>3x3 rating and backlog.

That's a bit too much, OP. Recommendations would be better in general, but I'll play along.

6/6 (P5, MGS2, Pokemon, Yakuza 5, T&T, BOTW)

Play Skies of Arcadia. It's my favourite game of all time and gives off a great feeling of adventure and companionship. Main character is also god tier.

I don't really have much of a backlog, but I'll post what I'm playing and play the most suggested next.

Yu-No
Persona 3
Outrun 2006
Doom 64
Suikoden 2

Eh, I thought it's a nice twist on these threads. I tried do recommendation ones years ago and then it just turns out to everyone recommending each other games they've already played.

6/7

How's the writing in Skies of Arcadia (aside from the MC you mentioned is god tier). Aside from Pokemon I pretty much only like JRPGs with GOAT writing.

I've only played P3 of those, and while it's not as good as 4 or 5 IMO, it's still a masterpiece.

The only game in my backlog is The Last Door point and click adventures.

Currently playing PUBG, Shadow of Mordor, Planescape, and Hollow Knight (yes I know it's on my 3x3, it's my first metroidvania and I had an open spot)

Backlog:
Bound by Flame
FFX/X-2 Remaster
Persona 5
Ori and the Blind Forest

4/4 Dark Souls, Pokemon, BOTW, Deus Ex. No idea what to recommend

9/9 Very nice, but I thought Yakuza 5 was among the weaker I played (4, 5, and 0, tbf)
Killer is Dead and VALLHALLA are both great, would recommend.
5/5 Pretty good too.
Persona 3, but I'm a Persona fanboy, so.
5/5 You liked RE7 *that* much? I thought it was fine, but I hardly remember it.
7/7
>Witcher 3
>Planescape
>Transistor
Absolutely top-tier taste, user.
Persona 5 and Ori are both superb, but if you really like Hollow Knight, you'll adore Ori.
Backlog:
Tyranny
Pyre
Prey
FF XIV (Heavensward content)
And Shadowrun: Dragonfall

2/2
+MGS2, DaS
Haven't played Persona 5 just yet. Making my way through Persona 3 now and nearing the end, and then I'll be moving onto Persona 4. Just feel like replaying them before going to P5.

3/3
+God Hand, FO:NV, MGS
I have Skies of Arcadia downloaded, but haven't really played it yet. Seems neat though.

5/5
+DaS, Super Meat Boy, SM64, MGSV, Hotline Miami
Haven't gotten around to putting time into Hollow Knight yet. Seems like a really neat game though, I like the art a lot.

5/6
+FO:NV, P4, MGS3, Deadly Premonition, Dragon's Dogma
-Bloodborne
Deadly Premonition is some good shit, my man. I should go back and finish it sometime, especially now that Swery has announced his new game.

Not gonna bother with the recommendations or backlog stuff, though. My backlog is way too large to cut down to just twenty-five, and in the case of recommending shit, I feel 3x3s aren't enough to totally be able to tell someone's tastes, so fuck it.

3/4 Witcher 3, F:NV, Bloodborne, didn't like DD
3/3 Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Persona 3

5/6

I wish my backlog was that small/

5/8

Hollow Knight is so damn good, Just finished it.
Persona 5 ASAP, literally the best JRPG ever. Also FFX is pretty great, idc what people say.

7/8

I don't get why 5 isn't considered GOAT like 2 and 0. I consider all three to be a masterpiece. I never finished 4 but I'll do it during my replays after I beat Kiwami. I couldn't get into the prologue for Vallhalla, is the main game much better?

I feel like KOTOR2 is gonna be an all timer for me considering how much I love the first one.

Only played a bit of Prey as far as your backlog goes, but I really love the level design a lot.

6/8

I really don't understand the love for Automata, the original is an all timer but I would have to say Automata is the biggest gaming disappointment for me in recent memory, maybe of all time.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

Quake 1
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

Go with Portrait of Ruin. Best of the DS Castlevanias.

It's only $25 New on Amazon with Free Shipping. There is 19 left in stock. Should I go for it?

>Automata is the biggest gaming disappointment for me in recent memory, maybe of all time
That's crazy to me. Automata is amazing. It managed to capture the feel of Nier perfectly, despite it being developed by CUHRAYZEE and not Cavia, it has a fantastic soundtrack that is not quite as good as the first game's, but it's still great, and it looks fantastic visually. It even outdid Nier's branch D thing with it's branch E thing.
I mean, I don't like it as much as Nier or Drakengard, but it's still a fantastic sequel.

This image is kinda outdated, replace COTM with DOOM 2016.

Backlog is very empty at the moment. Currently playing through Berserk and the Band of the Hawk.

i fucked up

Damn, I havent played shit. I wonder what am I missing.

To me, it just feels the most like a perfect mix between Metroidvania and Classicvania. My favorite Castlevania constantly flips between it and Chronicles, though.

