Why is so easy to make huge backlogs

Why is so easy to make huge backlogs.
This is just the PSP games i am yet to play.

You dont want to see my PC/3ds/ds/PS2/PS1/PS3/WII/GC backlog.

Ironically i beat neatly every good game worth plying on modern consoles and PC.

I am acualy almost kinda glad AAA game releases have slowed down a bit.

I switched to Linux in part to help me get rid of my backlog and focus on a smaller number of games.
Now there's thousands of games on Linux, and my backlog just of Linux games just keeps growing.
Not even talking about Indie games either. Deus Ex MD, Hitman, Mad Max, I keep putting them off playing KSP and Stellaris.

That's not even including emulation, and I don't even bother with Wine anymore.

How stable is this emulator?
Do I need a particularly good CPU or will a decent one let me play most games?

PPSSPP is pretty fucking stable, any thing from this decade should be able to run it without any problems.

Oh that's cool, i'll give it a try then. I kind of forgot this emulator even existed.

>Be a kid
>Lucky to get two games a month
>Play the shit out of them

>Be an adult
>Entire libraries at your finger tips
>Play nothing but what you grew up with

Know that feel

It's the doom of emulators, it runs on anything.

Serious questions, all my friends have huge backlogs, and a lot of people online do, while I don't even have a backlog. How come you get them?

Explain how you don't have one, then

Basically, I see a gsme I want to play, I play it. I sometimes do have to play 2 games in paralel, but other than that not really much to say, also, note, I only play at max 3 hours a day, maybe more hours on the weekends

Exactly. Most people here doesn't have those sense of self-restraint. Most of them play games more than 5 hours a day and has access for many games, so it's easier to get a burnout.

I know because I did this too.

a Backlog can be games you have yet to play, but plan to eventually. I also only play 1-3 games at once before starting a new one.

Emulator games don't count as backlog, only purchased games. I'd say shit like humble bundle throwaways or steam sale impulse buys barely count either, because nobody ever plays them.

For the record, my backlog is 150 games right now.

I know what a backlog is, I was just wondering how people get them.

...

why the fuck do people have "backlogs" like gaming is a fucking job, you just play what you want... why have OCD to the extent you dedicate 10+hrs of your life to wipe something off a list to say you completed a game and maybe remember a handful of pieces of it

throw your backlog out and make a to do or to learn list and do something more involved and useful, then assign some down time and just play what you feel like during that

no one screams autist louder than some autist with a "backlog" of entertainment

Yeah, at least with emulators you don't feel like you've wasted money even if you don't play the games you wanted to.

Ok, honest question, do you guys honestly buy games in the dozens? I mean, I am all for buying games you think you may like, but at most I bought 3 games at once, is self restraint that hard?he says as he is going to buy mario rabbids day 1

Have you played Morrowind and Oblivion, the Disgaea series and the Dragon Quest series? No? There now you have a backlog that will take a long as time to beat as more good games come to your attention.

I did play Oblivion(recently) but I played it in paralel with BotW, currently waiting for skywind. I see your point, but play more games in paralel, is it thar hard?

I rarely buy games, so that's one of the factors why my backlog is getting pile up even more. I pirate which means money isn't an issue. Also, assuming that most Sup Forums are pc gaymers, we haven't accounting the games from emulators.

Is xBRZ better or hybrid + bicubic?

Makes sense, I don't pirate gsmes other than to "beta test" them for like 3 hours to see if I should buy the game or not

If the game is worth all my attention and spending time then I wont play other games until I finish it but if it's like 6/10 then yeah i'll start another game as well.

Seeing how unless you play 3 hours of each of those 3 games a day (9 hours a day) it would still take over a month to get to the next set of 3. Yes, your made up solution would be hard to use in the real world.

But then have some more self restraint with what u pirate and emulate, I know it's easier said than done, but come on, you know you will probably only enjoy 10-15% of the games in your bavklog(do replaying games for nostalgia count)

I played a lot of great games(for me anyway) in paralel, it's not hard to have distributive attention from all those years of video gaming

You misunderstood, I only play a total of 3 hours a day, and I alternate between games

So then your proposed solution is even more useless at trying to complete a backlog of those games as now it would take you a full year to complete about half the list.

Question, how little do you get done in a 3 hour session of playing video games?

Question, can you read the titles of the games I posted? If so how have you never heard of them and realize how long they are?

I did read them, and oblivion took me around 120 hours to finish and explore, so no more than 40 days

>unironically playing weebtrash

oh wait, I forgot to mention, I don't 100% games like oblivion and the like, it feels like a chore after a while, so when I get bored with it, I go to the next game.

because games fucking suck and i ahte my life, dude

I do trying to reduce by backlog syndrome, by downloading game less, uninstalling games I don't play anymore, and sticking to one game only at a time

>lol how do you have a backlog just don't play the full game
k

if it's games the size of oblivion I meant, where after a while things get boring and you start seeing playing the game like a chore.

