now if only there were games to emulate

Dayum.

Meme'd on the first post

Waiting for high res support

Demons Souls in 4K soon lads

>but PS2 emulation is still N64 tier
really makes me think

It's gotten better, but yeah it's still shitty compared to Dolphin

...

PS2 emulation is hard because it has MIPS based processor and shit. No documents.

only poorfags want demon's souls emulation

real niggas want vesperia ps3

fpbp

95% of all N64 games are playable on emulator?

tales games FUCKING SUCK

yeah they do now.
vesperia was the last good one, hence the reason the jap only ps3 version got fan translated.

I have a maybe dumb question. Emulators tend to brute-force thier workload on a single thread of a CPU. is this because of the nature of emulation or is it because the coders who made the emulator are lazy/stuck in thier shitty ways?

Tales always blew dick.

they were always bad

i think the tales of series is at least in game if not playable now

So you're contempt with visual glitches up the ass?

it depends on the system being emulated, the game being played and the emulator itself.

Column A and Column B. Coders should really start looking to optimize for multicore, but at the same time emulation is mostly reverse-engineering with next to no documentation to work off of.

Only games I've played on PCSX2 with visual glitches out the ass were some PAL-only sports titles. Otherwise I could give less of a fuck since I'm getting to play stuff for free.

Is Persona 5 emulation good?

>need $2000 computer to get sub-ps3 performance

Really boils my eggs.

Nigga who cares.

IT'S BEEN 16 YEARS SINCE IT CAME OUT

WE'RE ON MUCH MORE POWERFUL HARDWARE NOW

THERE ARE NO EXCUSES ANYMORE

>NO EXCUSES ANYMORE
About damn time.
When's your PS2 emulator being released?

Everything is shitty compared to dolphin. Tell me one emulator that actually comes close to it

PPSSPP perhaps?

The only problem now is the caliber of computer needed to play is (cost wise) not worth it yet unless you already have a nice machine. You can at this point buy a PS3 at a garage sale or pawn shop for $40. Then install custom firmware and start filling up that HDD the games.

mame in terms of pure technical sophistication

The PS3 is an 8 core machine and RPCS3 uses Vulkan. It runs great on multicore CPUs.

youtube.com/watch?v=HwZTyhmFgJo

>Then install custom firmware
>implying the previous owners didn't update the OFW past the point of no return

There have been major strides in N64 emulator development with Mupen64Plus with the GLideN64 plugin and Vulcan now.

define playable

Why the fug does disabling core affinity improve performance if it's a great multi-core emulator

>launch Disgaea D2 months ago
>CPU hits 95c
>jesus christ
>download the newest version today
>launch D4
>CPU hits 99c
Emulation is a meme

RPCS3 devs are anti piracy and massive hypocrites.

It's just a quirk some games have. It's being worked on.

youtube.com/watch?v=WqkeGhlSV84&t=1s

They have to be anti-piracy otherwise Sony will send them a nice DMCA.

based Nekotekina and kd 11

...

>cpu utilization in the 20s-30s
>at least four threads doing just about nothing
>fps in the single digits
>'great' multicore performance

>Expecting a game that is barely in-game to utilize many cores and threads while giving a stable FPS.

I expected the opposite, which is why I've been saying it's multicore performance is bad.

>0% mad
nigga that's 0% anything

>Odin Sphere used to run pretty much perfect
>Now it doesnt get past the trophy screens

Fuuuuuck

This, the only things worth emulating are on the PC already.

>inb4naughtydogshit

>TFW too stupid to understand emulation
>TFW you'd only ever play one PS2 game anyway

RIP in peace Warship Gunner 1 and 2, you were some of the best PS2 games and I wasted at least 2k hours with you in my youth. I'll never forget you, but now you're apparently incredibly rare games.

>too stupid to understand emulation
>i.e. being scared of installing a program

pro-tip: if you have the actual discs you can just use those instead of an .iso

They're scratched to shit, unfortunately.

Is it able to play more games? Last I checked it out was like 1-2 months ago.

Im wondering this too. If it's gotten to an at least stable 30, because in populated areas, everyone was getting 17-20fps

Really hoping for a text translated version of this somewhere.

Oh shit. Any hints on where to look? I want to paly this translated. Loved the rushed out Xbox version we got.

Then just get the .iso off the internet, it's not that hard.

>in populated areas, everyone was getting 17-20fps
That's good enough in undisputed GOTY Breath of the Wild, why isn't it ok in Persona 5?

PM me and upvote this post and give me a like on myspace when GT5, GT6 and MGS4 is playable.

you mean this?
hyouta.com/vesperia/?version=ps3§ion=scenario-index

Because I really want to enjoy P5. I finished BotW on the WiiU already. The game audio has some stuttering, not on dialogue thankfully. The music stutters though.

