Kerbal Space Program

We had a one of these a while back and I appreciated everyone who turned up.

The game really has a special place in my heart as it sparked a deep interested in pretty much every field it barely touches. Playing this has been a gateway into many fields of science and engineering for me.

Anyone else playing this or interested in playing? I'll be happy to talk.

i hate threads like these, they make me remember how retarded i am.

Is this a stock aircraft? If not, it could be. Simple and elegant. Like the look of it.

also, a floating rock
because fuck you

BRAAAAAAAAAP

It's not a question of being retarded or not. You just have to aquire a very specific set of skills. It's like trying chess for the first time and wondering why you fail. Learn the rules and play by them.

Read up a couple tutorials on optimal orbital launches and ship design.

You can do it user!

Nah, it's my shoddy recreation of Su-27/35 aircraft family

kek, watch some skirt mantrap

also, have a nice shot of my Duna relay, because it looks cool

thank you for your words of encouragement, I will give ksp another try

>can't get a ship to orbit without using all the fuel
So add 1 more fuel tank. It doesn't take a whole lot to get back down to the ground, you just need enough to get back into the atmosphere and then the air will do the rest of your decelerating for you.

buddy

...

One question.

WHY
H
Y

Isn't that a little big for a relay?

...

why what?

It's also for orbital science and sheit
also because I like overdesigning stuff in this game

It has 3 ... I repeat, 3 nukes on them. They are 3,000kg each.

gibe craft file plos

>caring about weight when you can just slap more rockets on it
you're smalltime, kid

give me your email or something and I'll send it later

You know when you're launching something big if your liquid strap on boosters are 2.5m stacks powered by main sails. Damn.

...

The more realistic they make this game the worse I get at it. I can hardly build a simple ship without it going FUBAR before I leave the atmosphere

>pm'd you the fix
fuck you

try to make more aerodynamical designs that are tall and sleek. Put fins at the bottom and make sure it's symmetric.

Like this guy.

Go big or go home, yay?

No really I mean it, you want it or not, faggot?

I've only ever played old beta versions, because I'm afraid I'll be too retarded to do much with it and will have wasted money.

It never seems to go on sale for low enough to disregard that.

That's pretty similar to what I usually end up building. Maybe I'm just messing up my gravity turn or doing it at the wrong time

It's a very capable design and doesn't need to be controlled during the first minute of ascent at all. Just tilt it 3° east and it'll launch on a good trajectory. The trajectory is another important thing to consider actually. Start your turn early and aim for 45° of pitch angle at 10,000-15,000m for good boost.

mexicans are worse then jews
just pirate it, nigga

Recently started using the Galileo planet pack mod after getting a little burnt out exploring all the stock planets/moons, it really breathed a lot of new life into the game.

Agreed. The asking price of 40€ is a joke. The lowest it goes these days is 20€ which is still a lot. I got it for 7€ back in the day.

There is a demo though that you can play. It's a few versions behind but playable. They are updating it at the moment, though.

I haven't pirated anything for about three years. Even if I wanted to, my only choice in ISP is AT&T and they'll ram it up my ass if I pirate.

The most recent version I have is the first one they added the tech tree and the missions to, so it's not that far off. I just know I'm missing a lot of important parts. Also have a super-early version that's damn-near unplayable by comparison.

especially when you consider that all the people who actually created the game are long gone. the "developers" now are just a bunch of random guys that didn't do anything worthwhile so far.

>getting cucked out of pirating vidya
lmao
>1st world

I don't think there's DRM. I launch it through the .exe all the time rather than through steam, and it never tries to force me to launch it through steam.

Just download it from somewhere.

It's DRM free, I'm sure you can find a current version very easily

I have AT&T and the only time I ever got a letter from them was when my sister visited and watched a movie on her laptop via an XBMC addon that used a popular tracker.

Obscure shit like KSP isn't on anyone's radar.

Okay, any chance for a DDL? If not, what's the current relevant tracker? It's been years and I doubt TPB would be smart if it's even still getting new addresses.

I appreciate this thread.

I havent gotten on KSP for about a month and a half, but I had been barely managing to get into the moon's orbit, let alone land on the fucking thing. I know I'm not studying up enough, but I also got a good dose of inspiration to continue with my degree in engineering.

When I was last playing, I had been trying to find a good balance between weight and fuel; I know that I should be using something other than pure liquid, but again, not enough reading up. Any suggestions on how to go about getting a good ratio?

Also, the gifs are good I love seeing the crazy shit people pull off

igg

>something other than pure liquid
SRBs are vital for getting out of the lower atmosphere.

>that glorious, amazing feel when you perform a successful rendezvous in low kerbin orbit
>that wondrous experience of realizing how you were approaching it all wrong and how you needed to be thinking about it

KSP taught me a lot about relativity

Thanks, did they add rebinding controls yet by the way? I forgot until I got to the link that the reason I haven't been playing my versions is that my right mouse button is fucked and it keeps me from moving the camera comfortably in assembly.

Used to have my buttons' functions reversed, it took me a month to re-adapt to the standard.

>add 1 more tank even if its a small one
>weight of the ship makes it slower and consumes more fuel
>so add one more engine
>now i need more fuel