>lol just stop liking games and not play them
k

ok, maybe I am the odd one here, but did you seriously not get bored after a while of oblivion? just asking cause if yes, I can see why people have backlogs then

>tfw my backlog is full of JRPGs
Send help

I'm on my way.

Have a bit of restraint

>Got a new PC started out with a much smaller 500GB of space
>Start downloading some games, quickly run out of space
>I start needing to beat video games and justify uninstalling them in order to buy more/download more
>This is the best work I've done on my backlog in ages
>Mfw I'm just keeping it like that for the time being

It's fine but I have had it crash on me several times.

while i slowly look at my 400 games on steam and realize i played like 10 of them.

If you have been gaming for a long time, i don't know how you can have a backlog. Gaming has the least worthwhile stuff to actually play compared to any other media. Mostly due to it's short history.

Is it autistic to force yourself to beat a shitty game?
a Week ago I managed to finish BF Hardline campaign mode and it was the worst pile of shit I had played this year so far, but I was like "m-muh satisfaction/origin achievement points"
God, it sucks ass feeling the need to beat a mediocre game.

Mediocre games are still good, so finishing them is ok, to finish bad games, yeah, don't know about autism, but you may be a masochist.

I do stop plying games if i dont enjoy them in the first few hours especially if its a longer game.

But when you literally like most genres be it Little girl simulators like Atelier games or Acual JRPGs like Radiant Historia or SMT games or SaGa or or WRPGs like Infinity engine games or the newer games like Pillars or Original sin or even AAA RPgs like DA or ME or Games like Bayo or Ninja gaiden or even shooters like titanfall or doom.

Its kinda hard to not have a backlog.

Lets face while there are a lot of trash games out there there are also a ton of good games.

Look at my OP out of all of those games can you name 5 that are truly bad.

I consider Nier Automata mediocre and it's really boring me on my second playthrough.
I'm still trying to finish it because I know it isn't objectively bad, but it's gonna take some time.

Yeah I also have a ton of games I need to play, but at the same time it feels unsatisfying to not finish a game if it's like a 6 or 7/10.
I feel the need to move on to the next game but at the same time it feels like I shouldn't just drop this one either.

Dumb frogposter

As is stated i only realy droop games that i specifically dont like.
Even if the general consensus is that they are a 6 or 7 out of 10 games.

One example of this is that i just didn't enjoy Shadow of morodor all that much past the first Area and half of the second one.
So i watched the last 1/3 of the games story summary on YouTube.
Or another example is Far cry 4 i loved the shit oit of Far cry 3 but 4 felt like literally the same game all over again so again i just watched the story for 4 on YouTube.
Ironically i enjoyed Primal but i did skip most of the side quests and used cheats to fully upgrade myself at 50% of the games completion so i dont have to do side quests.

I also occasionally use cheats when i just want to finish's a game.

Like in booth persona 3 and 4 i used a no encounter cheat near the end of the game just to skip all the fights and fight the final boss and see the ending.

Iv even bean known to do strange stuff like start Tales games using another persons save so i can set Skill and XP gain in the grade shop to X2 so i can reduce the amount of fights il have to be in (I still play the game on hard difficulty.)

Not that user you're replying to but Brave Story, Exyz Force and the Medievil remake are all horrible, the LoH games are mediocre at best and so is Shining Ark, Knights in the Nightmare is also pretty terrible once you go beyond the novelty of that pseudo SHMUP system, the port itself is pretty great though compared to the DS game.
Badman is a the only legit amazing game in that list, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it, Cladun is also good but you'd be better off with the Steam version.
I have to ask though, why Seventh Dragon 2020 but not 2020 II?

I cant read Japanese.
Only understand the spoken word a bit.
And 2020 II is not yet fan translated and its not voiced ether.

Only reason why i have shining ark on there is because it works whit machine translator and i love how it went back to having all kinds of races as playable characters like in the original shining games.

Not OP but there's a 2020 II? does it have an english translation?

>And 2020 II is not yet fan translated and its not voiced ether.
They made a translation for 2020?
Hope it's not too terrible, shame you won't play II because it's a lot better than the first one, still, you need to play 2020 first to understand the story since it's a direct sequel with many unexplained plot points tied to the first game.
>and i love how it went back to having all kinds of races as playable characters like in the original shining games.
That's been a thing since Shining Blade I think, I'm a bit rusty on that series, it's a pretty mediocre game anyway, even Hearts is, the change to a pseudo Valkyria Chronicles system doesn't help either, especially since it's also a watered down version of VC's system.
Yep, but it's untranslated.

When will you people decide to learn Runes? The PSP is a treasure trove of great JP only games, and even localized games like Badman are much better in japanese since they're almost completely rewritten and you miss tons of references and jokes.

If i wasn't learning C# and C++ and learning Unity and Unreal trying to find a job id probably learn Japanese.
Lerning how to speak it is not an issue i already know a lot of the spoken language but learning how to read it is just cancer considering its letter have there own logic and for instance Ka Ki Ku Ke Ko despite being the same family of letter look nothing like one another.
And they also lack punctuation signs so they resort to using Kanji as a replacement for semicolons or spaces.

