i dunno, i liked it

Miyamoto

Tanabe

...

Liked it too. Catchy music, great visuals.

Too bad it was shit

I hope they get rid of the white outlines that all characters have. I know it's because MUH PAPER but the original style was better. Plus paperboard is fucking everywhere.

It certainly had flaws, like the combat system or one-hit KO attacks on every boss if you don't use the right item which just becomes boring at some point. But overall, it was fun.

I liked it but its not perfect. Im a little upset Junior didn't make it in but overall I enjoyed it.

Literally everything, but mostly going from paper just being the art style that's never mentioned by characters in universe (the curse guys don't really count, they're more delivery methods for gameplay mechanics than actual characters in the universe) to just straight up characters spouting "DUDE PAPER LMAO" every 2 sec

Nintendo drones really have no standards at all. They think if there's a Nintendo label on the box then it's automatically good.

That picture is outdated.

>Literally just fucking said it wasn't perfect
Do you even bother to read posts you quote before you post retard?

Nintendo didn't listen to feedback

It's far from just "not perfect", it's genuinely a bad game

I wish they would stop using marios ttyd desing I really hate how it looks

>it's genuinely a bad game
Correct. But I personally enjoyed it. Im still waiting for a real TTYD or 64 style sequel but the chances of that happening are very slim at this point.

Oh my, you certainly showed us.
True, making a Sticker Star-like game wasn't clever.

...

>Nintendo didn't listen to feedback

You do understand you can listen to feedback but not follow it to a T? I'm glad Color Splash was the way it was really damn good.

>I know it's because MUH PAPER but the original style was better.

What original style? The art style has changed like 3 times across 5 games.

You are a tiny, tiny minority. CS was hated by fans.

>CS was hated by fans.

The ones who like less than half the games in the series?

Oh god its this autist again.
Time to abandon thread.

Only the first 2 games actually sold, the rest have had middling to terrible sales.
I think that's a pretty good bellwether.

Of course you'll suck Nintendo's dick 25/7 anyway.

Mario RPGs kinda went from a highlight IP to one of those Nintendo IPs where a game once in a while gets released but no one gives a shit.

>Wow why do you fake fans only like the good Paper Mario games? Why don't you like the garbage ones too?
Go fuck yourself

Will Paper Mario fans ever admit that TTYD was a rehash and full of glaring flaws like the huge amount of backtracking and the sidequests outside the port being absolute shit?

When will underage fags admit that Color Splash was a rehash of Sticker Star? At least TTYD is a rehash of a good game.

Check again retard because Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star are the two best selling entries.

Literally no one but the most retarded nintendo fans give a fuck about anything after TTYD so there is nothing to admit.

what a waste, that left design is top tier and something you could expect in an early paper mario game.
that final design is a clear representation of the direction in which sticker star went to.

The only reason Sticker Star sold so well is because of literal false advertising.

>DUDE EVER NOTICE HOW WE'RE MADE OF PAPER? LMAO!

Fuck this game and fuck this company.

Regardless if you like the games, they both were sequels that expanded their previous game in various ways. People need to stop acting like a game is a straight-up rehash for having similarities when there are multiple improvements, new ideas implemented and a new plot in the game.

>Someone likes videogames? not on my watch

They traded a simple but fun battle system and an actual story for better dialogue and mid-chapter events.

But the original 2 had events that happened in the middle of the chapter (by the way, SS/CS don't go by chapters) and I disagree on the dialogue quality.

Miyamoto is a hack

Yes but Color Splash is basically an entire game of mid-chapter events, which might bother those that are embarrasing enough to genuinely like the anime-esque melodrama of stuff like PM2 and SPM instead of focusing on where the games truly did shine, which was humor and charm.

Then why did it sell so well over a long period of time rather than a spike of sales that collapsed? I mean it still sold an extra 100k last year, 4 years after its launch.making it the 3rd best selling Mario RPG of all time despite games like Mario & Luigi SSS and Partners in Time being on better selling systems.

>humor and charm.
Most of CS's dialogue is reddit-tier drivel. I could throw some lines from CS into a bioware game and it wouldn't seem out of place.