1.5/3 +Bloodborne .5 for watch dogs (its really an alright game) -Payday 2

2.5/3 +REmake, Bloodborne .5 NieR: A

I always consider replacing Borderlands 2 with GTA 4 here but fuck it

Ya it does feel a lot like Classicvania. Respect.

pretty jap there,
From/Doom very interesting, no love for Doom 2 though? (3 is a guilty pleasure for me)

Damn, well I'll still check it out eventually, just not any time soon i guess. I do like the atmosphere a lot though.

No prob, I gotta get back on Prey soon.I have it queued up to play soon.

4/4

I hated the gameplay, it felt like knock off Platinum, a lot of it felt like damage sponges. I prefer the original's gameplay by a lot. The soundtrack felt like a retread of the original's except lacks anything to make it interesting or stand out which made me forget it instantly. The characters and story I felt were so poor in comparison to the original. There was no emotion for me at the end, no twist that made me go holy shit. When I finished it all I felt was, "that was it?"

I haven't played D1 but I played D3 and legitimately is one of the worst games I've ever played, bad in every aspect.

2/5

Really, Watch_Dogs and FF8? The levels for Berserk are so damn bad but the bosses are pretty solid. I ended up getting so bored I downloaded a save file just so I could do boss rush mode instead. Much more enjoyable experience.

1/3

vidya kino

4/8
>Platinum
>MGS4

how, why

7/7

Wow Section 8, forgot about that game.

FEAR is pretty solid, just finished that recently. Catherine is so goddamn hard but the writing is great. I beat it in one sitting the day I got it, went to bed at 7am.

My mistake with Catherine was choosing the higher difficulty. I wanted a challenging puzzler but GODDAMN MUSHY 360 DPAD. Die so much from pulling wrong blocks

I'm the Watch_Dogs user. The reason 8 is up there is definitely nostalgia, as it was my first RPG.

I can't pin down why I like Watch_Dogs so much. Sometimes I think I'm still in denial, like how a lot of people were over No Man's Sky turning out bad.

2/4
+Dead Rising, DMC4
-Bloodborne, Watch Dogs
Watch Dogs wasn't bad, I just found it sorta boring.

2/3
+Nier: Automata, REmake
-Bloodborne
Have yet to play Symphony of the Night. I beat the first Castlevania like a month ago because I was going to play through all of them, but I got distracted by something and that just ended up not happening.

4/7
+Terraria, Wind Waker, MGS4, FO:NV
-DaS3, Borderlands 2, Bloodborne
Don't really know how to feel about DaS3 actually. I've played it a billion times, I've put probably over three hundred hours into it, but eh.

4/4
+Isaac, Can't tell which Halo that is but if it's 1, 2, 3, or Reach then it's good, Super Meatboy, DaS
Yeah, my favorite games are very Jap.

Okay yeah, the gameplay isn't the best. It was a wee bit floaty. And while the soundtrack is a bit of a retread, it still has some amazing tracks in there, such as
youtu.be/0bJznex0eYQ
youtu.be/jjDO91gNiCU
And I thought the characters were done well for the most part. 9S and 2B, after you find out that she's actually 2E, were really interesting. Taro totally dropped the ball with A2 though. I mean, they don't definitely don't beat Nier, Kaine, or Emil, but they were still good, I feel. And as for the story, I won't lie, I was not entirely sure what in the fuck was going on.
I dunno, maybe it just helps that Nier's my favorite game of ever.

And I totally feel the same about Drakengard 3. It is probably one of the worst game's I've ever played, and it may just be the least fun I've ever had playing a game ever. Still played it to the end though. It at least got sorta alright in the final branch. Not gameplay-wise, of course, but story-wise.

I made one for Sup Forums, what do you guys think?

Resident Evil Remake
Demon's Souls
MGS
Nier

Uh, I don't have a backlog.
For recommendations Tales of the Abyss.

Replace Gothic with Bloodborne and it is Sup Forums approved.

Play Soulsbourne, the MGS series and Silent Hill 1-3 to never get less than a 2/2 again.

5/5 How good are you at skullgirls? Its one of the only fighters I own because I love the care that went into the frames. Is arcade stick a must?
Why that castlevania? Never seen that one mentioned
2/2 Did you actually get to experience phantasy star online Online?? Shit was so cash. Only thing the dreamcast had really goin for it
4/5 Why Mgs4? Its kind of the weakest one. Unless you like movies
perfect, but I feel thief 2 should go in somewhere
ni no kuni, Been wanting to play that, but no ps3. Worth a ps3 purchase?
(Just want to explore a cute and magical miyasaki world)

Ni no kuni is pretty good in my opinion but just either A wait for the second one, B maybe pc port bc of second one, or C emulate it.

>why MGS4

I have a whole long ass reason why but I cant be bothered to type it out and its not interesting anyway

>play second one
sheeeeit, will need a ps4
>maybe pc port
yeah ok, in like 5 years
>emulate
Havent found a ps3 emulator, have they finally cracked it?

