>Sims 4 runs better!
No fucking shit, it loads 1 tiny ass lot at a time and uses 2d backdrops. Even 2 generated a 3d background.
Where did everything go so wrong?

Here's a hot take
The Sims peaked with Bustin' Out on Xbox
Sims 3 is the best. Granted I never used any expansions or mods and apparently that is when the performance really starts falling apart
>tfw I would get scared as a kid when reading a message like that
Also got really scared when any burgler would try to rob me. The music was just too dramatic.
This call used to scare the shit out of me as a kid.
Story progression is usually what stacks up and causes problems over time. The Nraas mod is even worse unless you tune it right. Using Master Controller, Error Trap and Overwatch with story progression off is enough to run the game smoothly with everything installed on any half decent comp these days though.
S-sims 5 will be better, you'll see
They're coming soon. Maybe you should think twice about opening the door.
I mean 4 was meant to be an online game. don't be harsh on it they are working using a turd like engine. I'm sure that 5 will be open world with 2's details
I wish I could believe this. Sims 3 was the best for sex mods, and 4 doesn't get me to cum as hard. I just want to fuck my mom with models that don't look like potatoes.
But "The Sims 4 runs better!" is weirdly a good argument compared to how The Sims 3 runs. Dear god. There is just no winning.
The Sims 3 runs so poorly, I would actually prefer playing The Sims 4, a game that people consider not as good, because it runs better than The Sims 3.
WW is actually shaping up to be better than KW. The KW dev spends all his time on this stupid brothel stuff instead of implementing more of whats already sort of in there, like the sub/dom thing. WW is still getting setup but I won't be surprised that it surpasses everything KW does, with better animations, in a few months.
woah nice sweat
Honestly, I know it would have been ALWAYS ONLINE garbage with super dumb and forced online, but I am actually curious what EA would have done with an "Online Sims" idea. Tacking on multiplayer doesn't always make a game fun, but Sims with multiplayer would be cool with friends or even if it was like an MMO thing?
>Sims Online
It's literally dead, Jim and wasn't very good, though it fascinated me.
I have no problem running 3, maybe get a less shitty computer.
Turn off story progression.
>sex mods
really? there are literally thousands of games with VR and charterer customization, and you want doll house simulator?
4 is running better because there is literally nothing to fucking do except to breed. 3 is running well on my shit toaster with Nraas and fps limiter.
no need to even pay. fps limiter and nraas are magic
No it was not too dramatic. The goal of the Sims is to live a good life and prosper. Right now some watchcap-wearing bitch is making off with your hard-earned plasma TV and flamingo lawn ornaments. This is a fucking crisis state and you need to be scared. The burglar music was the appropriate amount of dramatic.
The problem is I can't find a fully updates sims 3 with all the dlc's anywhere
Sims 4 has such better models and technically it's a lot better than 3. It just lacks in content and compared to 3 it has no soul. The open neighbourhoods, the vast number of different ones, the holiday, pets, life-states, city, university and so on. It's drowning in content and things to do.
Give me Sims 3 on the Sims 4 engine.
>tfw that faggot stole my bathtub
g4tw or mr dj
this is what i've been trying to say. but unfortunately the engine is retarded and doesn't allow anything.
>games four theworld.org/downloads/
replace spaces and four with a number
>g4tw
Thanks, i found it
alright now delet that before a mod sees
So true..
and enable Nraas' progression
I know that gif. I sure as hell ain't clicking that
Aww man I forgot about this
Sims 3 was a massive resource hog.
You have to find some middle ground between freedom and runability.
I like the sims 3
...
not checking the file extension was a mistake
Nraas SP is actually worse because its a lot more detailed. Unless you change the default settings, you'll end up with shit tons of sims in your neighborhood that the engine just can't handle. If you run his SP mod at all, disable immigration completely and set the speed to lowest. Even the lowest setting is pretty fast if you watch the notifications.
After all these years I still fall for this.
>tfw you'll never get a good showtime expansion for 4.
actually it seems kinda probable
Overwatch was made to act as a regulator for SP. there is literally no reason to not use it
...
>into the trash it goes.png
atleast you got a bonehilda to cover up for you
I never suggested not running Overwatch, I even suggested it earlier. Nrass Story Progression mod is the one I'm suggesting not to run, or if you do, pay close attention to certain settings, because story progression is usually what adds up over time and causes lag for people.
Busting out was very fun. I loved the progression and the themed houses. The lab house was awesome, it made me want a house like that.
>Sims 3
How do you fuck up performance like that?
was it intentional?
well in that case you're right. In my opinion Twallan should have done an anti newfag kill switch which activates if someone doesn't read the tutorial like Pescado did.
How would I go about disabling immigration, set everything here to false?
Great, now I want to reinstall 3 and start a plantsim sex slave farm thanks a lot Sup Forums
>tfw no game will ever be as fun as The Sims 1
Probably because of how young we were, how new it was, and all the stuff we could do.
And its not replayable, after getting used to the freedom, specially in cameras and growing, you cant go back to 1.