>But the original 2 had events that happened in the middle of the chapter

Except in cases chapters with interesting story lines like Chapter 4 of TTYD required you to walk back and forth through the same screens of enemies for a tiny snippit of dialogue. Whereas in Color Splash you go from event to event.

Also you don't have to deal with Peach teaching a computer how to love and 30 minutes between chapter where you walk back to the TTYD, Peach sends you an email that 5/6's of the time doesn't matter, Frankly theorising about what's behind the door that's rendered pointless by the one email that Peach sends that does matter.

I was counting the main arcs of each Big Paint Star in as each chapter in CS specifically. There's more going on in general especially when comparing the train and pirate chapters directly with those in TTYD.

This picture cannot be real

Nothing. It's the best game in the series by some distance, superior even to the excellent Sticker Star.

It's directly from the game, user, I hate CS but one of things I did like a lot was unlocking concept art for filling up the museum.

>Paper Mario is dead

>ghost in the top right that reminds me of that one boss from the Toy Chest is best design there by a country mile

>ink bat in the top right is best design there by a nautical mile

>they go with almost generic toad and a literal bucket instead
Yep, series is long dead and they're raping the corpse.

these make me unbelievably sad and slightly angry
post more

Well here is some of the toads.

And a few more.

Now here is some concepts for the black ink and Bowser.

Creativity is dead.

they continued the SS trend of ditching most things that made the first two games good and replacing it with some shitty mechanic

>pretty much all super same-y looking, with some slight variation in color or rarely clothing
>as compared to the first two games, where every toad not only had different personalities but also vastly differing appearances
series is ded

>>ghost in the top right that reminds me of that one boss from the Toy Chest is best design there by a country mile
They're called Lantern Ghosts & they're from Yoshi's Island.

You forgot the most creative Toads.

>ink bat in the top right is best design there by a nautical mile

Huey's final design is the best and it suits his personality.

"Hey, we finally made a Paper Mario game that Japan likes! Do it again!"
"But America hated Sticker Star."
"Who gives a fuck about them? Buncha asswipes can fuck off, Japanese pride forever!"

More accurate image.

Oh hey its you again.
And to be honest I liked how it spelled out "KEY" instead of the weird designs they have on the right.

In Color Splash the Toads actually do things other than standing about and flapping their mouths. All you want is eye candy and your preference is nothing short of superficial.

Literally the only chapters with glaring amounts of backtracking were 2, 4 and 7. The rest had minimal backtracking. And TTYD wasn't a rehash, it expanded from the first by adding new things like:
-Partners having HP
-Higher stat limits
-Audience giving you Star Power
-Stylish commands
-Super guard
-New badges
-Pit of 100 trials

>the Toads actually do things other than standing about and flapping their mouths.
The first two games actually have NPCs that aren't Toads. Its expected that since there are only Toads they will have a bit more active role.
Idiot.

I prefer what they went with also out of the 2 & the key thing is cute but I still find the final designs in general to be weak regardless.

Intelligent System makes a Paper Mario game with a combat system like the first two, complete with leveling, FP, badges, etc. HOWEVER:
>All Paper Mario exclusive/popular species like the Bub-Ulbs, Doogans, Ratooeys, Punis, Ninjas, Bandits, are all cut. 95% of what you talk to will still be Toads
>Bowser is the main villain
>No continuity or references are made to the first 3 games
>Chapters are replaced with the levels gimmick, and there is no personality or subplots with the characters in them. Chapters are meet partner > get to the end > kill boss.
>Koopas still don't get their sunglasses back
This is precisely this would play out. The question is, would you be satisfied with it?

Even a new generation Pokemon game has more changes than that.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

...

...

>All you want is eye candy and your preference is nothing short of superficial.

Visual variety is ABSOLUTELY important in games, especially RPGs. Calling it "superficial" is missing the point by a country mile.

Literally the reason why we never received another classic Paper Mario game is because Miyamoto didn't want another rehash.

No.

Why the fuck do we need to compromise on quality? These people need to just stop making fucking shitty games.