1/2

ah, so personal reasons then

Second one is coming out for PC, yeah they cracked it. They're is a thread on here about it.

awful taste, god damn

2/4

I suck at it but I am better at it then the other fightin games I play. I use arcade stick for all my fighting games but a lot of people use pad for Skullgirls since they say it's easier to control movement. Use whatever control scheme you want.

>Did you actually get to experience phantasy star online Online?
Yep, on my 56k connection and it was a blast. I played it again later with Blue Burst on PC but my fondest memories are from the DC days.

rpcs3 is coming along very nicely, currently emulating Demon's Souls on it with few problems. Persona 5 is next. There's a list of games on the rpcs3 website that shows the current tested state of each game, since some games have more problems than others

3/6

>no love for Doom 2 though?

you cheeky cunt. I see it now

4/5

2/3

Currently playing through System Shock 2 and thinking of replacing WoW with it on the 3x3.

Backlog:
Pillars of Eternity
Dark Souls
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Thief: The Dark Project
Darkest Dungeon
DOOM (2016)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution

3/5

Trails in the Sky
Yakuza
Ace Combat 4
Shadow of Chernobyl
Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines
Ghost Trick
Mother 2

Out of all of those I would definitely say REmake is the most enjoyable but from your mosaic Demon's Souls would probably be a better fit.

I just finished System Shock 2 a week ago and it was great minus the last fifth or so of the game, what build are you going for?

I'm aware I may be jumping the gun on Sonic Mania but Christ I can't remember the last time a more consistently amazing platformer came out, potentially more than Shovel Knight. Good on ya Sonic.

Would you recommend Mania to someone who has only played 2 and 3 or is it better experienced by playing all the Sonic games?

3/3

Figured I'd just go for a no-psi soldier build. I'm on the 5th floor and I already have an AR with the stats to use it, as well as close to 100 shotgun slugs and a ton of grenades so I'm having a blast.

There's a lot of easter eggs and callbacks, but even if most of them go over your head I would wholeheartedly recommend it. It's a fucking fantastic platformer that I think outclasses even 3&K, which is no small feat.

0/2

Have you put any points into Exotic weaponry? The Crystal Shard with the upgraded melee is pretty fun to use since it's a one hit on most enemies.

You should also check out the two Thief games if you want another first person game with high player agency like System Shock, I played them both for the first time a few months ago and they're great. Thief II in particular was really good.

2/4

3/5

3/3
I recommend Gex 1 (DKC2) and Volgarr the Viking (Shovel Knight)

My current backlog is:
XCOM 2
Commandos 3: Destination Berlin
The Ultimate Doom
Starcraft Remastered
Rayman Origins

1/1

The writing is very charming to say the least, the main characters are really great and have good chemistry.

I'm not the best when it comes to describing writing and stories, but the writing is in no way awful, I'd say it's somewhat generic (Good guys fight bad guys to stop them from destroying the world) but all the characters and world make up for it. Plus the adventure you have is really great.

I'd give it a few hours and see if you like it, the encounter rate is awful though.

Ghost Trick 100%.

I was so hyped for Watch_Dogs too, what a let down.

Glad you agree with D3, sell me on D1.

6/7

7/8
All favs of mine besides REmake

3/6

What makes Abyss better than other Tales games?

I thought your team's AI made Ni no Kuni unplayable desu

3/5
SS2 is GOAT, DXHR and DaS are both GOAT, Doom is fuck as fuck. South Park is ok. Probably do DXHR first

6/8
Play Earthbound ASAP, Ghost Trick is also incredible. Start with Yakuza 2 and watch the recap, then play in release order.

6/9

I'm emulating it so at least I can turbo mode through encounters then, right? Or do I need to actually think?

>sell me on D1
You can murder children while playing as a pedophile.

Is there any reason I shouldn't start with Yakuza 1? It's the one I ordered, I just always assume release order.

Not that guy, but the combat in Yakuza 1 is pretty rough. Not terrible, but rough. That being said, you should still go through the games in release order as they were intended to be played.

It really fucking dated, and especially with Kiwami there's absolutely no reason to play it anymore. If you don't like it don't let it turn you off from the series. All the dub is REALLY bad.

That's not enough considering Yoko's gameplay

Yeah, no, the gameplay is terrible. But hey, you can play as a maniac that loves murder and kicking children in the head, a pedophile that really wishes he wasn't a pedophile but really wants to diddle little boys, a cannibal elf that loves eating children, and a shota.

>I'm emulating it so at least I can turbo mode through encounters then, right? Or do I need to actually think?

It depends what you emulate it on.

The Gamecube version has really shitty music but a lower encounter rate, whereas the Dreamcast version has a higher encounter rate by superior music.

You don't need to think in general battles, but you do in boss fights and ship fights.

Although I should add, there's a secret ranking that's affected by a lot of stuff, running from battles lowers it and it can stop you from getting the best weapons in the game.

I'm playing the GC version.
