Knuckles is very naive and he was fooled by Eggman into thinking Sonic was the bad guy who had come to steal the super emeralds. It wasn't until you see Eggman snatch it right in front of him that he realized he was tricked and became friends with Sonic.

I like him more than Sonic, but Sega shits on him. Getting tricked by Eggman one time was acceptable because he didn't know anybody involved prior. Sega made him an absolute dunce though considering he gets tricked like every fucking game. His gameplay post debut is meh as well, they could have done the collection concept in a way that felt way less annoying and had better levels.

There's a glitch in sonic boom when you play as knuckles. If you keep pausing mid-jump he continues moving upward. Keep pause-jumping and you can just go up forever.
