Game goes from a 8/10 to a 10/10 on multiple playthroughs
Serious question, is Automata actually good for replays? I was planning to replay it in a year or two when I've forgotten most of the plot and make it like a yearly playthrough game.
I don't think it is, for me there aren't enough interesting enemies, but if you enjoyed the game enough then play it when you want to.
5/10 to a 7/10*
I agree the game could really use more enemies.
I'll replay it if they release better DLC. I think it's pretty good for replays because the combat is very enjoyable.
should i pirate this game
You mean from 6/10 to fuck this reused trash, dropped?
I started a new game almost immediately after finishing it. I got halfway through C before I dropped it and it was definitely worth it.
It might just be a personal thing but the way that characterisation is done and applied retroactively in Automata left me entirely detached from the main cast. I still loved it but almost none of the emotional moments really got to me. On my second time around however they hit me like a fucking truck.
You should support Taro and Platinum but sure.
Yes
>a robot with hotpants
I never realized how incredible this was until it hit me right in the face
i tried the demo on ps4, the voice acting seemed fucking awful and i thought it was weird that 2B said to 9S "hey, no emotions" but then 10 minutes later was almost crying near his broken body.
But anyway, I heard the PC version is utter shit and crashes every 30 minutes and has performance issues despite looking like a ps3 game. That's the main reason I was gonna pirate. I need to test out how it runs.
I've gone through A-E twice so in my opinion yes
There are a lot of things that you catch on or have new context once you replay through whole game again.
Has anyone figured out how Ending E works when you pirate it?
>hotpants
Pretty sure it sends NPCs to help you if there's no deleted save file names to accompany you. It's not as if the game needs actual save data in order to make a pew pew laser graphic work. All you're getting is names/handles of people who deleted their save files when playing online. That's the only difference.
With no network connection the offer for assistance is never given. There's a video of some streamer fag who had no connection because Sony's network shit itself and he attempted to do E for two hours.
The inconsistencies in their personalities have a reason. You just gotta play through the story to understand it. It's worth a full playthrough and even a second run
Seriously? So the game is impossible to complete offline?
I enjoyed it more when I fully replayed it a few weeks ago (played first time fully at release) thanks to the added context and characterization of the novellas/in-game endings. You easily spot a few more hidden things. There's so many weapons and pod programs that you can easily spice the combat up by trying some odd new combinations, I became a huge fan of the grapple hook personally. The music is just as great a second time through.
Really? I thought for sure mine was fake because one of the filenames was "Your Waifu"
user the black parts on A2 (with the exception of the cloth over her midsection) are patches of missing skin.
Someone beat it solo but it took them like 2.5 hours
I never played the game, just jerked off to sfm porn and watch a movie of all the cut-scenes.
you can use cheat engine for infinite health
I play on console.
then I guess you'll have to git gud
A2 is best girl. 2B faggots fuck off, she's unpure after 9S used her roboass.
you guys are meming yourselves if you don't think it was clever intentional design to look like hotpants
The whole "best girl" group can fuck off
Well yeah it was a design choice, but I get triggered when I see fanart depicting it as hotpants/sports bra and I feel the need to make it known. It's like seeing Kaine fanart without the bulge.
Replays until you see ending E are mandatory, the story isn't really complete until you've done that.
After that, it's basically the same as any single-player-only game.
>you play most of the game as that huge faggot 9S
why did Taro do it? fucking cunt
>from 6/10 to 8/10
ftfy
It was the better decision
Replaying at least once is heavily vital to the actual overall story simply because of how many subtle things you wouldn't otherwise notice
He's a better character but I wish the hacking minigame was bound to something else other than the heavy attack button.
The original protag was going to be an old woman
Replaying after reaching ending E allows you to take absolutely different look at 2B/9S relationships, and the game has a shitload of subtle moments that you wouldn't understand until you know what's actually going on between them, like why she was sad while brushing off 9S' attempts to get closer to her in amusement park.
I was under the impression that it was an oldER woman, looking more like the Commander. Ara ara, and all that.
I like that not only 9S was by far the most important character in story, Taro also shitted down the throats of waifufaggots by making two of them in love.
Assmadness in first Automata threads was delicious and progressively became more hilarious with side materials.
I'm still holding out for that Nier prequel where we play as Kaine's Grandma hunting down Red Eye during Desert Storm.
how old? because 50 isn't old.
>tfw you thought automata was gonna be a prequel
Grandma, Human Tyrann, Human Emil, and Grimoire Rubrum. Fuck me up, Taro.
Then Accord pops up halfway though, and it is now a sequel in a prequel like Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria.
Dark souls 3. It was fun the first time but now I do the same fucking thing every time and quit when I reach the undead settlement.
reading comprehension
>Human Tyrann, Human Emil, and Grimoire Rubrum
Wouldn't those be a series of fairly short and tragic disconnected stories?
No, the second playthrough is literally the same as the first but you play as 9S and have to do annoying hacking missions over and over.
Did you read the OP
It changes a lot of the game tho
I've always imagined it in Drama CD era, where Kali, Emil, and Tyrann have been confirmed to be caught in the same web and Rubrum is presumably locked up in the lab before it got turned into the manor.
I used cheat engine to reset my guy every time I got hit
>Rubrum is presumably locked up in the lab before it got turned into the manor.
I always wished that they had had time to elaborate on who she was in-game and what she was doing in Emil's mansion.
Reminder that Yoko Taro hype was started by a small cadre of autists wishing to validate their loss of life playing Drakengard for days on end
Not to mention that his type of 'emotional investment' means that characters suffer without any plot preparation or interwoven narrative, it's just thrown out there so someone with zero social skills can try sympathizing with another sociopath.
Rubrum was one of Weiss' comrades before he and a bunch of his other fellow soldiers got told to kill each other and then had their souls sealed into the grimoires. Noir is also part of that same group, all 3 of them were part of that test.
I always figured Emil's butler was half of an andriod pair (one was stone'd by Emil) and making sure Rubrum slept was in his job description as well.
There is a short story about her and the other two grimoires before they got book'd, but I too also wished for more in-game lore.
Said video is from the Rising Super Stream (dude who used to be in best friends)
it's up on his archives on YT
Why is he such a cutie Sup Forums?
That Liam guy?
Yeah, I always assumed Sebastian was a leftover android from the weapons project, and he took it upon himself to look after Emil when everything else went to Hell. Wish that we had gotten his own novella or two.
THE Liam guy.
Not really. Route A is like a 6/10
>multiple playthroughs
Unless you're talking about playing both scenarios of RE2, get a life or get a job.
Same. Makes me wonder if the petrified butler we see was an accident or self defense.
