Behold, creative bankruptcy.

dota killed valve.

And you faggots will buy it anyways.

valve killed themselves with their secret club circlejerk

Up until now, all of Valve's in game microtransactions have been cosmetic or secondary upgrades.

Imagine how it's going to be when the name of the entire genre is to have better cards than your opponent. Pay to win.

I’ll play it

I'm looking forward to it.

>play dota for years
>valve announce dota 2
>shit comes out
>play it for years
>TI7 comes around
>they announce artifact
>always wanted to play one of those card games but never found one that hooked me in
>most likely gonna play this
>on top of it all I get to enjoy peope being BUTT FUCKING BLASTED by the announcement

The best thing is that the game is gonna be free

What the fuck is wrong with this other than "ITS NOT HL3"?

>the game is gonna be free
prove it

Dota 2 was the second valve game that became free-to-play after Team Fortress 2, so it's likely that the economic model of Artifact might change if it is released in beta testing, followed by an official release, or maybe a few years after its release (like TF2)

its not a new game that isnt a spin off

>A digital trading card game where you can actually trade cards with other players through Steam Community

already 100x better than Heartstone, Magic, and other card jew games.

If there's no paywall in Dota2 and I have go deal with all types of retarded shitters because of it, but they do end up putting a paywall on a fucking casual card game I'll be pissed.

They already proved that a f2p model with cosmetics rakes in gorillion dollars every year, why do you think they linked a card game directly to the f2p game that makes them the most money.
If they put a price to it I'd be fine with it too, tho I don't know how much they would charge for it,

This. How can other card games compete?

People are mad that valve finally come out of the dark after about 5 years of not even announcing games they are working on so that they can announce hearthstone with Dota characters
Virtual Card games are not complicated in the slightest, you could probably run one without a GPU and just using a CPU, also Artifact was never shown to be a card game, even the teaser didn't hint at it in the slightest so people where pissed when they were actually excited for a possible new ip from valve. People just see it as valve being lazy

What if its a card game like Hand of Fate is a card game?

Except hearthstone and the like are superior to trading. All cards of the same rarity are equal in cost so you can basically exchange your unplayable garbage tier legendaries/epics for top tier ones. This will literally never happen when trading with actual people is involved. And you don't need to pay tens or hundreds of bucks for one good card.

>will buy it anyways

>Buying a f2p game.

microtransactions, idiot.

>will buy it
>it

Idiot.

>will buy microtransactions anyways, idiot

I am unironically, actually, literally excited for that.

microtransaCTIons, idiots.

...

How do you want your anniversary, senpai

>superior to trading

HAHAHAHAHHA
BLIZZTARDS
ARE THIS DUMB

I get the sneaking suspicion (from the various small comments about how people will play it, when it will be played etc.) that Artifact is going to be integrated into the DotA2 tournament view they created for VR. The idea being in a single and unified interface you can play a game of artifact whilst watching a game of dota

Further to this, I expect that Artifact will have full VR compatibility (basically a better version of the Playstation EYE trading card game they made for the PS3), which is going to be completely integrated into DotA2VR so you can watch the game and look down to play the card game on a VR table.

If this is the case, and it's done well, the game will be huge. Loads of people who are watching tourney matches will just play it on the side.

if it can be just a bit more complex and less jewish than hearthstone I'll give it a shot.

>At this year’s International Dota 2 Championships, developer Valve Software announced a new game coming soon: Artifact.

>Artifact is a card game based on Dota 2 involving three boards and a selection of characters from Valve’s flagship game, though other details remain light. The game was announced just before the final match of Day 2 of TI7 by event host Sean “Day9” Plott, who gave a vague description of the game that seemed to indicate it would involve building barracks, creeps, and lanes (after suggesting the announcement was not related to Dota 2).

It's an ARG, it's actually Half-Life 3

VR itself is not huge and will never be in it's current iteration. So yeah..

The shared interface needs to work in normal spectator mode ofc., not just in VR. It's certainly going to have a VR components as Valve wants to continue pushing that (my guess is it'll release at the same time as LG's device).

But the point is seamless dota spectation and artifact gameplay.

If it wasn't linked to dota it might be possible, but as it stand now they'd piss off more people by jerking around dota players than half life fans

I would say I am glad Heroes of the Storm never got a chance to ruin Blizzard the way Dota2 ruined Valve, but then I remembered Blizzard already ruined themselves around Cata.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

even l4d3 would be better than a fucking card game

Valve is the company with absolutely zero obligations to anyone and almost limitless funds. With this opportunity they choose to make the simplest uncreative cash grab game possible.

Because it's attempt to have another moneymaker like CS:GO crates.

Any news on it yet? I'm genuinely interested.

Don't expect anything until Valve moves to their new offices. I think an employee told some e-celeb that they would announce details on it after they move. I also expect the new Steam UI to drop then.

moba players and e-sports players are ruining main stream gaming

wonder if napalm strikes on Korea will fix it.

When do they move?

>some e-celeb

Probably Day "This reminds me of my 3k pubs" 9

I think it was mid-june but they delayed it to sometime in september.

Nah. It was Valve News I think.

I wonder if Valve are happy with the shilling he did for them.
