbqt certified

They finished the line of coke that stretched around the world a 45 year trip to the culmination of one grand idea. Compete now. Buy more coke.

>Imagine if the switch launched with only mobile ports and some indies.

It literally fucking did, are you shitting me nintenbro. BOTW is a Wii-U port NOT a switch exclusive.

>It's ryzen/vega hardware with free online

Groovy

My game will be on there, it will be the Metroid killer.

Because people lost their fucking minds over the NES/SNES Classic and Atari wants in on that action. All of their previous attempts have been cheap toy aisle/mall kiosk things that you get little Timmy for Christmas; now they're playing the marketing game and trying to sell it like an actual nostalgia collector's item.

They already said it wasn't a NES Classic ordeal and that it's a new console.
I still suspect it will fail as fast as the Ouya did though

I just don't understand how this is their return to consoles when have existed for years.

Post name and I promise to buy 2 copies.

>ryzen/vega

Oh boy, I can't wait to play on a $500 overclocked 8-core flagship chip which loses to Intel's stock clocked $60 2-core Pentium

I don't think you know what port means

>Fallout4
lmao

It's your prom date, you ugly sack of shit

...

The problem with Atari is that they have maybe 2-3 games worth playing on their console. Almost every game on the NES classic, and on the SNES classic are instant classics.

It's developed in UE4, a 3d sidescroller. Title is still work in progress, but it has a steampunk setting with emphasis on exploration, bosses that move and track you to ambush you, and creating your own equipment instead of collecting powerups.

...

>Subjective taste cant possibly be a thing!

I really like the design, Might gut one and make it MPC

You had me at steampunk.

You are what's wrong with this industry. AMD are the good guys they dindu nuffin they are here for the community unlike NVIDIA or JEWTEL who only rape gamers such as us. How can you defend the devil like that?

Good, expect a post on Sup Forums in a month with prealpha footage.

if you had an atari when you were a kid you would be 40 -50 now

>a 3d sidescroller

Butthurt shill.

>3D sidescroller

Pass. Pixel or bust.

Remember when AMD sent out memos to all the review sites on Ryzen's launch day, telling them to benchmark at 4K, since benchmarking at high resolutions is almost 100% GPU-dependent and hides the CPU's inadequacy?

Classic stuff

Shit, I love to play Crysis 1 at 1024x768 on the lowest settings. I really should buy an i7 7700k for that.

Really? We had plans for 2d in the beginning, but the market is flooded. Besides, jumping into and out of the screen to access hidden paths make for great exploration and more creative levels.

NES/SNES Classic are scalpers' products, the library has nothing to do with their success. It's the same shit with Amiibo, no one cares what NFC functions they have, they are simply collector's items to be bought and sold.

NO I DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE IT AMD ARE THE GOOD GUYS

3D sidescrollers exist

Fuck off lazy asshole. You chose 3D because it was cheaper an easier ya damn sellout. If you're not going to put in the effort, I'm not going to buy it.

*2.5D

Nigger

It's a way to test CPU performance by offloading as much of the processing power to the CPU rather than the GPU.

Benchmarking at low resolution on low settings loads the majority of the burden onto the CPU, which is ideal for CPU benchmarking.

>using a game from 2007 which only uses 2 cores as a benchmark for modern hardware

Why not use GlQuake demo1 while you're at it?

Thats 2.5D idiot

...

Dope.

2.5d I suppose is the correct term actually. Since you are technically locked to movement in a plane with exception to splines and certain other mechanics. But the world is made in 3d like klonoa

>>using a game from 2007 which only uses 2 cores as a benchmark for modern hardware

Except it doesn't only use 2 cores, which is why the 6950xx (a 10-core chip with low individual core performance) beat the 7700k (the strongest individual-core chip currently out)

...

Is it dark and violent?

>All these jive-ass motha'humpas thinking they can dis the current boogiebeat that is the Ataribox.

Get yo' fat asses outta here and get jiggy with the new box, ya hear?

youtube.com/watch?v=YinvawEs1-s

but we threadripper nao! look how could it sounds! it fuckin rips dude lol!

You're right. 2D pixel le indie retroshit isn't going to stand out at all.

Delid this.

>Intel shills shitting up an unrelated thread again
Can't wait until 2019 when I can upgrade to a 10nm processor with worse performance. Good thing we've got Coffin Lake to hold us over until then.

Modern gamers no longer desire Atari games

>delid
subtle

YouTube benchmarks mean nothing, I can benchmark a bulldozer chip and label it 'RYZEN R7 1800X' in my youtube graph. Anyone with an agenda can mislead.

Reminder that:

>Witcher 3 Hairworks ran bad on AMD cards so AMD created lies that Gameworks has malicious code in the .dll files which hits AMD cards harder than Nvidia cards, despite Hairworks running equally bad on both
>AMD blamed Gameworks for sub-par performance in Project Cars, even though it later turned out that game didn't use Gameworks but the devs worked together with Nvidia to make the game run good on Nvidia hardware
>Project Cars devs have reached out multiple times to AMD with latest builds attempting to work together with them too, but AMD flat out didn't respond for months and overall didn't seem to care much
>A lot of other devs say the same thing about AMD and that Nvidia immediatly pushes for co-operation with devs on newly announced PC games

AMD will ALWAYS blame their competition and AMD LOVES to play the victim.

>10nm
AMDrones literally don't understand Planck length

It has large dark cave systems, and there will be blood and destructible bodies. It's not overly violent though, and there won't be much text or voice in it. I suppose an eerie ambience is a better description.

>b-but your benchmarks are fake
Is intel using the money they save with their jizz TIM to pay you?

You won't get 10nm on high-TDP silicon, the electrons exhibit quantum spill

>Digital foundry is taking it
Kys shill.

>PCūcks ruin another thread with hardware autism.

Cringe.

youtube.com/watch?v=TDvk9_iTq6Y

Realistic or cartoon kid shit?

>thread about hardware
>cry when you realize you wasted $200 on junk

N-NO!
MY YOUTUBE BENCHMARK IS THE CORRECT ONE! NOT YOURS!

>Intel fanboy derails thread that isnt about PCs
How many levels of autism is this guy on?

>Intel

Which benchmarks are trustworthy then?

Stylized, but definitely not cartoon. It's mostly technical limitations. Don't expect 4k textures anywhere.

STOP SPEAKING CHINESE. I CANT UNDERSTAND A DAMN WORD IN THIS THREAD.

Only the ones he posts.

It literally started development on the Wii U and was held back to release for Switch.

The ones from trusted tech publications who have a vested interest in maintaining their reputations.

See:

>No popular site could ever be bribed
lol

They get paid by the post.

Atari exclusive?

>that pic

ROTR already got a patch update for Ryzen that put it on a very close level to 7700k.
5 ~ 7% lesser fps is fine as you got more extra core for multitasking which is in the end better for you in real world use.

So I should avoid Intel because jewery and AMD because incompetency, does that mean Nvidia is the only option left?

>Nvidia
housefires and gimped driver updates

Everyone is shit, buy nothing ever.

Actually it's the brand that sold it. Atari isn't nearly as hype to the norms.