>Only more than a third of the chapters have a glaring amount of backtracking

>gone home is shit i hate walking simulators
>oh i love/like color splash
????

Even then chapter 7 only has one the General white thing that only lasts like five minutes and then no more back tracking. Don't act like the game has majority wise is composed of backtracking.

because nintenbros don't have taste

Y'all know what I hope happens?
I hope they put Gamecube virtual console on the Switch, just so everyone can buy TTYD en masse and hopefully outnumber SS and CS sales completely, and fucking convince Nintendo that we don't like and don't want any more of their SS/CS shit.

The gameplay would be nice & I find that to be the most important part but it would always feel half-baked to me at the end of the day and I still would be bitching to some extent.

>Koopas still don't get their sunglasses back
You have no fucking idea how triggered I am by this still.

>THREE (3) (over one THIRD, just shy of HALF of the game's chapters) have an annoying amount of backtracking
don't act like backtracking wasn't relevant

Nintendo fans hate the Paper Mario fanbase because, along with Metroid fans, they are the only ones who are willing to call out Nintendo's bullshit.
So they'll pretend that Color Splash is good just so they can spite Paper Mario fans.

>Literally the only chapters with glaring amounts of backtracking were 2, 4 and 7. The rest had minimal backtracking.

No they didn't. Chapter 5 had loads too, Chapter 1 placed Hooktail's castle in a way that would maximise backtracking. The only ones without was chapter 3, 6(unless you count all the times you're just walking back and forth between train cars) and the final.

Also TTYD rehashed nearly all the partner abilities and the one new one was shit. With the exception of the new shellkick ability where you can hold it in place they're all used in the exact same sort of puzzles PM64 used them.

>Goombella = Goombario(Advice) - copy
>Koops = Kooper (Shell Kick + hold) -expanded
>Flurrie (Blows) - new
>Yoshi = Parakary(flutter) + Spike(riding) - copy
>Vivian = Bow(hide in the shadows) - copy
>Bobbery = Bombette(Explode) - copy
>Ms. Mous = I Spy Badge - copy

Where did I say it wasn't relevant? I said it's not the majority of the game.

>Catchy music, great visuals.

Every. Fucking. Time.

"Oh but the music's good! It's pretty!"

Nigger, every single one of these games look good. They all have great music.

I doubt anyone does have this but does anyone have a save file for Sticker Star that's close to or even better right when you get to the Jungle World (I believe it's World 5?). I've been needing a couple screenshots from the game showing off Goombella's message in the garbage (and apparently Parakarry has one also) but you can only get it your first time around since the vacuum cleans the place permanently and I refuse to replay the game up to that point.

Nothing. It was better than the last game.
That's what we call an improvement.

...

It doesn't have to be a majority for it to bee too much

Thousand Year Door had too much backtracking.

Just because its an improvement over the last mediocre entry doesn't make it good. I'm sure COD games have improved on their basic mechanics in later entries, that doesn't mean they are good games.

...

Honestly, I don't know why, but I absolutely hate this new "everything is paperCRAFTS" art style.
I far prefer 64 and TTYD art style, where everything was just paper and nothing else. No cardboard, no stickers, no tape or foil or real world objects or anything like that.
It just felt far more cohesive and well-made and looked far better to me.

>The last game was fucking so bad even Miyamoto called it boring
>They polished the turd slightly for the sequel

>It's a bad game
>I enjoyed it
Then surely you don't think it's a bad game?

The non-Toads in the original 2 don't do much either. In fact the NPCs are so un-animated in those game that nobody but Mario and Peach have backsprites in PM64 and TTYD.

Also, fuck this outline shit.
The games are "Paper Mario" NOT "Papercraft Mario"
/rant

You can like something while knowing it's not good.

>Chapter 5
>Only have to go back and forth from base camp and cave two times
>Chapter 1
>Literally just go to point a and then back to where you started from
I don't get why these are so much of a big deal. Don't act like tossing Bobbery is 100% identical to simpling dropping Bombette and how does Flurrie's ability suck?
