This is why since knowing what was going on with Sega since 2001, the only thing i wanted from Shenmue was for Yu to write a damn book or at the very least explaining what would happen in the next chapters of Ryo's journey, explaining about the other leaders of the Chinese Mafia of Yous, about that destiny thing with Ryo and some random girl in the forest, etc

With 3 i always knew shit would happen, the 2017 release would never happen, that would look worse than 2 and that 3 is not even ending the damn story leading to another hole with questions to be answered
So far 3 is just about fucking Guilin and there is nothing about how the game works

Do you know how hyped shenmue was back in the day? Shenmue was a good seller and sold over a million copies, it wasnt some niche indie shit. The problem was its ridiculous budget and sega being in a financial hole going all the way back to the 32x/saturn era not the game sales itself.

In my country most gamers barely knew about Shenmue, or that the Dreamcast even existed. They were busy playing Playstation or something on Pc, because Sega was "killed" in that era since all those add-ons for the Mega Drive and sega saturn being a flop in the west in terms of games.

Sure, when those gamers saw Shenmue they were amazed by that, as they were with Soul Calibur.

I personally got hyped by a magazine few months before Dreamcast was released and Shenmue 1 would only be released a year after that. That shit already spoiled 2, as those trailers about "1" were mostly about 2 and some beta stuff that in the final game was different, like that little kid in 2 that steals your bag actually appeared in more parts in the beginning of the game.
