This is a bad followup to V

This is a bad followup to V.

You're right but I still had a good time. Kinda dragged on in the middle though. Those few hours after defeating Murdaw and you're just kinda wandering aimlessly was just meh.

Never played V but I definitely consider VI the best DQ I've played. Why is V better? I was under the impression your party and class setups were way less versatile in V.

It's still a good title, it just suffers because III, IV and V are all contenders for best JRPG of all time when the topic pops up.

DQ5 is Pokemon with the best story in the series by a wide margin.

It is, I do think it's a good game. It's just that V was really good. I hope VII is better.

I cared what was going on in V, I really wanted V's MC to succeed while I was playing it. I do like VI's class system, but I preferred how you could recruit monsters in V.

It's my favourite.
The dream world, and all its weird things like the flying bed, the huge holes in the overworld, it all made it feel very comfy, which I enjoyed. The OST is nice too, and the party chat was a bit better than V, though V had some lines of party chat that hit pretty deep. I can understand why most people would dislike it after playing something like DQV though.

So I guess VI sort of is better then unless you actually play DQ for the story. I always treated story in these games as bonus with the main focus being dungeons and the combat.

You're entitled to your opinion, even if you're wrong.

>The dream world, and all its weird things like the flying bed, the huge holes in the overworld

Yeah, these were really good. The flying bed made me laugh so hard.

I also enjoyed IX but dropped VIII because it was boring and the battle animations were too long.

I loved the dream world concept and how it affected the real world.

I knew something was up the moment these guys showed up instead of the regular slimes. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I'm sure it was an intentional hint that things weren't quite right in the world.

It's a tough act to follow. But I admit 6 is the only one out of the first 8 I've never completed, that is mostly due to the shit buggy translation patch for the SNES version though.

That's a sorta unfair comparison, it was still a great game.

Yeah, the turbo button on 3DS is a giant boon.

They're all bad followups to the Stardust Crusaders of DQ: III

I actually like it more than 5

I agree with you. It was the worst from the Snes era in my opinion. Don't know if the remake was any different. It was long, yeah, but not memorable. Honestly, I know I finished it, but outside of the three characters (the big guy, the priestess and the main character) I only sort of remember the guy on the left and the other woman and I don't remember a single fuck out of the little guy with the morning star thing.

The other woman is your dead waifu and the guy was the actual priest. The girl you thought to be a priestess was a dancer.

Pretty much. I played it after playing the first five games almost back to back, so I thought I might have been suffering from Dragon Quest burnout, but I had fun with VII and VIII which I played shortly afterword, so I guess it was just VI.

VIII's story and characters are grossly overrated and nothing else about it is special besides the gorgeous world map.

I also prefer IX, solely for the gameplay which is a vast improvement on VIII's point system which wasn't thought out at all.

But to be honest, I can understand why you would think Dragon Quest isn't a series that should be played for their stories, but can also tell you that V is the exception.

Of course somewhere in this conversation I missed to point out that there's actually a lot of customization in team building with monsters that puts it on a high mechanical level with other titles in the series focusing on gameplay, but DQV's story really is on a completely different level than anything else in the series.

Why aren't the kids' hair blue?

Because the artist had bad_taste.

>TFW when I found out the daughter's name in the English version is Madchen

I really don't know what Plus Alpha were thinking when they came up with some of the names they did.

You mean black, the dominant and objectively, best colour and choice.

Honestly, I was one of the rare people that really, really liked VII. It was depressing, it was funny, it was overly long but never overstayed it's welcome to me, I dug the characters and found the inclusion of the "epic hero" of all time to be a decrepit old man a stroke of genius.

Yeah it was really dumb. I changed it to Madison, Parry was also dumb so I changed it to Max. Then I realized I named my kids after Mad Max.

I'll forever wonder what would've happened if Chrono Trigger had been Dragon Quest VI.

The series would've have been so revered.