Sims 2 is a close second though.
EA was too ambitious and tried to make something that doesn't work on past machines, now even a toaster could run it. The whole performance thing is now a meme used by sims 4 players.
Literally read the faq. they have a section specifically about it. but no you might break something. But i don't think it's in this menu though
sims 2 is nostalgia and detail, 3 is gameplay, and 1 if you have a frog as a computer
>Plantsims return on Sims 4
>"Just temporary lol"
>New expansions don't even bother including creatures.
Its like an old tradition dying, its sad. Sims 3 made sure to include a new creature with each expansion, and so did 2.
2 > 3 > 1 > 4
Its not even in any material I've read, its just what I've realized by playing. I keep rotating saves but I made a save and kept it on my desktop for a week and then installed Nrass SP and played it for a whole week, the only change to the settings I made was turning the speed down to lowest. I enabled the 'tagger' mod to show all sims, I couldn't believe how big my neighborhood got. Like 4x the sims the neighborhood started with.
Its a good mod because of how many details it can take care of, but the engine can't handle its default settings over time, its just to many sims, to much data which leads to long loading times and lag even on high end machines.
>How would I go about disabling immigration
Build a wall.
If the mods really believe there's someone as new as you here they might delet you.
It's a shame because the rpg-like mechanics they introduced with vampires seems like a neat idea (although I haven't tried it). Can't say it's surprising since so many people cried about Supernatural being unrealistic.
>Immigration is governed by the "NRaas \ Story Progression \ General Options \ Options: Lots \ Options: Immigration/Emigration \ Immigration Gauge" option, which by default is set to "0" (meaning no immigration).
1 = 2 >> 3 = 4
>play sims 2,
>Runs better and plays better
How the fuck did I fall for this man
Yeah there was an issue as some of the people playing the game wanted it to be "realistic", hence why the lifestates were never the main focus and just something extra for fun you sim could be.
Supernatural truly pushed the bar, although I personally loved the expansion, it wasnt gonna be everyone's cup of tea, and people would constantly get annoyed because now their neighbourhood was filled with supernatural creatures and zombies annoying all the time. So I guess EA decided to go full NO MORE CREATURES.
Maybe we'll get an expansion just for creatures again to make it up, but I highly doubt it.
It's a shame because on the sims 2, the creature's interactions, specially with witches, was so great, and again, it was never the main focus or something advertised a lot, but they did work hard on making the creatures fun for those who liked them.
Sims 4 is only good for sex mods
really now?
>when the first open world games you've played as a kid were the best thing ever, so large and expansive
>when you come back to them, they're small and not really detailed, even if they're somewhat fun
>tfw nobody will make an open world game with today's possibilities that wouldn't be an empty dead map with fetch quests
>I'm too afraid to try and come back to Sonic Adventure, knowing it's actually a piece of shit
I've only played Bustin' Out & The Urbz on gba, Sims 2 on psp, and Sims 2 on Xbox. Personally Sims 2 on psp was my favorite because you could be a landlord after performing an exorcism on some ghost that died there.
Urbz is unironically one of the best Sims games.
Is The Sims 4 even worth it? I quite enjoyed Sims 3 but got boring fast without any expansions
SA1 is the last decent Sonic game with Mania possibly being the exception.
...
this was before shadows were invented it seems
It has less features and offers nothing new where 3 offered the ability to be anywhere in town at once, like others have mentioned 3s only problem is mod support.
Shadows are weird with 3. The close ones only work to a certain distance, yet theres shadows for actual distant objects.
3 had a supernatural population limiting option. you could even disable occults completely without mods
Disabling shadows actually helps with running the game
People still bitched.
Is sims 4 worth it? I haven't played sims 3 in years!
I mean people usually bitched because they didn't have what they wanted in neon signs
It's worth it, but since you played 3 it's going to be a disappointment to you
Depends why you like the Sims, but other than running better, it's a step down.
The distant objects probably use a baked map, maybe even created in-game (unlike what 'baked' traditionally means - in the game files themselves) and then left alone. Closer objects have some kind of dynamic shadows, of which there are many different types that I'm not knowledgeable in.
The distant shadows are cheap on performance, but can't be used for moving objects. It would also be illogical to cut them off at a distance. The close shadows are dynamic and expensive to compute, but work for moving objects. It makes sense to cut them off.
A clever idea, even if the actual execution doesn't look as good. Does the game have pretty bad performance even today? I heard it's still not very well optimised, but I haven't played any Sims games, so...
With the right mods and Overwatch, it can run pretty decently on even a toaster by toaster i mean my shitty laptop with all expansions. I still hate EA for ditching the game with no reason other than to save money. Still waiting for an open source remake of sims 3.
Just boot up the sims 3 again, more features and still looks good.
4 is the first game in the mainline series to not add some big game changing feature like the past 3 installments.
I like to think of 4 as a spin off instead of a mainline since the devs didn't even mean to make it one.
Anyone remembers Sup Forums plays sims? Gaben was able to shift his body into his true, muscular form.