I've made a backlog tracker to restrain myself with buying new stuff and if I don't have any specific longing for particular genre or games, I try to clear those that are shortest.

Fucking summer i swear...

>Mfw my backlog is so large i can't even count them anymore
>Mfw I'm growing up from videogames but i autistically playing only the one of my childhood

I used to have that mindset until I was playing Fallout 4 one day, I was 20 hours in and really just not enjoying it anymore and I just said fuck it, my time is more valuable than this, and I stopped. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses even though you may view it as a waste of money

Anons like you give me hope.

If you have the time, you should play both good and bad games. They usually show something of worth.

>playing games ironically
fucking moron

>emulating PSP games
>not playing your CFW PSP on the go, the way it was meant to be

Anyway, my backlog is probably less than 200 games. But that's just games that I own that I have to play. I don't really even think about games I don't own any sort of copy of.

Hope as in not everyone in the world has shit taste.
or
Hope as in i am glad i am not as big a no life gamer nerd as you.

>not playing your CFW PSP on the go
>on the go
I'm not an urbancuck or a child, I dont play games "on the go"

I have a 3ds for that.
I used to play the PSP on the go But my dad destroyed it unintentionally over a long period of time till the things analog stick didn't work anymore and half of its screen stooped working.
Now he has a tablet and i put a bunch of emulators on it but he managed to break it 3 times so far.
He also destroyed my DS i had to replace its motherboard luckily my friend had a broken one so i got a replacement motherboard for cheap. In the end i sold my ds to a fredn when i got my 3ds.
I am not letting my dad even touch my 3ds and he was acualy beginning me for it a few times.

I see it this way...

Every game i own is part of my instant collection and every game out there that i did not play is undiscovered land.

I'm just exited to know that there is always more stuff to come.

Underage go

I am just glad game releases have finally slowed down.
At this rate i might even finish my backlog before i die of old age.

Althou to be fair i have yet to play Witcher 3 Divinity Original Sin Trany and all of the pick related - the fighting games i just play from time to time and are not on my backlog.
But i finished everything else in the same genre from recent years.
Be it Pillars or Shadowrun games or Dragon age Inquisition or even Fallout 4.

Pick related + the 3 above mentioned games are the only things left on my backlog from recent years.

>concentrate on one game at a time without wasting thoughts on other games
>suddenly there is no problem
Wew, that was hard.

Im 32
My dad is 58 years old.

He started playing games ever sense i got my Nes and then a Genessis. He used to play the shit out of Urban/Jungle/Desert strike on the genesis.

But then he got in to RTS on PC his favorite game is probably Total annihilation.

Why do you imply i dont do this.
I never play more than 2 game at the same time and even this is rare and only if the games are completely different genres.

Like plying bayonetta 2 and Pillars of eternity at the same time.

I cleared out most of my backlog. I only play on pc so I just uninstalled most games instead of having 50 Pirated games and 100 steam games. When I have that much installed it just puts me off.

Now I just play whatever I feel like playing, fuck backlogs and tired gamer syndrome

>Why do you imply i dont do this.
Because you have a backlog.

Maye if most modern games wharent kinda meh id agree whit you.

But the issue is that there are a lot of games and you dont have time to play them all.
Backlogs are exactly what happens when you concentrate on one game at a time.
And try to finish most of them.

When I see your opening post picture and the games on them I can see how you have it all backwards. I can see what you are trying to say, a list of games with titles you all want to play and having it handy will make it easier to pick a game you definitely want to play. The plan is all screwed though because your filter is broken and you add anything to your backlog that remotely interests you.

Now the realistic scenario. You have finished a game and you think about the next thing to play. It's very likely that one game or even a few more games pop up in your mind where you can still have a selection. Your subconscious already decided for you what to play, there was never a need for a list with poorly handpicked titles.

When I see tons of JRPGs in backlogs I know the person who created the backlog went full retard. With that genre where thousands of games exist you carefully pick the cream of the crop and play it when you finally feel the motivation and interest to tackle the next big JRPG game.

Because you have a life and can't dedicate 100% of your time to playing video games. Unless you're the most privileged NEET in the world, you probably have at least a dozen games you've started and dropped for one reason or another

My PSP backlog has always been the biggest out of all of them, although I'm down to just a few backlogged games right now.

>Demon Gaze
>Demon's Souls
>Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
>Pikmin
>The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

Same. I'll never be able to complete it at this rate.
It feels really refreshing playing a game of a different genre that's only like, 10 hours long.

Huh, that's pretty neat, especially the counter on the right.
Also I didn't know Heroes of Ruin was that short, I might need to bump it up in priority.

>get steam account
>there's nothing to play on that platform
It doesn't even have operation genesis, or warhammer mark of chaos. What gives?