>The series would've have been so revered.
You mean in the west, where it still enjoys a decent following. In Japan DQ is quite literally the golden standard of JRPGs.

Because of culture though. Big difference.

That reminds me, it's time to play DQ5. Got halfway through before losing my Acekard.

Has anyone played the SNES version?

is Dragon Warrior III as good as I remember? Seems like everything after that has been boring retreads.

Imo nothing will top V

III is still solid

>Has anyone played the SNES version?
But of course, it is the only version.

it's good. I don't know if it's true, but some user made a thread not too long ago saying Japan votes DQ3 as its number 1 favorite game.

Apart from DS, PS2, and mobile.

I think that's just based off the old Famitsu polls. FFX is there too.

Yes, apart from those different games with the same title.

Are you okay user? Do you want to talk about it?

How people can actually like 8's story past kicking Dhoulmagus' ass is a mystery, it's downright absurd how goddamn incompetent the party is at keeping Rhapthorne from murdering all the sages

DQ3 is the best__ game in the series.

Because super is garbage.

I got DQ4 and 5 for DS, what am I in for? Will start soon, in chronological order.

Lighthearted series with nice monster designs. The design of the world is consistent, instead of series that introduce new worlds per game (like FF).

Four is pretty cool and has a neat way of storytelling.
5 is maximum suffering.
Only downside to the ds version of IV is that they removed party chat for some reason which basically means your party will be mute except for maybe one line when they join you.

Exploration, simple yet fun systems, a sense of adventure, and very liberal localizations and puns in the English versions.

DQ4 - Torneko being a boss, excellent chapter system, funny talk and overall a really good time.

DQ5 - silly looking characters that make the actual storyline that much more darker and depressing for the most part and since you have the DS version, you have an option for the superiour wife.

Who is the top tier wife?

>TFW played the PS2 version, so I didn't get Deborah

I'll have to play the DS version next.

Nera.

Deborah is shit and there's no actual reason to get with her. Betafags can fuck off, your opinion isn't needed.

I was quite sad that there's no brown wife. The twins in 4 were really my kind of crack.

It goes Deborah > Bianca > Nera.
Deborah is a riot to have around and has the best stats of the three.
Bianca has a hick accent and won't shut up about that one time you went to the spooky castle with her as a kid, but she's cute.
The game tries to make you feel bad for picking Nera. She's spoken for, for one thing, and aside from that she's just bland.

>thinking of committing miscegenation when your son is destined to be the hero

It's the one true answer to world peace

Through dick, peace.

Yes, thank you for clarifying that.

>these sluts gave me a futa fetish when I was a teenager
>didn't knew where they were from
>speaking with my friend last week about DQ last week
>he tells me that the only thing he know about DQ is the twin dancers
>one girl and one dude who dress like woman

Huh. I almost aked why he though that.

>tfw DQH2 grind is way fucking shittier than DQH1

>Japan votes DQ3 as its number 1 favorite game.
Rightfully so.

>Beta
Not seeing the fact that it takes a real man to make a woman like Deborah yours, and she actually shows it the more you show her you are anything but a beta.

But there hair is black

Debora
Never let anyone tell you otherwise.

t. A guy who played the SNES version twice with Flora&Bianca both and played the DS version at least up to the Children being born for all 3 wives. When you start having fun with what she says in her party chat she soars above the rest so easy and her gaudy design rubs off on your dick super quick.

Deborah is the one and only true waifu.
It is the lionhearted man's choice.

desu vii is basicly vi but better in more or less everyway (which isn't to say vi isn't also good just that they took the segemented progression see your actions take affect from one world to the next and did it better in vii)

after I and II, and X as I haven't played it, VIII is the next weakest in the series

Is there a more useless character?

ashlynn

Sup Forums should i play 4 before 5? or just follow the normal order 4-5-6 like usual

release order is always the way to play

4 have the best party members, 5 the best story.
6 I haven't played.

I still have an opinion, not just a very valid one