I found a patched iso on nicoblog, so I may enjoy that.

>contempt

It's "content" you metacretin.

DraStic

whats wrong with it? works fine for me

Is cemu any good now or is it still just a botw machine? Havent played it yet because im waiting for all the issues to be ironed out.

but persona 5

I played Zelda on my Dusty WiiU, softmodded it.
I'm just waiting a year for Cemu to hopefully be Dolphin quality.

define "playable"

Are you serious? PCSX2 is a cobbled together emulator that relies on hacks and still has a shitload of glitches in nearly every game.

>hard numbers proving you wrong
>n-no

>because it has MIPS based processor and shit
Doesn't the N64 also? Damn.

I like it because it gives me the option of where to install everything. I hate how dolphin just throws a folder under documents. It cant be that hard to have a custom install button

Body Harvest still cannot be played without editing your position, since you clip through doors.

>hard numbers
>vague category like "playable"
I bet A Dog's Life is considered playable and it has major graphical issues unless you run it (and plenty of other titles) in software mode. You're like the faggots that used to say SNES games worked perfectly on PSP emulation despite the framedrops/slowdown many games had.

youtube.com/watch?v=NgJqRb-tn0E
I mean, it IS playable

>emulating PS3 games
Why? There's literally no point.
Emulation is only good for older gens that don't get achievements.
What's the point of playing a PS3 game if you can't get trophies?

>unless you run it in software mode
nice goal posts, damage control harder nigger

For a 15+ year old emulator, it sure sucks at accuracy. They need to open source it already, so someone with talent can do it right.

Son, you picked EXACTLY the thing that is documented about the PS2 and pointed it as being the undocumented thing.
PS2 is hard to emulate because it have several different CPUs running at the same time and they expect the real hardware timming which PCSX 2 don't exactly deliver.
This and the weirdass video chip and it's weirdass video chip modes and it's BRUTAL video bandwith.

Who the fuck has a DVD drive in 2017?

My goal posts are that pcsx2 has a lot of issues, most of them graphical and it's cobbled together. You're the one pointing at a graph that says "playable" and acting like it says "perfect." Playable just means it can be beaten. Software mode for most titles runs like garbage (and looks like garbage) even on very good CPUs.

I'm not acting like that though, but the perfect percentage is also higher than Dolphin's. Not my fault your PC is shit either.

>PS1 is also MIPS-based
Fuck

I've been playing Warship Gunner 2 on PCSX2 user, it's really fun. Just do some searching and you can find the ISO.

I didn't say a single thing about Dolphin. I made a statement about PCSX2 that is true and you apparently can't handle that. Oh boy, I have to have a high end processor to run a shitty software-mode version of Okage. [spoiler[By the way, "Perfect" isn't perfect in PCSX2. It just means no noticeable issues

With multi-core single CPU processing, the threads tick at the same instant every cycle, whereas a lot of the time with consoles, they're processing using multiple chips which will send their processed data to another chip which then processes it in turn. So in that way, you usually can't just set a thread to do the work of a certain chip or group of chips, and even if you can find ways to split the workload artificially, it's a real challenge to make it work with all games because how the runtime uses all the components being emulated is different with each program.

>Try to play TTYD on Dolphin
>Game can't display paper effects, they're just invisible
>Try updating to latest version and using OpenGL like the wiki states
>Still doesn't work despite wiki saying it should

Any help? Makes things much more difficult when it comes to timing my hits on an invisible enemy.

>the perfect percentage is also higher than Dolphin's
PCSX2 doesn't list any perfect percentage stats. You are outright talking out your ass now.

Yeah, and Dolphin is shit compared to Ishiiruka.

Metroid Prime Trilogy won't run on Dolphin at all for me but runs silky smooth on Ishiiruka, without me needing to change any settings.

How about you properly cool your hardware?

>try new version
>P5 runs even worse now

create an empty textfile called portable.ini in the dolphin folder next to the exectuable.
it will now store all settings inside the folder instead of your documents.
pretty much every emulator in existance has similar functionality.

Did you have the old version configured exactly the way you like it and then the new one reset everything back to default? That always gets me when I grab a new version of an emulator.

Do you prefer WSG 1 or 2?

Thanks man, i feel silly now.

What exactly needs to be overwritten when you update, just the exe? I've been overwriting everything except the save folder and control config file everytime. Not sure if I've been wasting time doing this.

>I've been overwriting
Why didn't you just make a second folder for the new version and copy any of the old version files you wanted into the new folder to let both versions able to run independently?

No you don't, and you know it, troll.

shit man I cant even run ps2 Ace Combat at constant 60,cant imagine the fps on ths

Because the save folder is huge and it would end up taking longer.
